Madleine McCann: Rachel Oldfield Knows, Doctors And Gerry McCann
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MAIL: “Stop the carnival”
It’s Richard Littlejohn:
I’ve always been uneasy about the media carnival, but figured if that’s what got her parents through the night, what business was it of mine.
However, one year on, there’s something distasteful about the continuing round of claim and counter-claim, blame and counter-blame.
Gerry and Kate McCann should be left alone with their demons, with our sympathy, and not live out their guilt in public any longer. The police and the private detectives should be left to get on with their job.
The Tapas Seven, the McCanns’ PR man, the professional ghouls should all keep their theories to themselves.
And their opinions?
DAILY MIRROR: “Rachael Oldfield of the Tapas Seven breaks her silence over McCann’s torment”
Tapas Seven? And why speak now?
Rachael Oldfield, a 36-year-old recruitment consultant, said: “I was there on the night. I spent time with Gerry and Kate during the week before May 3 and after.
What happened?
“Their emotions and their reactions were just agonising. There’s just no way they were involved in anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance.
“If you take the common sense approach and look at timings and the fact they are medics and there are four other medics in the group, they would know what to do to resuscitate a child.
Common sense? Doctors. Such are the facts.
“Anyone with an ounce of common sense would be able to see they couldn’t have done it. And I was there and I know they didn’t do it.”
DAILY STAR: “OUTRAGEOUS”
Rachel Oldfield has a pop at the Portuguese police, and complains about being bound by law to, er, keep quiet.
GLASGOW DAILY RECORD: “McCanns’ Anger At Being Kept In The Dark”
Says Gerry McCann: “I think it’s safe to say we’re getting very little information. We haven’t had any communication in terms of what’s been done in the investigation.”
“We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’ve always said we want to leave no stone unturned and to do that we need to know which stones have already been overturned.”
THE SUN: “Stop shifting blame, Kate”
IS it just me or are the McCanns getting on your nerves too?
It’s you. It’s them. It might be all of you.
Now, in a new TV documentary, Kate says that she wanted a baby monitor but the resort didn’t have one. So instead she, Gerry and the Tapas Seven made the bizarre decision to eat out every night and leave three young children home alone. I’m sorry, in any language that’s child neglect.
Sorry? Why is Gaunt sorry?
And, by the way, I’m not being heartless, just honest.
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann’s father: police gave up”
Mr McCann tells BBC Radio 4 interviewer Steve Kingstone: “We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’d like know who has been eliminated from the inquiry and on what grounds and what leads are still being followed.”

I am getting ready for the rumours to start circulating that the Clan are too traumatised, hounded, suffering too mental health problems to hop on planes back to PDL..
Being Catholic is a problem in itself as ther is always the chance of the inherited persecution complex.
Many Moons ago I recommended that KM should be constantly guarded - and not by a family member - just in case she took an insulin overdose.
If I was KM and my child was eaten by a big sardine or had wandered into a grotto or cave in a foreign place and I never got her back, I would prescibe myself insulin so that there was not a trace of suicide.

Now nobody believe in “sightings” so they must spin something new, introducing “mental state” etc…remember how their lawyers defended Pinochet and he got what HE wanted on account of his “fragile” state.
The mccArguidos are just and only preparing the ground (the public) for charges being brought for neglect(first step) and knew it since the very beginning otherwise they wouldnt have hired such lawyers.
The reconstruction? May it will take place may be not,I believe its not relevant anymore:the PJ is waiting for more important infos:call register and bank statements to find out exactely where the arguidos and principal witnesses were on the day Madeleine disappeared.

The article in today’s Irish Independent i.e. about the Chaplins mentioned by BrandonFlours is worth a look.
Some additional interesting points in Daily Mail article by Justice McTeamGuiness
-Cuddle cat washed on day 71 at (Trish Cameron’s instruction) - Day 71??
-Krugel’s technique appealed to K and G because of the science
-Kate ’s ‘black and white’ view of the disappearance -the only one with a black and white view it appears
-Gerry has failed as a husband as well as a father !!!
Did you notice J Mc sounds like Maria ?

This week is going to be complete spin, especially with the documentary.
They were due to give the PJ an answer about returning to Portugal this week. what will the PJ do if they have said no?
April 27th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
SteveT:
One of the strange things about that interview is that, once again, there was that emphasis on “Kate and Gerry wish they had been there AT THE MOMENT she was taken”.
This is something the couple keep saying.
Is it just to avoid saying “We wish we hadn’t gone out that evening?”
Or something more significant?

By the way I wonder about the true statistics of kids being abducted out of their bedroom by strangers and being located with the help of amber alert…
Additional I would love to know the amber alert statistics of family and stranger abductions.
Actually I just wonder. In all those years I have lived in the US I have only seen one amber alert on TV (girl got found dead soon afterwards). I live an average joe life, so average TV behaviour. Can anyone explain that to me?

Jo:
This latest wave of attacks on the PJ is appalling.
It’s how they started out - from day one - and now they’re trying to intensify their battle.

Doesn’t Clarrie also encourage people to send money in an envelope to Kate and Gerry in Rothley on that interview. Probably to cut out any bank charges.

Wouldn’t there be a trace of suicide if you weren’t diabetic?
Oo-er. If not…what a good way to murder someone.

This Austrian case is appalling. What mental state must the daughter and her children be in?

Yes. That book was so explicit.
Yet from the McCanns - no protest or complaint, at least, none we know of.

I had a very good time thanks! I am recovering now I think. chenier soothed and comforted me in her own inimitable way when I surfaced at lunchtime and, oddly for me, I then made some posts on-topic for a change.

It doesnt at all.Dont they check before publishing?
And then
“She said: “I beg them to hold on tight to their kids. They should keep their eyes open not just for Madeleine but for their own children.”
They are nuts or what? she is asking people to have an eye not only on Madeleine but for their own children???is this that people are now going spending the rest of their lives ” looking for” Madeleine?????
i am enraged and have been the whole day.
Also, about books. Why dont they sue Pereiro Cristavo who wrote “The Star of Madeleine”? why more Amaral than any others???
April 27th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
What is the money being spent on, anyway?
Is it only Metodo3, who I thought had been discredited yet who still, apparently, collect - what was it? - £50,000 a month? Or are there others we don’t know about on the payroll?
BTW: Heard the Clarence interview with John Gaunt (a bit late, I know). In that, CM seems to say there WAS a listening service at MW at PdL. but the parents decided to do their own checks.
This is just a bit odd IMO because a) it was established early on there was no listening service there, and b) soon afterwards there was so much fuss about Kate saying there wasn’t a service, etc etc and seeming to complain about it.

Totje. Tragic. Words are never enough help or comfort but I believe that all in the end is harvest and that people are lent to us for a time - and when that time is up they are recalled to a far better place than the one that we habit. It is us who are selfish for wishing them back.

The Mccanns minds on 3rd May?
April 27th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Like I said before, I am horrified about this Austrian news story where a woman have been locked up in the cellar for 24 years, abused, 7 children of her father, locked up with 3 of them who have never seen daylight up until saturday. According to Austrian press the father has always appeard very worried about his ‘missing’ daughter in front of the press and apparently could hide it all from his wife over so many years. You never know what people really are up to….

Also-and I’m on a roll t onight…….If K&G are innocent-this whole amber alert thing could be a way of over compensating for their guilt.
Personally I’d have a lot of respect if Madeleine’s Law was that you never, ever do what they did-at home or abroad-Can’t think many people are going to sat-Hey what a good idea-Leave your kids alone, go out-and don’t worry cos PC Plod will close all the borders-so even if we don’t see little Billy again-at least we know what country he is in.
BTW-Garth your comments about the wardrobes cracked me up ! I know it’s not funny-but I just had this vision of K trying to hoick a suitcase up above her head, and wiping the sweat from her brow-before running to the balcony-thinking-Please God don’t anyone look in the wardrobe-Or even worse-someone thinking-I’ll make a cup of tea to calm everyone down A la Eastenders-and opening the fridge.

“If someone lifted her out of bed Madeleine would have screamed the place down. That girl could throw a tantrum if she wanted to and she and the twins were quite shy about meeting new people.
“I just can’t imagine what happened.”

Mr and Mrs McCann, of Rothley, Leicestershire, remain desperate to raise money for the Find Madeleine fund amid fears that the £1.2million raised from public donations will run out within months.
Why desperate? mortgage too expensive?
and…..HERE we are: “Friends also fear for her mental state”…yeah, yeah, yeah…they could have worried before and make sure their childcares arrangements were from healthy parents not pissed heads
