Madeleine McCann: Sometimes We Feel Like Giving Up
“SOMETIMES WE JUST FEL LIKE GIVING UP” declares the Mirror “…but Maddie just keeps us going”.
The headline is not, as you might think, an anguished crie de coeur from the paper’s editors. It is, of course, a quote from Kate McCann. The legend at the top of the page reads: “McCANNS 1 YEAR ON”.
Other papers follow suit, with the Sun featuring a 12-page special and pin-up size pictures of “The face we will never forget”.
The Star eschews such tacky emotionalism and goes for a hard news story for its cover: “MUSLIM SICKOS’ MADDIE KIDNAP SHOCK.”
The paper says police are set to investigate a “vile attack on Madeleine McCann’s parents” by Muslim extremists.
What kind of attack? A suicide bomb, perhaps?
No. In a “hysterical rant” on the internet, “fanatics blame the couple for her disappearance”.
All very interesting. But what of the Star’s stablemate, the Maddy Express? What extravaganza are they offering for Day 365? A 28-page special?
Curiously, the front page is bereft of the face we will never forget. Perhaps Express Newspapers have issued a completely separate edition of the paper devoted entirely to all things McCann?
Nope. The newsagents’ shelves are bereft.
We jest, of course. The paper has, as you know, steered clear of the subject since being hammered in court for its scurrilous and exploitative coverage of the case. Coverage that included far from subtle insinuations that the Kate and Gerry McCann were implicated in their daughter’s disappearance. (Not to be confused, we hasten to add, with “hysterical rants” by “fanatics”.)
With no Maddy and no Diana, what is “THE WORLD’S GREATEST PAPER” to do?
Read on, dear reader, read on…

Suzi /whoops
It depends which version team mcc are on.
Initially the hairbead seemed to be very important. G describes K lovingly removing the bead (for whatever reason) at bath time.
But the latest version has G returning to the appartment and he’s suprised to find that the K has the kids all showered and ready for bed.

No.
The ways things were going tonight the delivery guy would probably fallen off his scooter and sued me for reckless endangerment- viz ordering a double pepperoni hot, thus causing him to exceed the speed limit.
I nuked something from the freezer; still not quite sure what it was but it definitely had tomatoes in it…

i think it was the fact that kate drew so much attention to the fact the she bathed her and took the bead out the night she went missing, but speculation is that whatever happened happened the night before, but the photo by the pool collaborated that the bead/band was there because the photo was dated and timed…..
Does that make any sense?

Clouseau 313:
“would have happened long ago..there is much more to this sorry affair than the dimise of that poor girl….”
Yes Clouseau, but could it not be that those who know they will in the end cause the case to be closed, also know that what they then do must appear not to be arbitrary and intrusive but as part of due process ? So they must hold back for as long as the portuguese law allows. And unfortunately for them, it allows these extensions of secrecy precisely because the PJ have been able to argue the complexity of the case….[quite possibly including aspects about which they have revealed nothing]
And so to the end it would appear to be a balancing act or a war of attrition……..Maybe no-one knows the outcome. Or maybe spme do ???

No we didn’t get anything back-and the police showed no interest whatsoever in dusting for fingerprints -I know it is only stuff but when you have a suspect in mind it’s a bit annoying.
Now call me dull, but I don’t get the significance of the hair bead stuff-would be really grateful if someone could spell it out.

Chenier - you should be ashamed
That tin of corned beef would have feed a family in darfur for a week
and you can open then with a tin opener - just open the top, turn upside down open the bottom and push out… simple
Never go near those key thingy’s myself. If you buy them with the keys missing you get money off too.

Whimper, whimper.
I tried that and broke the can opener.
Somewhere or another I have an electric can opener, but its in the boxes which still have not been unpacked because my kitchen is still not finished.
The plastic can opener is now in the bin along with the tin.

How many people in this entire world go out leaving doors open. Risk assessment:
passports could get nicked
money could get nicked
airline tickets could get nicked
jewellery could get nicked
designer clothes could get nicked
your favourite beauty products could get nicked (lot of money there)
Hey squatters could even take over and move in
Not to mention that a three year old and two year old twins could get nicked.

Keep the faith!!!! I havnt heard any more about the towel in the barn or phone triangulation, but am hoping the pj have that up their sleeves, too much evidence against them and none for an abduction. What was that about a pig farmer? Thats my hubbys theory, wouldnt be trace would there?

Pig farmer with gun and conviction for raping an 18 year old girl traced and eliminated 20 days after Madeleine vanished.
PJ were obviously looking at pig farmers as well…

Did you ever get your belongings back?
And yes, believe it or not, experienced investigators do the boringly obvious things like asking everybody boringly obvious questions…
MWT has very carefully not specified a time for the door to have been left open, nor an individual responsible for leaving the door open.
Those are not questions which an investigator would omit.

And-why would they just want money? it’s not as if they can jet off to the Bahamas ever because someone will say….that’s where the money went-if they did it-why attract attention-why not just go home after a respectable time and get on with life……..

I would imagine the police have exhausted that line of enquiry. They have stuck with the same theory from day one, they are the experts after all, they have evidence and have listened first hand to what the mccs have to say. We can only speculate on here, but i dont think for one second they would carry on with this line if there wasnt anything in it or they were getting pressure from the government, they could have made excuses ages ago and retired gracefully

Yeah - you’re right Jo and as somebody said on this forum - follow the money - just follow the money.
Oh and lots of people have commented on Clarrie’s absence haven’t they? Well they do not need to worry because Clarrie has gone back to his base plan - his team e.g. Justine McGuinness and she’s bringing the dosh in with her article on Sunday. I tell you, I will never ever believe a word I hear on TV or radio ever again. Because they either give a snippet or they just lie through their teeth.
I reckon Clarrie was told to STFU - so sent Justine back in. And she too is seriously annoying.
April 28th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
what ever happened about the hotel towel they found in that barn? and the triangulation points of the mobile calls that pinpointed it? And the bag of clothes found by the road that could have been maddies?
I don’t know what to believe and what not to believe anymore, but were there no camcorders in the creche to show the twins and maddie that day before?
I have so many questions, but none of the answers make any sense.
If they were going to charge the mccanns I think they would have by now, unless they are waiting for the one year anniversary!!!
