Madeleine McCann: Sometimes We Feel Like Giving Up
“SOMETIMES WE JUST FEL LIKE GIVING UP” declares the Mirror “…but Maddie just keeps us going”.
The headline is not, as you might think, an anguished crie de coeur from the paper’s editors. It is, of course, a quote from Kate McCann. The legend at the top of the page reads: “McCANNS 1 YEAR ON”.
Other papers follow suit, with the Sun featuring a 12-page special and pin-up size pictures of “The face we will never forget”.
The Star eschews such tacky emotionalism and goes for a hard news story for its cover: “MUSLIM SICKOS’ MADDIE KIDNAP SHOCK.”
The paper says police are set to investigate a “vile attack on Madeleine McCann’s parents” by Muslim extremists.
What kind of attack? A suicide bomb, perhaps?
No. In a “hysterical rant” on the internet, “fanatics blame the couple for her disappearance”.
All very interesting. But what of the Star’s stablemate, the Maddy Express? What extravaganza are they offering for Day 365? A 28-page special?
Curiously, the front page is bereft of the face we will never forget. Perhaps Express Newspapers have issued a completely separate edition of the paper devoted entirely to all things McCann?
Nope. The newsagents’ shelves are bereft.
We jest, of course. The paper has, as you know, steered clear of the subject since being hammered in court for its scurrilous and exploitative coverage of the case. Coverage that included far from subtle insinuations that the Kate and Gerry McCann were implicated in their daughter’s disappearance. (Not to be confused, we hasten to add, with “hysterical rants” by “fanatics”.)
With no Maddy and no Diana, what is “THE WORLD’S GREATEST PAPER” to do?
Read on, dear reader, read on…

Matthew Oldfield….”came back and said the children were too tired and they were already in their pajamas” Panorama
Did Oldfield actually see Maddy at 6.40? I never read or heard it(video) anywhere.

Hi everyone - I appreciate what you all say, but when you read items like this “McCann twins pick up the phone every day to ask ‘Where are you Madeleine? ” which was reported in a news report during the past couple of days - for goodness sake - the twins are only just 3 years old. When Madeleine went missing they had just turned 2 - do the McCanns not realise that as parents and grandparents - we KNOW what conception a two year old has ( which quite honestly is very little) The twins would NEVER “pick up the phone every day to ask ‘Where are you Madeleine?” They might ask where their teddy bear was, or sniff at the idea of 5 a day fruit and veg - but they were only 2 in February last year - still in nappies by the McCanns own admission (remember having to transport pee ridden nappies in the car to the tip =- hence the dna?) Search out a two year old - one that has only just had their 2nd birthday - and try having a conversation with them……………..what are the McCanns trying to do - use the twins as witnesses???

I think it was noting that Stevo has been appointed as a moderator at 3As…

Right. But I couldn’t find any “link” he was referring too.
Also I do not want to register with 3A [and a lot of other sites] and therefor a link is practical to get “behind” the gate. Incidentally still curious why C&C would mention me of all people to be on this 3A site …

413 Annie1,
c…”closed without conclusion.”
If it would be the case, it would be closed by now. Investigations about a crime can take years and years. For us, it is taking too long, but every police is used to situations like this one.
They even did not free Murat yet of being arguido. Don’t forget it is not yet one month ago they went to England.
They still have to make the reconstruction.
The reconstruction will be based, of course, on the statements made in May and now.
Preparations take time.

No legal system is perfect; I was interested in the point made by an ex-pat in, I think, an Irish newspaper that when the Portuguese overthrew the dictatorship they wanted to put a stop to a system in which the accused had very little chance once the police had got him/her.
It is much harder to bring charges in Portugual than it is here.
In England someone can be arrested and held while police continue their inquiries, looking for more evidence to support a conviction.
That can’t be done in Portugual.
If charges are brought the conviction rate is higher than in this country…

Firestar - if you’re into conspiracy theories…
Once upon a time there was a newspaper forum site, which was a popular place for people to discuss the ‘dissapearance’ of a litle blonde girl.
Another site was born and was jealous of the newspaper site. So it sent in ‘moles’ to state how many ‘insiders’ posted on it, and others to cause trouble. Eventually the newspaper site had to shut down. This conveniently occured just as the ‘new’ site changed its server to allow increased traffic.

I am really now of the opinion that the pj would have brought charges - if they have anywhere near the amount of evidence to convict anyone. It is a shame that the secret of Madeleine’s disappearance was probably due to the secrecy laws. I feel sure that had everyone been allowed to “spout out” then there would have been slip ups which would have been noted. The secrecy law has give “thinking” time which also makes the event distanced. It is easier to deny saying something 12 months on, whereas if everything had been out in the open from day one, then subsequent reports of events and the various accounts of what happened on that night would have been in the media which makes everyone associated with the reports accountable. I am sure that had they not been sworn to secret - we would have known exactly what happened on that holiday, and exactly what happened to Madeleine. I am really sorry, but I do fear that this case will be closed without conclusion

interesting link you posted re 3a’s.
as you know, i suspected the truth for madeleine site since its conception was something other than it appeared to be, which was borne out when its owner asked me to make friends with him when i started putting his clientele off.
the same people seem to be involved with the 3a’s,
i expect it’ll all come out in the wash.

not a chance of that…would have happened long ago..there is much more to this sorry affair than the dimise of that poor girl….

Almost agreed… But in my view
There is NOTHING in this whole sorry affair to do with the demise of that poor girl.

Very stramge indeed how when asked whether Madeleine was asleep when they left for the tapas, there was an ummm and ahhhhh, hesitation??!! but can remember taking a bead out of her hair (carefully, no less!!) according to the Gerry blog. I think that the McCanns are wasted as Dr.s - they should be star role actors.
