Madeleine McCann: Anjos Calls Mitchell A Liar And Madeleine One Year On: Campaign For Change
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SUN: “Cop: McCanns’ spokesman ‘lies’”
Carlos Anjos, president of Portugal’s Police Federation, says of Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “He lies with as many teeth as he has in his mouth.”
The accused the former BBC man of leaking police statements Kate and Gerry made within hours of Maddie disappearing last May. These were aired on Spanish TV last week. Anjos said the aim was to give the McCanns an excuse not to attend a reconstruction.
Says Mr Mitchell: “It is categorically untrue that I leaked them. There was absolutely no benefit for us to do that.”
THE TIMES: Andrew Billen on TV:
“It was going to be called Madeleine McCann, but now ITV1’s exclusive, has a longer name: Madeleine, One Year On: Campaign for Change. The programme will follow her parents as they campaign for an American-style Amber Alert system, in which law enforcement agencies are empowered to commandeer airtime when a child goes missing. Ah, lack of television coverage. That must have been the problem.”
Indeed.

The McCann’s should be made accountable in a court of law, for neglecting their children, that I agree with 100%. But to insinuate that they had anything to do with the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine is in my opinion , wrong. Presumed innocent until proved guilty.

What an uplifting thought.
Pity it didn’t get applied when the media here was doing its best to string Robert Murat up.
Or, indeed, when it was accusing his girlfriend of being a member of a gang abducting children to order for wealthy Arab paedophiles.
I do not recall you posting at the time to protest this failure to presume their innocence…

“Presumed innocent until guilty” doesn’t mean that it is forbidden to try and understand what could have happened. Otherwise, how would the police could ever work, they need hypothesis to work from.
Thinking they might have done this or that isn’t saying they are guilty of having done it. Anyway it is not for us -me or you- to say if they are innocent or not, it is for justice. And also to say innocent of what (according to the charges). “Innocent” without saying “innocent of what” means strictly nothing, as far as I am concerned.
And of course, we are all innocent until proven guilty by a jury, in the eyes of the law.

“Madeleine McCann investigators have been locked in a war of words with the four-year-old’s parents and their press spokesman Clarence Mitchell following the leaking of the couple’s police statements.
Last week Mr Mitchell demanded an inquiry into how the McCanns’ witness statements - given shortly after their daughter vanished - had been leaked and claimed it was another attempt to smear the couple.
In a rare public statement, the Policia Judiciaria (PJ) then criticised Mr Mitchell for his “baseless intervention”.
Dr Encarnacao, speaking after a meeting between public prosecutors and police who travelled to Britain for fresh interviews with the McCanns’ holiday friends, said: “Everything’s going well.
“The inquiries carried out in the UK are progressing in the best way possible.”
He said the police were not “vulnerable to pressure” from any party involved.
“The investigation will bring its results, whoever they hurt.”
The pledge came as a clairvoyant claimed Madeleine McCann died in an accident.
Last week it emerged that Robert Murat, the British expatriate made a formal suspect over the disappearance of Madeleine, has begun one of the largest libel claims in the history of British media.
The 34-year-old, who lived close to the Portugal apartment where the missing girl was last seen, has launched libel proceedings against 11 newspapers and one television network.”

Sorry, there are of course ‘bobs’ - its mobs that exist only in the mind o ‘Nostradamus’ who seeks to divert attention from the real issue, parents who ultimately failed in their duty of care to Madeleine. [edited - dr]

When I said “you’d have to discount…” I meant NOSTRADAMUS would have to discount it (I was replying to his post) for his “abduction by a local” theory to work, rather than one (or we) would have to discount it.
But yes you are right, Nostradamus would also have to discount the Vatican receiving info from the police. Or maybe he would say that the info was wrong.
They certainly got info from somewhere!
Maybe if the McCanns are cleared the Vatican will put the link back up

Nostradamus
If the pair of them admitted their terrible failure and said they regretted their treatment of Madeleine, if they were to say to the world ‘do not do as we did!’ then indeed my heart would melt.
But they do not, they seek to make money and to build careers on the loss of their child. This isn’t about mobs, its about legal action and the criminal law.
If they put as much effort into assisting the agencies of law as they do into their defence, if they returned immediately to PDL to assist the police and clear up the ‘little misunderstandings’ - if they showed through actions that they really loved the child and wanted to move heaven and earth to find out what happened to her, I could sympathise and understand you defending them. As it is, they do none of the things which are in their power - they care only about themselves.
Your ridiculous claims of witch hunts and mobs should stop, there are no witch hunts or bobs - just caring and concerned parents who regret the awful damage the McCanns have caused to the cause of missing children, to the misdirection of the stupid relatives of Shannon - who sought to copy the McCanns having seen their success at manipulating the public and the press.
The McCanns precedent must not be allowed to be the new standard.

We are not in a Court…we are specualtors.
But unlike you, our speculations , lead us to be suspicious of them
and there possible role in the matter.
Just because you believe them to be innocent doesn’t make you
a better judge than others….but it may well show that you are
a bit more gullible than some.

Can’t Say No
The pros always stay stick to facts, but they don’t want to talk about the negligence (fact), saying it has been re-hashed enough. As if the abduction story hadn’t been rehashed enough too.
