Madeleine McCann: Sometimes We Feel Like Giving Up
“SOMETIMES WE JUST FEL LIKE GIVING UP” declares the Mirror “…but Maddie just keeps us going”.
The headline is not, as you might think, an anguished crie de coeur from the paper’s editors. It is, of course, a quote from Kate McCann. The legend at the top of the page reads: “McCANNS 1 YEAR ON”.
Other papers follow suit, with the Sun featuring a 12-page special and pin-up size pictures of “The face we will never forget”.
The Star eschews such tacky emotionalism and goes for a hard news story for its cover: “MUSLIM SICKOS’ MADDIE KIDNAP SHOCK.”
The paper says police are set to investigate a “vile attack on Madeleine McCann’s parents” by Muslim extremists.
What kind of attack? A suicide bomb, perhaps?
No. In a “hysterical rant” on the internet, “fanatics blame the couple for her disappearance”.
All very interesting. But what of the Star’s stablemate, the Maddy Express? What extravaganza are they offering for Day 365? A 28-page special?
Curiously, the front page is bereft of the face we will never forget. Perhaps Express Newspapers have issued a completely separate edition of the paper devoted entirely to all things McCann?
Nope. The newsagents’ shelves are bereft.
We jest, of course. The paper has, as you know, steered clear of the subject since being hammered in court for its scurrilous and exploitative coverage of the case. Coverage that included far from subtle insinuations that the Kate and Gerry McCann were implicated in their daughter’s disappearance. (Not to be confused, we hasten to add, with “hysterical rants” by “fanatics”.)
With no Maddy and no Diana, what is “THE WORLD’S GREATEST PAPER” to do?

Me, my partner and our 18 month old baby were in Fuerteventura 2 years ago. Child woke up 5am every morning and we would take it in turns to take her out for a walk about 6am while the other slept on. I always went out the front leaving the patio doors unlocked while my other half went out the back and locked the appartment up. The swimming pool cleaner was there every morning-2 days to go and I came back to find handbag-passport camera everything gone-while my partner was fast asleep-does anyone think the staff would be in the best place to know exactly where everybody was……..just another line of thought.

That - for me - was one of the most exciting moments during “our” months long “sleuthing” time here, when Stevo came with the altar photo WITHOUT the elbow…!!!! Because, why on earth would they have been doctoring photos as early as that ???

Chenier-Yep see your point-but didn’t they not treat it as an abduction forquite some time-did they have CCTV coverage of all vehicles in the area on that night?-Could have been someone on foot put her in boot of car-and kept her locally? hell do you know…..I just don’t know!? It’s a village.
If something like that happened here in the City of London there would be gazillions of camera footage.
But in a village you don’t get that sort of saturation coverage.
As I pointed out, the PJ traced and eliminated anyone with even the hint of possible form; it’s not flashy but it is what police do the world over.
And MWT for reasons known only to himself is studiously ignoring that fact.
As well as the questions of who left the door open, when they left the door open, and why they left the door open…

yes i agree, if she had genuinely been abducted, then you would suspect everyone around you, your child would come first, and the first people you would suspect would be staff at the mw complex, if it is to be believed that they refused child minding on the evening, then they would know their routine. you certainly would not leave your other 2 children with the creche, you would be completely paranoid! My hubby is half way through the Sun article as i said earlier, putting him in a bad mood! Those two seem to be missing the protective gene that comes with parenthood

I read your answer about my post a few hours ago.It confirms what I am/was thinking about Amarals removing from the case.You might be right: charging the mccanns could mean7have possible political repercussions against portugals interests.It also means,truth and justice could never be made to Madeleine
I have been fighting against this kind of situations all my life and “it” happens over and over again but I will never give up the fight.Never

I think I agree with you, I reckon she had an “accident” during a bath or slipped on the mat, banged her head or something, the twins were given something to help them sleep as the fragrant two needed time and clarity and peace to think and sort things out and knew it was going to be a busy night…..and I think it happened the day before.
If its wrong to suspect the mccans its because the media have reduced us to this, and the various leaks and spins from Clarrie have poured oil on troubled waters. It would be nice to try the innocent until proven guilty…….but there actions like sticking the twins in the creche and buggering off to see the pope etc have left me cold.

Maybe a media deal has been struck? It’s big money isn’t - if you think about it, papers and the media have appeared to have a change of heart - one day in support - another to cast doubt. Like Sky News on their trail for news channel of the year have KM upfront. And yet they still report in support.
I think media wise - we’re being played like a fiddle. Just keep watching - just keep buying and on and on it goes.
The big threats come out when Ameral (sp) soz, says he’s writing a book. Next thing you know McCanns are writing a book.
I know which one I’ll buy and which one to leave on the shelf - or, actually have a sneeky view in a bookstore but wouldn’t pay money for it.

I agree about not knowing the exact time, but if there head was into checking on the kids, surely you would be checking watches to see you were checking regularly, or otherwise how would they know they were checking every half hour? Too many things dont add up, and yes everyone reacts differently, but dont beleive they dont know what happened to her

No you or I probably wouldn’t-but people react differently-I thought they were crazy-But-I can’t get my head round how you get rid of a body
-and I don’t believe all this photo stuff nonsense-what is the point of doctoring(!) photos? can’t see what that would achieve-and if you go out for a meal do you always know within 5 minutes what time it is when it doesn’t seem important at the time?
