I’ve always been uneasy about the media carnival, but figured if that’s what got her parents through the night, what business was it of mine.
However, one year on, there’s something distasteful about the continuing round of claim and counter-claim, blame and counter-blame.
Gerry and Kate McCann should be left alone with their demons, with our sympathy, and not live out their guilt in public any longer. The police and the private detectives should be left to get on with their job.
The Tapas Seven, the McCanns’ PR man, the professional ghouls should all keep their theories to themselves.
And their opinions?

Tapas Seven? And why speak now?
Rachael Oldfield, a 36-year-old recruitment consultant, said: “I was there on the night. I spent time with Gerry and Kate during the week before May 3 and after.
What happened?
“Their emotions and their reactions were just agonising. There’s just no way they were involved in anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance.
“If you take the common sense approach and look at timings and the fact they are medics and there are four other medics in the group, they would know what to do to resuscitate a child.
Common sense? Doctors. Such are the facts.
“Anyone with an ounce of common sense would be able to see they couldn’t have done it. And I was there and I know they didn’t do it.”

Now, in a new TV documentary, Kate says that she wanted a baby monitor but the resort didn’t have one. So instead she, Gerry and the Tapas Seven made the bizarre decision to eat out every night and leave three young children home alone. I’m sorry, in any language that’s child neglect.

Mr McCann tells BBC Radio 4 interviewer Steve Kingstone: “We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’d like know who has been eliminated from the inquiry and on what grounds and what leads are still being followed.”

Just ONE version from the horses mouth, as I stated. I must say I am surprised to find you in full agreement with me, that to lie on national TV using an untrue version of events which can easily be proved wrong, is not on!
This MUCH later version was broadcast to fool the naive, in order to plant the seed of an idea that someone could have monitored their movements over the previous five nights.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised by the way Garth to find that you are on someones pay roll to post pro propaganda. Your last post has further bolstered such suspicions!

I think its disgusting that a current serving member of the PJ would even contemplate writing a book about the case even when and if it comes to a conclusion. It just goes to show what type of a man he is. IMO he should be thrown out of the PJ without delay. As I understand it the book is near to conclusion and he has shown it to a publisher no doubt therefore he is releasing information under the secrecy laws of the PJ and is punishable under Portuguesse Law .

spokesman said this morning that all existing Employees would recieve final pay
pensions, but not those employed in future. this seems reasonable bearing in mind the
longevity of people today. So why the strike?

I don’t understand how the Law (in any country) allows people publishing any books about any current investigations. It should be forbidden. Also, doesn’t the family have any legal recourse to stop others from publishing books about one of their family members (whether present or absent)?

THE disgraced cop who led the search for Maddie McCann has written a money-spinning book – pointing the finger at her parents.
Goncalo Amaral, 48, who was booted off the case after five months, refuses to believe Gerry and Kate McCann had nothing to do with the tot’s disappearance.
He authorised their status as suspects, but was removed after allegedly enjoying boozy lunch breaks while leading the hunt in Portugal.
Amaral’s book True Lies accuses Maddie’s parents of dumping her body at sea after accidentally killing her. He says British police were too close to the couple and did not follow up leads he suggested.
His lawyer Paulo Santos said of the book: “It’s not speculative, but factual.”
But the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “We are not surprised at this.

Forums vs. Forums
I think all forums have intelligent contributors and also some not so …
Some of the theories posted here or there are quite interesting and some posters go to great length to study the information that is in the public domain. Many will be far off the mark probably, but I believe some may have some insider knowledge. As much as the PJ may try to keep things under wrap, I would bet that there are always people prepared to leak something here and there.
