Madleine McCann: Rachel Oldfield Knows, Doctors And Gerry McCann
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MAIL: “Stop the carnival”
It’s Richard Littlejohn:
I’ve always been uneasy about the media carnival, but figured if that’s what got her parents through the night, what business was it of mine.
However, one year on, there’s something distasteful about the continuing round of claim and counter-claim, blame and counter-blame.
Gerry and Kate McCann should be left alone with their demons, with our sympathy, and not live out their guilt in public any longer. The police and the private detectives should be left to get on with their job.
The Tapas Seven, the McCanns’ PR man, the professional ghouls should all keep their theories to themselves.
And their opinions?
DAILY MIRROR: “Rachael Oldfield of the Tapas Seven breaks her silence over McCann’s torment”
Tapas Seven? And why speak now?
Rachael Oldfield, a 36-year-old recruitment consultant, said: “I was there on the night. I spent time with Gerry and Kate during the week before May 3 and after.
What happened?
“Their emotions and their reactions were just agonising. There’s just no way they were involved in anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance.
“If you take the common sense approach and look at timings and the fact they are medics and there are four other medics in the group, they would know what to do to resuscitate a child.
Common sense? Doctors. Such are the facts.
“Anyone with an ounce of common sense would be able to see they couldn’t have done it. And I was there and I know they didn’t do it.”
DAILY STAR: “OUTRAGEOUS”
Rachel Oldfield has a pop at the Portuguese police, and complains about being bound by law to, er, keep quiet.
GLASGOW DAILY RECORD: “McCanns’ Anger At Being Kept In The Dark”
Says Gerry McCann: “I think it’s safe to say we’re getting very little information. We haven’t had any communication in terms of what’s been done in the investigation.”
“We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’ve always said we want to leave no stone unturned and to do that we need to know which stones have already been overturned.”
THE SUN: “Stop shifting blame, Kate”
IS it just me or are the McCanns getting on your nerves too?
It’s you. It’s them. It might be all of you.
Now, in a new TV documentary, Kate says that she wanted a baby monitor but the resort didn’t have one. So instead she, Gerry and the Tapas Seven made the bizarre decision to eat out every night and leave three young children home alone. I’m sorry, in any language that’s child neglect.
Sorry? Why is Gaunt sorry?
And, by the way, I’m not being heartless, just honest.
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann’s father: police gave up”
Mr McCann tells BBC Radio 4 interviewer Steve Kingstone: “We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’d like know who has been eliminated from the inquiry and on what grounds and what leads are still being followed.”
No news is news

The nice thing about having a balanced view and not pre-empting the guilt or innocence of parties, is that we who have taken that stance are not backed into a corner, where as the anti brigade have painted themselves into a corner.
They have no where to go, the McCanns must be found guilty to justify the anti mob.
Where as people who are happy to let the law take its course, can say exactly that, what ever the outcome, we let the law take its course, without prejudging anyone.

The lawyers know since day one and this is why they have been employed. They also advised them not to go to portugal for a reconstruction.Very clever? I am not sure
And the saga continues…and it is all about “their lives being ruined”
Whjat about Madeleine”s LIFE?

Mornin’ folks
Was Justice McTeamGuinness in breach of Portuguese secrecy over texting Kate and reporting although allegedly inaccurately (according to Carlos Pinto de Abreu) about the plea bargain offered to K? I recall seeing her titter as she discussed the texting during a tv interview, and she repeats the allegation (also circulated by Aunt phat phil) without correction in today’s Mail article.
Perhaps this article signals that Carlos Pinto de Abreu is the about to be the latest eject from Team McC, coinciding with expected decision not to return for the reconstruction.

I feel desperately for Kate McCann - her life has been ruined, she loathes the spotlight’………………….
‘And I got the distinct impression that the police had offered her a deal, or put considerable pressure on her to admit that she harmed Madeleine. Amazingly, I was also given the impression that her lawyer initially seemed to think she should take the deal and admit she harmed her daughter.’

You refer to post 1231 which is Andrea’s. I assume your accusation that I am “spamming” is a joke, a suggestion that Andrea and I are the same person?!
I assume it’s a joke because i think you probably know it’s not the case!
On the other hand, I’m not sure why you should call it “spamming” if I post a newspaper article? People do it all the time.
Ah well!
Good night all.
————————————
Actually, 1231 is now authored by Pat
The curse of the renumbering has struck again.
As for the spamming, what concerned me was that instead of replying to points raised earlier in the debate, you were simply dumping an extremely lengthy article.
I still await your comments on the two cases heard this month in the English Courts involving the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004.
The following is taken from a circular at the Home Office:
‘The new offence and procedural changes form a package of measures which are intended to solve the problem that arises when a child or vulnerable adult suffers an unlawful death and it can be proved that one or more of a small group of people living in the same household as the victim caused the death, but not which of them.
In such circumstances there may be no case to answer against any member of the household for murder/manslaughter. Until now this loophole in the law has enabled those co-accused of the death of a child or vulnerable adult to escape justice by remaining silent or by blaming each other.
However it is also a serious stand-alone offence which puts a new legal responsibility on adult household members who could be charged with the offence even for example where there is no charge of murder/manslaughter or where evidence suggests that the defendant could not themselves have committed the criminal act which killed the victim. ..
The offence provides that members of a household who have frequent contact with a child or vulnerable adult will be guilty if they caused the death of that child or vulnerable adult or three conditions are met:
they were aware or ought to have been aware that the victim was at significant risk of serious physical harm from a member of the household; and
they failed to take reasonable steps to prevent that person coming to harm; and
the person subsequently died from the unlawful act of a member of the household in circumstances that the defendant foresaw or ought to have foreseen.
The offence may therefore be applicable in two different circumstances – the defendant may have caused or allowed the death of a child or vulnerable adult.
The prosecution do not have to prove which of the two circumstances apply to the defendant. The maximum penalty is 14 years.’

There will be facts and evidence, like it or not.Incriminating or not? do you know? are you scared that it COULD well be MORE incriminating than we think?
Of course,it would be much better if Madeleine”s progenitors would say the truth THEMSELVES
***********
Facts and evidence in his book? Some facts sure, no evidence, evidence is in the possession of the police/prosecutor.
Why would I be scared? I’m furious! It’s unethical!
And how would you or I know if Madeleine’s parents told the truth to the police? Though I think it’s hardly likely they told the police A and in a TV interview they told us B. Because that would be really stupid. Which they aren’t imo. And which they most certainly can’t be if they WERE involved and are able to fool all their friends, family, the cops and escape justice. [alledgedly & imo etc in case necessary].

Now really of for a while. While I was typing this response, I got a phonecall that a dear friend of us, who lives just a couple of houses further up the street, just died.

I couldn’t even get to the end of this utter bilge which reads worse than a third rate novel.
Justine McGuinness, supposedly an intelligent government spokesman, is pandering the lowest intellect with such unmitigated propaganda. I imagine we can expect to be saturated with such pro-McCann pap for the next week or so. WHY?
I just hope the unprecedented and relentless support, without any critical analysis or demand for answers to pertinent questions simply further awakens the general public to the view that something ain’t right, normal or fair.

A reconstuction after a year? Brilliant! That’ll solve it [not!]
au contraire rodders
a reconstruction after a year will pick out all sorts of detail about shadows, lighting levels etc
apart from showing up the many inconsistencies in their ever-changing storylines
it’s also brilliant because it calls the bluff on the taparratti
their refusal to cooperate is plain to see and their fear of stepping on portuguese soil made crystal clear
and a book from mr amaral in the offing - what fun

Sharing the McCanns’ hell
This Saturday marks the first anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance. How have the McCanns coped?
Emma Loach
Sitting at Kate and Gerry McCann’s kitchen table, watching their three-year-old twins Sean and Amelie playing on the floor, you could be observing any normal family scene. There are no histrionics. No weeping or wailing. /Edit…
**************
Maria, this article is rather less than subliminal brain washing! So much emphasis on Amber alert and related issues, with the writer being struck by how kind K & G are, refusing to be defined by their tragedy… THEIR tragedy? Well, self inflicted, I suppose. IT’S MADELEINE’S TRAGEDY.
I have a feeling the amazingly long 2 hour documentary to be shown next week will be much of the same - how the selfless couple cling to hope, whilst doing all they can to prevent others from suffering the despair caused by neglect of parental duties…
So much emphasis on how “the twins are almost OBSCENELY happy, filling the house with love and laughter”. Such a strange expression. Rather defeats the intention of conveying that the caring parents had induced this OBSCENELY happy state and should threfore these deliriously happy children must not be deprived of their parents’ presence merely for justice to be served. Fortunately we know the children are used to long spells in the company of many others.
In another context, when reading some postings on here from less familiar contributors, I get the odd feeling that every avenue is being researched to combat whatever scenario may need to be defended in court… Who would employ such researchers, I wonder?
