Madleine McCann: Rachel Oldfield Knows, Doctors And Gerry McCann
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MAIL: “Stop the carnival”
It’s Richard Littlejohn:
I’ve always been uneasy about the media carnival, but figured if that’s what got her parents through the night, what business was it of mine.
However, one year on, there’s something distasteful about the continuing round of claim and counter-claim, blame and counter-blame.
Gerry and Kate McCann should be left alone with their demons, with our sympathy, and not live out their guilt in public any longer. The police and the private detectives should be left to get on with their job.
The Tapas Seven, the McCanns’ PR man, the professional ghouls should all keep their theories to themselves.
And their opinions?
DAILY MIRROR: “Rachael Oldfield of the Tapas Seven breaks her silence over McCann’s torment”
Tapas Seven? And why speak now?
Rachael Oldfield, a 36-year-old recruitment consultant, said: “I was there on the night. I spent time with Gerry and Kate during the week before May 3 and after.
What happened?
“Their emotions and their reactions were just agonising. There’s just no way they were involved in anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance.
“If you take the common sense approach and look at timings and the fact they are medics and there are four other medics in the group, they would know what to do to resuscitate a child.
Common sense? Doctors. Such are the facts.
“Anyone with an ounce of common sense would be able to see they couldn’t have done it. And I was there and I know they didn’t do it.”
DAILY STAR: “OUTRAGEOUS”
Rachel Oldfield has a pop at the Portuguese police, and complains about being bound by law to, er, keep quiet.
GLASGOW DAILY RECORD: “McCanns’ Anger At Being Kept In The Dark”
Says Gerry McCann: “I think it’s safe to say we’re getting very little information. We haven’t had any communication in terms of what’s been done in the investigation.”
“We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’ve always said we want to leave no stone unturned and to do that we need to know which stones have already been overturned.”
THE SUN: “Stop shifting blame, Kate”
IS it just me or are the McCanns getting on your nerves too?
It’s you. It’s them. It might be all of you.
Now, in a new TV documentary, Kate says that she wanted a baby monitor but the resort didn’t have one. So instead she, Gerry and the Tapas Seven made the bizarre decision to eat out every night and leave three young children home alone. I’m sorry, in any language that’s child neglect.
Sorry? Why is Gaunt sorry?
And, by the way, I’m not being heartless, just honest.
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann’s father: police gave up”
Mr McCann tells BBC Radio 4 interviewer Steve Kingstone: “We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’d like know who has been eliminated from the inquiry and on what grounds and what leads are still being followed.”
No news is news

Too many diversions for me making mistakes now so I think it”s time to beat a hasty
retreat. Nah, you can keep your scones, don”t like burnt ones. Give em to Kate, she
needs fattening up.

Hi there, nice to “see” you.
Wasn”t it reported that Wilkins was talking to Gerry outside 5a where Gerry had just
checked on the children. the shutters would certainly have been closed then. It was Kate who noticed the cold air when she checked.
If true her check was 10.00pm there is a discrepancy with Mrs Fenn”s statement,
Again, if true, Mrs. Fenn says she had just finished watching the BBC News which finishes at 10.25pm when she heard the commotion on Kate”s balcony. She offered
to phone the Police but Kate said they had already been informed. How could she know if she was screaming on the balcony?

“I was there and i know they did not do it” ….she was there? WHERE?”
Lots about the interview which I find interesting, even though we know it will have been cut and edited, and bits may appear out of context.
BUT, as we have discussed before in relation to Clarrie, the only persons who can KNOW that they did not do ‘IT’ would be someone who was there, and either saw someone else do ‘IT’, or did ‘IT’ themselves, and in either case saw that the McCs were not involved in ‘IT’, either because the McCs were not present when ‘IT’ happened, or were present but merely as bystanders taking no part in ‘IT’, and not intervening.
Since the McCs have both said several times they regret not being there “at that moment’, we are forced, rather than drawn, to the conclusion that everyone who has spoken so far is talking about a specific event, which by definition either ended Madeleine’s life, or ended the McC’s association with their daughter. References to resuscitation again force one to the former conclusion.
Why the journalists do not ask a very simple supplementary question I do not know. It is as if all their years of experience has suddenly deserted them for the last year.
The question should very be couched very approximately in the following terms
“What the hell are you talking about, woman. Explain what you have just said, so that we can all understand?”

It’s not quite as you say is it Daisy? The Press didn’t embellish/adjust, they’ve hidden the truth and defamed Gonçalo Amaral spinning only parts of the Cipriano case. And the reasons that made the British Press to take that stance and maintain a racist editorial guideline is relevant to understand the development of the Maddie case in the Media. The abuse of the press calling a CID Inspector of Pig, Fat, Lazy, Drunk was without a doubt an attempt to undermine Amaral’s reputation and an attack to the Judiciary Portuguese Police. It’s not even ethical in any journalists code to express systematically such biased opinions and sometimes even lies, manipulating the general British public and setting off a war of words between two countries.
————————————–
It is certainly not ethical, but then neither is using exactly the same tactics to start a real war.
Which has also been done.
And a lot of people have died, and continue to die, as a result of that…

Why did Wilkins say it was a narrow PATH and it would be difficult for someone to pass unnoticed was the conversation with GM actually on the other path near the metal apartment gate ?
Wilkins knew that the mecons were staying in the corner apartment, presumably the oldfields shutters were closed in the apartment next door ?
Should Wilkins have noticed the open window and shutter in his new friends apartment ?? as he walked back to his apartment ? if indeed it had been open ?

I thought it was more icing on the cake.
Of course, if Ian were still around we would have been shot for failing to note, at all times, and in all posts, that only a deeply neglectful parent would allow their children to eat jammies.
After all, they are supposed to wear them…

Cruel, but funny.
I just listened to the Radio Broadcast, is that right “the files to be opened the middle of
May”.? Maybe that”s why the Radio and Documentary are being broadcast.

Jo,
I think most people who know that:
‘‘Matthew Oldfield was the only group member, beyond Madeleine’s parents, to enter the McCanns’ apartment during the dinner….But not having set foot in the children’s bedroom, he cannot be sure of whether the little girl was there or not.’
are unlikely to regard Rachel Oldfield as an entirely disinterested witness.
As Mandy Rice-Davies almost said:
Well, she would say that, wouldn’t she…

Any why doesn’t GM shave below his shirt line, or depilate.

It was years ago I saw the film too, he couldn”t trump that could he.
anyway, Iv”e just been listening to the BBC4 Radio Interview, found it very unbiased
and couldn”t really understand why RO was trundled in. On the one hand she is saying the Group kept their side of the bargain by not discussing the case so why air her views
now? That “rescusitate” word is a strange one to use , and who was David Hughes, the
spokesman for Gerry when he left the Police Station after being made an arguido?

Good on him!!! Thats the first time anyone has challenged him! Did you notice that clarrie doesnt know how much is left in the fund? Find that very hard to beleive, then ended the interview appealing for more money! Vile people!
