Madleine McCann: Rachel Oldfield Knows, Doctors And Gerry McCann
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MAIL: “Stop the carnival”
It’s Richard Littlejohn:
I’ve always been uneasy about the media carnival, but figured if that’s what got her parents through the night, what business was it of mine.
However, one year on, there’s something distasteful about the continuing round of claim and counter-claim, blame and counter-blame.
Gerry and Kate McCann should be left alone with their demons, with our sympathy, and not live out their guilt in public any longer. The police and the private detectives should be left to get on with their job.
The Tapas Seven, the McCanns’ PR man, the professional ghouls should all keep their theories to themselves.
And their opinions?
DAILY MIRROR: “Rachael Oldfield of the Tapas Seven breaks her silence over McCann’s torment”
Tapas Seven? And why speak now?
Rachael Oldfield, a 36-year-old recruitment consultant, said: “I was there on the night. I spent time with Gerry and Kate during the week before May 3 and after.
What happened?
“Their emotions and their reactions were just agonising. There’s just no way they were involved in anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance.
“If you take the common sense approach and look at timings and the fact they are medics and there are four other medics in the group, they would know what to do to resuscitate a child.
Common sense? Doctors. Such are the facts.
“Anyone with an ounce of common sense would be able to see they couldn’t have done it. And I was there and I know they didn’t do it.”
DAILY STAR: “OUTRAGEOUS”
Rachel Oldfield has a pop at the Portuguese police, and complains about being bound by law to, er, keep quiet.
GLASGOW DAILY RECORD: “McCanns’ Anger At Being Kept In The Dark”
Says Gerry McCann: “I think it’s safe to say we’re getting very little information. We haven’t had any communication in terms of what’s been done in the investigation.”
“We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’ve always said we want to leave no stone unturned and to do that we need to know which stones have already been overturned.”
THE SUN: “Stop shifting blame, Kate”
IS it just me or are the McCanns getting on your nerves too?
It’s you. It’s them. It might be all of you.
Now, in a new TV documentary, Kate says that she wanted a baby monitor but the resort didn’t have one. So instead she, Gerry and the Tapas Seven made the bizarre decision to eat out every night and leave three young children home alone. I’m sorry, in any language that’s child neglect.
Sorry? Why is Gaunt sorry?
And, by the way, I’m not being heartless, just honest.
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann’s father: police gave up”
Mr McCann tells BBC Radio 4 interviewer Steve Kingstone: “We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’d like know who has been eliminated from the inquiry and on what grounds and what leads are still being followed.”
No news is news

months later the dogs were brought in and still NOTHING conclusive-sorry you find this tiring-I guess if you search my car you could probably find DNA of half a dozen kids-so how do you think K disposed of the body? I am willing to be persuaded and…….even bored.

Chenier,
Don’t you think it is interesting that Madeleine apparently asked why Kate did not come though when she and Sean were crying? It was obviously then an unusual situation, for them not to come. And children with parents who do not respond when they cry wouldn’t really continue for a long time. They would know a parent was not likely to come. Kind of liek the sleep training people do with babies. Eventually they apparently give up. Children only cry if they expect somebody to come. If the McCanns were not responsive to their children most of the time, Madeleine would not have cried so long that night.
If the newspapers wanted to imply continued neglect, then they also opened up another line of thought. The little girl was used to being responded to.
———————————————-
Actually, it wasn’t the newspapers; it was a Spanish TV programme. The newspapers only reported the contents of the TV programme.
And nobody knows who leaked it to the Spanish TV programme; it sure as hell wasn’t the PJ. The whole thing is carefully constructed to reflect the McCanns as concerned and responsible parents.
Cui Bono is usually the right question to ask…

Please ! Someone tell me this is not true. 2 hours on ITV next Wednesday???????
I shall have to watch it cos I can’t wait to see what crap they produce……. but I’ve only just bought a new tele and seriously fear for its safety.
Best thing I can do is remove anything remotely chuckable out of the room and sit, in my straightjacket on the floor.
For f..k’s sake … how much longer is the PJ gonna make us suffer?
Arrest them - for negligence if nothing else.
Oh and Christine.. I remember that bit too, only I thought it was Mrs Healy he was talking to,
Thought he said “Mum, there’s been a disaster. …”
Strange way of putting it.
And I’ve always felt that Mrs Healy, whilst obviously wanting to believe her daughter , is not 100% convinced that what they’ve said is thr truth.
And Mothers are usually right.

OK-even if I had a couple of hours-how would i do it to ensure that either a) no-one saw me driving off or b) the dogs wouldn’t sniff the corpse-not saying impossible-just not have a clue how to do it when given nearly a year to think about it……

1103-Chenier-bit peeved-specially as Inever lleft her and had her with me all the time!!!!! But let’s say you are right-How the hell could K have hidden the body-called everyone over and nobody had found a corpse-there was simply no time-where could she have hidden it-especially as for all they knew-the police could have broughtt sniffer dogs there and then-doesn’t make sense.
—————————————————
Do things usually make sense when you’ve just found the body of your dead child?
And why would there have been no time?
Oldfield was the last non-McCann to check the children and he didn’t actually check…
——————-
Well I would assume that between the time Kate found her and then yelled ‘SOMEONE has take her’ would have been a mear 2 minutes……….. at a guess. Hmm i see your point!

This is the bit that absolutely intrigues me - why do they feel so confident that they can go on Radio 4 and spend 2 hours on ITV next Wednesday? I’ve only ever known a documentary go on for an hour but TWO? It’s almost turned into a religion, do you believe in the McCanns? And everyone nods - that’s what they want - nodding ducks. Well I’m no nodding duck I’m afraid.

I absolutely know this is true in our family as well. We have one saying - don’t tell Mum or, tell her this or “this is the story right?” all rehearsed and harmless because it comes out in the end and wasn’t really a problem in the first place because we would help each other in every way we can. And, you can never lie to your Mum - she knows every look, every comment, every phone call taken in private, every excuse in the book. And, it’s the same way with this - total and very transparent cover up and being played out to the whole world in public.
Regarding Martin Brunt there were already rumours that he was in PDL before he popped up in Sydenham, so I think all we can do is wait for Portugal’s next move. If that is simply going to be to “lift the secrecy” and stand back while one of the senior investigating officers publishes a book giving “the truth” then for me the reputation of that country’s criminal justice system would be in tatters.
