I’ve always been uneasy about the media carnival, but figured if that’s what got her parents through the night, what business was it of mine.
However, one year on, there’s something distasteful about the continuing round of claim and counter-claim, blame and counter-blame.
Gerry and Kate McCann should be left alone with their demons, with our sympathy, and not live out their guilt in public any longer. The police and the private detectives should be left to get on with their job.
The Tapas Seven, the McCanns’ PR man, the professional ghouls should all keep their theories to themselves.
And their opinions?

Tapas Seven? And why speak now?
Rachael Oldfield, a 36-year-old recruitment consultant, said: “I was there on the night. I spent time with Gerry and Kate during the week before May 3 and after.
What happened?
“Their emotions and their reactions were just agonising. There’s just no way they were involved in anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance.
“If you take the common sense approach and look at timings and the fact they are medics and there are four other medics in the group, they would know what to do to resuscitate a child.
Common sense? Doctors. Such are the facts.
“Anyone with an ounce of common sense would be able to see they couldn’t have done it. And I was there and I know they didn’t do it.”

Rachel Oldfield has a pop at the Portuguese police, and complains about being bound by law to, er, keep quiet.

Says Gerry McCann: “I think it’s safe to say we’re getting very little information. We haven’t had any communication in terms of what’s been done in the investigation.”
“We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’ve always said we want to leave no stone unturned and to do that we need to know which stones have already been overturned.”

IS it just me or are the McCanns getting on your nerves too?

Now, in a new TV documentary, Kate says that she wanted a baby monitor but the resort didn’t have one. So instead she, Gerry and the Tapas Seven made the bizarre decision to eat out every night and leave three young children home alone. I’m sorry, in any language that’s child neglect.

And, by the way, I’m not being heartless, just honest.

Mr McCann tells BBC Radio 4 interviewer Steve Kingstone: “We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’d like know who has been eliminated from the inquiry and on what grounds and what leads are still being followed.”

Be charged or not be charged
This not the question anymore: there will always be a cloud of suspicion over them and any book will bring questions which have been left without answers like in many other cases.
There will not be a breach of secrecy because this specific book will be released,after the secrecy has been lifted,and IF libel,the mccanns should be happy: more cash coming in the “fund set up to look forMadeleine” and to brain wash the twins,who are under going “special monitoring”(of the truth).
I must admit,to be fair,I will only believe official statements but…..it will definitively be interesting and I believe many people will “fight” the way through to make justice to Madeleine.

I understand baby Anorak is doing well.
Mindful of what happened to the McCann’s , Paul is determined not to make the same mistake. He particularly does not want to provide any opportunity for anyone on 3A’s to accuse him of ‘child neglect’. Consequently, he does not let Baby Anorak out of his sight for a second. It is rumoured (but not established as fact - got to be careful of libel!) that he affixes Baby Anorak to the legs of his table with duct tape while he is working.

Ah so I wasn’t wrong then. The money the McCanns make is going to the fund to find Madeleine? So they are not going to spend it on pretty dresses, holidays or a bigger house, is it?
And the others keep the cash for themselves? I despise them for it! They make money on the faith of a poor little girl. As they were just by mere accident [or luck] involved in the investigation, they shouldn’t make any profit of it. They were paid to do their job [which they did until now not very good, is it?]. If their motives were really altruistic, they would donate the money to an organisation that helps finding missing children. Or abused children.
Most police officers aren’t particularly keen on former collegues who can’t wait to write books about cases they were involved with. If these former collegues really want to be writers/investigators, they write about old, cold cases from the past, which they didn’t investigate themselves at that time.
These people merely want their revenge! Shows them for what they really are.
I’ve been defending them for quit some time, because I can understand how and why they made mistakes. I won’t do that anymore, they are despicable in my eyes!

JO, you seem to be unable or unwilling to accept the fact that if the McCanns are not arrested/charged/convicted of a crime, anything written accusing them of a crime or implicating them in the execution of a crime, can and will be seen as libel unless the accuser can prove that which they have written to be true.

The only 6 months reference I have read about was related to libel and the case against any newspapers. Haven’t seen anything regarding child neglect and a limit of 6 months.
