Madleine McCann: Rachel Oldfield Knows, Doctors And Gerry McCann
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MAIL: “Stop the carnival”
It’s Richard Littlejohn:
I’ve always been uneasy about the media carnival, but figured if that’s what got her parents through the night, what business was it of mine.
However, one year on, there’s something distasteful about the continuing round of claim and counter-claim, blame and counter-blame.
Gerry and Kate McCann should be left alone with their demons, with our sympathy, and not live out their guilt in public any longer. The police and the private detectives should be left to get on with their job.
The Tapas Seven, the McCanns’ PR man, the professional ghouls should all keep their theories to themselves.
And their opinions?
DAILY MIRROR: “Rachael Oldfield of the Tapas Seven breaks her silence over McCann’s torment”
Tapas Seven? And why speak now?
Rachael Oldfield, a 36-year-old recruitment consultant, said: “I was there on the night. I spent time with Gerry and Kate during the week before May 3 and after.
What happened?
“Their emotions and their reactions were just agonising. There’s just no way they were involved in anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance.
“If you take the common sense approach and look at timings and the fact they are medics and there are four other medics in the group, they would know what to do to resuscitate a child.
Common sense? Doctors. Such are the facts.
“Anyone with an ounce of common sense would be able to see they couldn’t have done it. And I was there and I know they didn’t do it.”
DAILY STAR: “OUTRAGEOUS”
Rachel Oldfield has a pop at the Portuguese police, and complains about being bound by law to, er, keep quiet.
GLASGOW DAILY RECORD: “McCanns’ Anger At Being Kept In The Dark”
Says Gerry McCann: “I think it’s safe to say we’re getting very little information. We haven’t had any communication in terms of what’s been done in the investigation.”
“We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’ve always said we want to leave no stone unturned and to do that we need to know which stones have already been overturned.”
THE SUN: “Stop shifting blame, Kate”
IS it just me or are the McCanns getting on your nerves too?
It’s you. It’s them. It might be all of you.
Now, in a new TV documentary, Kate says that she wanted a baby monitor but the resort didn’t have one. So instead she, Gerry and the Tapas Seven made the bizarre decision to eat out every night and leave three young children home alone. I’m sorry, in any language that’s child neglect.
Sorry? Why is Gaunt sorry?
And, by the way, I’m not being heartless, just honest.
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann’s father: police gave up”
Mr McCann tells BBC Radio 4 interviewer Steve Kingstone: “We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’d like know who has been eliminated from the inquiry and on what grounds and what leads are still being followed.”
No news is news

Just as a slight variegation on the theme of Cary Grant and whether or not he woad die his heir, I won’t allow his character to be blackened; he was brilliantine and to suggest he was anything other than whiter than white is a shade unkind.

Did I ever suggest that he was ever less than coruscating?
I think you are on thin ice…

Wassup peeps, bad day or good day yesterday aint to sure, couple of injections had me sleeping most of the time. My good lady has cheered me up no end by telling me 3arses was in chaos and still is, after being spoofed by a RM scam last night, they are trying to stamp out all discussion on the fukup, which they are still claiming to be true.
Irrational I know, but I hate the superior attitude, when every one knows we are far superior in Anorak land.
Ian you have landed on the planet fukwit, in the galaxy 3arses, agw might leave the door open, looks like you may need it.

I still believe that little grey aliens from the planet Splog have not abducted Madeleine.
Admittedly, I can’t prove it.

Talking of controversial injuries and marks: recently I had a accident over work (with dogs) and fell onto a brick wall, there was a suspected hairline fracture on my skull which caused two horrific shiners, I also hurt my arm.
Peoples reactions varied, complete strangers either looked away or asked if I had been mugged or had a violent husband. People who knew me asked if things were Ok did I need any help etc. But close friends of us both didn’t even doubt my husband, and they also know my line of work and injuries happen.
Doctors sometimes have to fend off violent patients, its is a known.

Lyn,
In my view, only 2 others (in addition to the parents), may know what really happened. I believe the rest of the T7 don’t know the truth and were caught in this web initially because of fear of neglect charges and did not envisage what has developed since.
Will the mother leave? I don’t think so. But, this is just speculation on my part.

Bye Lyn
Daisy, I just get a vibe from her, I think the tiny tears comment and the woosh clunk, did it for me.
When it was made public that Madeleine asked her the night before, it confirmed it.
I think she took her frustration out on her. I even sometimes think Gerry could be innocent, and it was another fella who helped her.

If Kate is the battered wife, I hope she takes off quietly with the twins, and leaves Gerry, serves him with divorce papers and then, we shall know the real truth. Of course, if could be the other way around too. Gerry takes off…I did notice Kate has a speech impediment when she was talking near a beach. I did feel she was under duress. Like other posters, I too feel IMO, some people know exactly what happened. Weird couple though.

Brandon,
I don’t know … to me that would not be a good reason to hurt a little one. If the child was more drawn to the father, it could also have been due to being fearful of him or his reactions to particular behaviours. Strangely nobody has ever come forward, to my knowlede, to say that these 2 were bad parents or neglectful before PDL. Neighbours, acquaintances, child carers, etc. At the risk of repeating myself, I don’t think that if the mother was the one that hurt the child, she would have also been the one selected to announce her disappearance. IMO the opposite would make more sense.

Lyn,
I agree with you. The mother seems lifeless and that could explain her lack of showing public emotion … she could be so used to hiding her real emotions that it is beyond a normal mother as we see it. I am convinced that hubby is a control freak, who is also a perfectionist (as many controlling creatures are) and the fact that they were apparently called back from dinner because the kids were crying for hours one night, would not have made him very happy! Public embarrassment and humilation would not, IMO, fall well with hubby. Could the mother be so fearful now that the manipulation continues? Will it come a point when she might get a separate lawyer? I believe so.

No, that was the film about the pink submarine.
Even Cary couldn’t ride that weyve…

Madeleine appararently favoured her dad to her mum.
I think Gerrys a prick and a selfish husband, but I think Kates the evil one. IMO
I know its sexist, but like Oldfields listening at the door bollox, when you think of your own motherly instincts to your under 3s and compare it to hers, I think it hi lights the sort of woman she is.
Plus if Gerry was the violent one, Clarence would be a panda by now IMO
I think Kate resented her, and her relationship with Gerry.
The sleeping beauty syndrome.
