Madleine McCann: Rachel Oldfield Knows, Doctors And Gerry McCann
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MAIL: “Stop the carnival”
It’s Richard Littlejohn:
I’ve always been uneasy about the media carnival, but figured if that’s what got her parents through the night, what business was it of mine.
However, one year on, there’s something distasteful about the continuing round of claim and counter-claim, blame and counter-blame.
Gerry and Kate McCann should be left alone with their demons, with our sympathy, and not live out their guilt in public any longer. The police and the private detectives should be left to get on with their job.
The Tapas Seven, the McCanns’ PR man, the professional ghouls should all keep their theories to themselves.
And their opinions?
DAILY MIRROR: “Rachael Oldfield of the Tapas Seven breaks her silence over McCann’s torment”
Tapas Seven? And why speak now?
Rachael Oldfield, a 36-year-old recruitment consultant, said: “I was there on the night. I spent time with Gerry and Kate during the week before May 3 and after.
What happened?
“Their emotions and their reactions were just agonising. There’s just no way they were involved in anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance.
“If you take the common sense approach and look at timings and the fact they are medics and there are four other medics in the group, they would know what to do to resuscitate a child.
Common sense? Doctors. Such are the facts.
“Anyone with an ounce of common sense would be able to see they couldn’t have done it. And I was there and I know they didn’t do it.”
DAILY STAR: “OUTRAGEOUS”
Rachel Oldfield has a pop at the Portuguese police, and complains about being bound by law to, er, keep quiet.
GLASGOW DAILY RECORD: “McCanns’ Anger At Being Kept In The Dark”
Says Gerry McCann: “I think it’s safe to say we’re getting very little information. We haven’t had any communication in terms of what’s been done in the investigation.”
“We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’ve always said we want to leave no stone unturned and to do that we need to know which stones have already been overturned.”
THE SUN: “Stop shifting blame, Kate”
IS it just me or are the McCanns getting on your nerves too?
It’s you. It’s them. It might be all of you.
Now, in a new TV documentary, Kate says that she wanted a baby monitor but the resort didn’t have one. So instead she, Gerry and the Tapas Seven made the bizarre decision to eat out every night and leave three young children home alone. I’m sorry, in any language that’s child neglect.
Sorry? Why is Gaunt sorry?
And, by the way, I’m not being heartless, just honest.
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann’s father: police gave up”
Mr McCann tells BBC Radio 4 interviewer Steve Kingstone: “We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’d like know who has been eliminated from the inquiry and on what grounds and what leads are still being followed.”

Actually, I don”t feel too hungry at the moment so, have turned everything off!!!
Do you remember I posted some CBS News videos about the McCann”s, Ed Smart
was in one of them. Apparently the Media thought the worst, that he was responsible
and he admitted even his wife started to have doubts. Gerry had a visit with him when
he was last in USA so expect it to be in the Documentary. Even Kate”s mother and Jon
Corner were in the CBS videos, so expect them to say their little piece as well. I bet
this programme ends up with the song “I believe in you” or some other anthem. Mentorn are the Producers, did they have any say in how it was produced?

Chenier just to confirm that according to reports the group didn’t just dine at the Tapas, they ate at the complex’s main Millenium Restaurant the first 2 nights 28th and 29th April. They took the children with them but as they were getting Fractious ? they requested to take their meals at Tapas the following evenings. The meals were brought over from the main restaurant, so I assume they were more than “Tapas” type snacks .
Nobody has stated where they went AFTER Tapas on previous nights have they ?
Looking at Brandons post 1438 it appears that the locals know they went elsewhere after the Tapas anyway………….
“The Portuguese locals believe that “keeping a closer watch over the children” meant that the McCanns and their friends stayed within the bounds of the complex, checking intermittently on the children — one of whom (not a McCann) was ill — when they met later that night, rather than heading to restaurants or bars outside.”

Done my stuff & even tho’ the other really doesn’t mind doing his shirts (he does ‘em better!) I feel better leaving him sorted!
Weekends have become very quiet here, things probably pick up next week? Everyone just waiting for something to happen, some news?
It’s getting very difficult to find things to discuss. When a newby arrives it’s a case of going over the same stuff. Not their fault but everything is just getting re hashed now.
No new photos (photo bucket?) from you for the ”regulars” to have a laugh at? You should come up with a new one maybe? Put your thinking hat on!!
Nosey back tommorrow maybe she can lift spirits with her holiday frolics? Please tell her that I wasn’t questioning her re her location was only trying to learn more about stupid bl**dy computers!

The Olympic torch pass-the-parcel is at least keeping Tibet in the headlines. And while so much about the McCanns is speculation, their own words and behaviour on camera should be very interesting.

From The Sunday Times:
Madeleine McCann’s exhausted mother has thought of giving up search
The mother of Madeleine McCann has admitted for the first time to having “desperate” days when she considers giving up the search for her daughter.
Kate McCann, 40, says that lack of progress in finding Madeleine has left her feeling “down, desperate and exhausted”. The couple have also received a death threat and legal sources fear the Portuguese police may charge them with neglect for leaving Madeleine alone while they dined in a nearby restaurant.
Despite all this their spirits have been lifted since they travelled to Washington last month where they met Ed Smart, whose daughter Elizabeth was taken from her bed by a homeless preacher. She was found after nine months of campaigning.
Footage of the emotional meeting between the McCanns and Smart, to be broadcast in an ITV documentary on Wednesday, was released as the couple prepared to use this week’s anniversary to reenergise the search for Madeleine.
Kate said: “You have days when you’re so down and desperate and tired, you think you’ve got to switch off and I think, okay, we’ve tried really hard and we’ve come up with nothing and now we need to make the best of what we’ve got. [But] we’re never going to hit that day. It doesn’t matter how small the possibility is [of Madeleine being found alive], the possibility is still there.”
Their young twins, Sean and Amelie, still include Madeleine in their games. “They make phone calls to her on their toy phones, then go off to find her,” she said.
“If they talk about her they will be told that Madeleine’s not here and everyone’s looking for her. It’s not brushed under the carpet.”

I think joe public are fed up with the McCanns , it”s only the forums that are keeping
the interest alive.. when I tell friends of some of the more interesting info not reported,
they don”t believe me and credit my intelligence for believing such rubbish!!!!!!!!
Your”e right the McCann”s seem very calm, maybe they know something we don”t, and
are just waiting for it to be made Official. Could you honestly see them contemplating
writing a book from their prison cells?
Unlike some people, I want to make sure my lovely Roast dinner doesn”t get spoilt

We will watch, though, won’t we? The ‘Miss Marple’ in me is obsessed by this case and considers all the theories discussed here. Certainly all the interviews with the McCs are eerily fascinating. I have no idea what will happen next but I do think the issue of neglect is being discussed in the media more than it was.
——————————————————-
The other point is that tv channels are supposed to provide an element of what might loosely be described as ’serious’ programmes to dilute the wall-to-wall
chatshows, and phone-ins to determine how long celebrities no-one has ever heard of should be roasted over a small fire .

I know what you mean, it is fascinating and I admit to being biased, I chew over all the
bits that assume their guilt, but how can we have a balanced view with so little evidence?
I”m just hoping that the PJ surprise us all with the evidence they have accumulated.
Admittedly, they have to make sure their case is watertight in view of the top class
legal advice the McCanns have had, including NEVER to admit negligence. After all the
insults, time and money the Portugese have spent on not even one of their own, I would
like them to prefer charges, even at the risk of failure just to bring the McCanns to
Court.

I”m not at all sure the PJ can obtain Bank Statements for the Tapas 7, they are
witnesses, not arguidos and could well appeal to the Court of Human Rights. The McCanns are different, if the Statements prove they were in Chaplins and paid for meals and drinks by Credit Card, obviously the further the distance, the greater the
degree of negligence.
If the Statements prove the McCanns were receiving money from the fund illegally,
that is a seperate matter for the British Police to deal with I imagine.

I read a precis of the upcoming 2 hour (2hr? what”s supposed to keep us interested

concentrating on Amber Alert etc and their Heartache, nothing as questionable about

It”s like being on a seesaw, one minute your”e up, the next your down, the latest gossip

There are datas over Natcha Kampush which have been released to the public, apparently, because the evidence contain images and others, which incriminate some big austrian heads and wont be published to respect the girls privacy.
This was aired on spanish TV sometime ago,I think on telecinco,in the same program of the “Famous Leak”.
I always thought N.Kampush story went into oblivion very quickly.Naturally,I give very little credit to Nacho Abad….but sometime he is said to be right.

Man Kept Daughter Prisoner For 24 Years
Updated:14:38, Sunday April 27, 2008
Austrian police are investigating claims a man held his daughter captive in a cellar for 24 years and may have fathered six children by her.
Austrian police
Police have said little so far
Detectives say the woman had been missing since August 29, 1984. She is now 42.
The case apparently came to light when one of the children, a teenage girl, was found alone in the man’s house.
She was taken to a hospital in the Lower Austrian town of Amstetten where she is said to be critically ill.
There was no sign of the mother although she and the other five children have since been traced.
They are now being looked after by the local authorities.

Journalist Joe Remick told Sky News: “The only thing we know about the mother is that she is being evaluated by psychologists.
“Obviously, she will have been severely traumatised by her experience.”
Police say the man being investigated is 73 years old. They have identified him as Josef F and his alleged victim as Elizabeth F.
The case follows that of Natascha Kampusch, the Austrian girl who was held captive by a man for more than eight years.
She was snatched aged eight in March 1998 by technician Wolfgang Priklopil.
He threw himself in front of a train after she escaped. He was 44 at the time.
