I’ve always been uneasy about the media carnival, but figured if that’s what got her parents through the night, what business was it of mine.
However, one year on, there’s something distasteful about the continuing round of claim and counter-claim, blame and counter-blame.
Gerry and Kate McCann should be left alone with their demons, with our sympathy, and not live out their guilt in public any longer. The police and the private detectives should be left to get on with their job.
The Tapas Seven, the McCanns’ PR man, the professional ghouls should all keep their theories to themselves.
And their opinions?

Tapas Seven? And why speak now?
Rachael Oldfield, a 36-year-old recruitment consultant, said: “I was there on the night. I spent time with Gerry and Kate during the week before May 3 and after.
What happened?
“Their emotions and their reactions were just agonising. There’s just no way they were involved in anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance.
“If you take the common sense approach and look at timings and the fact they are medics and there are four other medics in the group, they would know what to do to resuscitate a child.
Common sense? Doctors. Such are the facts.
“Anyone with an ounce of common sense would be able to see they couldn’t have done it. And I was there and I know they didn’t do it.”

Rachel Oldfield has a pop at the Portuguese police, and complains about being bound by law to, er, keep quiet.

Says Gerry McCann: “I think it’s safe to say we’re getting very little information. We haven’t had any communication in terms of what’s been done in the investigation.”
“We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’ve always said we want to leave no stone unturned and to do that we need to know which stones have already been overturned.”
THE SUN: “Stop shifting blame, Kate”
IS it just me or are the McCanns getting on your nerves too?
It’s you. It’s them. It might be all of you.
Now, in a new TV documentary, Kate says that she wanted a baby monitor but the resort didn’t have one. So instead she, Gerry and the Tapas Seven made the bizarre decision to eat out every night and leave three young children home alone. I’m sorry, in any language that’s child neglect.

And, by the way, I’m not being heartless, just honest.
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann’s father: police gave up”
Mr McCann tells BBC Radio 4 interviewer Steve Kingstone: “We would like to know what is being done to find Madeleine. We’d like know who has been eliminated from the inquiry and on what grounds and what leads are still being followed.”

veritable yes it does
the criteria is that they are alive at discharge
diesn’t matter if they will never talk / eat/ laugh etc again
And you must also remeber that these statistics only include those who are well enough/ fit enough to recussitate in the first place
Many are deemed too poorly and the decision is taken not to even try

Interesting comment by Brian Kennedy, Dr K’s uncle, when asked when
the McCann’s might be coming back to England…(now that they had just
been made Arguidos).
Seems he was not in the least bit aware of the Timescale.

Hi Mods & Admin,
I think, I can’t post links any more. It happened yesterday (link to the telegraph) and on another thread one ot two weeks ago, and now again. I wanted to post a short link to YouTube, where Mrs. Fenn says she has never talked to journalists and that all was “rubbish”.
It’s not a big problem, I’m just curious why it doesn’t work any more.

Interesting point on our libel laws; the fact that someone else has already published a libel is not a defence if you repeat that libel.
Which is why there is a deathly silence from Team McCann on anything but the most anodyne of remarks.
And why our press has started using phrases like ‘reported plan’ instead of the straightforward ‘has done’ something.
But that’s not what my post was about.
It was about being fair to an elderly lady who, as her son has pointed out:
‘”was hounded for months and months, and for the first few months she couldn’t park her car and could barely leave the house,”
“She doesn’t know anything, and she won’t tell you anything, and I ask you, please, not to knock on her door.”

I must say I wonder about that. Is there an internationally agreed code of ethics for journos which could be appealed to and brought in at some point ? A body with teeth which could call them to account ? Of course any injured party could sue on factual misrepresentation…..but ‘consistant intent to mislead’ or ‘overall bias’ might be something too hard to pin down and substantiate ???? And yet it is an injustice and an intolerable state of affairs ….is it not?

Wasn”t it reported that Wilkins was talking to Gerry outside 5a where Gerry had just
checked on the children. the shutters would certainly have been closed then. It was Kate who noticed the cold air when she checked.
If true her check was 10.00pm there is a discrepancy with Mrs Fenn”s statement,
Again, if true, Mrs. Fenn says she had just finished watching the BBC News which finishes at 10.25pm when she heard the commotion on Kate”s balcony. She offered
to phone the Police but Kate said they had already been informed. How could she know if she was screaming on the balcony?

I think the story has been different everytime it has been told. Now it seems to me that nobody can remember who has told what to whom .
I don’t think that would be the case if the truth had been told, it would always remain the same wouldn’t it ?

There is no evidence that Mrs Fenn has made any statements to the media, and since it would be a breach of the secrecy requirements if she did so, it isn’t fair to claim that she did…
