Madeleine McCann: Tabloid Columnists On Harry Potter, Frtizl And Bile
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to the columnists’ views on Madeleine McCann and family:
JANE MOORE (Sun): “Silence is not an option for the McCanns”
“Just suppose little Madeleine is trapped in a cellar somewhere, hidden from view while her warped captor conducts a seemingly normal life upstairs.”
Like Elisabeth Frtizl? It’s Tabloid Bingo. Eye down…
LORRAINE KELLY (Sun): “They deserve sympathy, not condemnation”
Since my daughter Rosie was a baby, she has always come everywhere with us when we go on holiday, especially to child-friendly countries such as Portugal, Spain and Greece. We wouldn’t have dreamed about leaving her behind to go for a meal because we go away to spend as much time as possible together as a family.
JON GAUNT (Sun): “I have little support for them”
Do you remember when you put your first baby to bed with a listening monitor and sat downstairs watching the box almost with subtitles on so you could hear every heartbeat?
If you heard an unexpected cough or belch you would sprint up the stairs faster than druggy Dwain Chambers on steroids to check on your little angel. That’s called parenting, isn’t it?
I wonder if the McCanns were as casual with their passports and valuables when they went out at night because as far as I am concerned there is nothing more precious than your child and they appear to have had scant regard for their safety.
ALLISON PEARSON (Mail): “The McCann campaign must NOT go on for ever”
Since May 3 last year, how many parents have mentally run the “Maddie safety test|” before daring to turn away from their children even for a moment? That may be her lasting legacy and our greatest burden.
Still, my small boy is not satisfied. “Maddie” is the big story of his childhood, bigger even than Harry Potter and infinitely more disturbing.
Harry Potter is Madeleine McCann? It’s all just stories. Any others?
There is a fascination in a momentary mistake that can never be undone, no matter how much a mother persecutes herself. In Greek tragedy, Antigone, the daughter of King Oedipus, cannot rest until she has recovered the body of her brother after his death in battle and given it a proper burial. One suffering leads to another. And there is some of that obsession, and that remorselessness, in the case of the McCanns.
But:
Do the two doctors really deserve two whole hours of prime-time when so many other people’s kids are lost and thousands are dying in Zimbabwe? Even those, like me, who have never doubted Gerry and Kate’s innocence must feel a flinch of unease.

“So did they go too far? Is their behaviour reasonable, or at least acceptable? Without knowing the outcome, I simply can’t say - no, really I can’t”.
————-
I just read your post.
There is the question over their behaviour, but their behaviour would amount to nothing if it wasn’t given such ampleness through the media. They and the media are associated in it, each one with their own interest and agenda.
If they are really fighting for the girl, I don’t think they are doing it too well. If they are fighting for themselves, they haven’t done too badly until today, as most British people probably believe in their innocence, but they are reaching the overdose stage, as we can see from the reactions above.

The attack certainly hasn”t been as fierce as this and it is putting the PJ on the defensive again. The Prosecutor obviously makes the choice on whether to press
charges on the evidence available, which up to now doesn”t seem sufficient. That is why I fail to see what other evidence can be obtained, and the case may well be shelved
with the McCanns status lifted. Any Lawyer would argue that you cannot remain an
arguido for years to come if there is not enough evidence to charge you. Don”t know
whether they can still be charged with negligence.
—————————————————————-
Why?
You keep saying that it is putting the PJ on the defensive again, but you never, ever provide any examples of what you think demonstrates that the PJ is on the defensive.
Just saying something does not make it so.
As for the ‘any lawyer’, the Portuguese lawyers are certainly not claiming that the PJ must release the 3 As from their status now.
And with all due respect, you have no idea whether there is further evidence to be obtained. The fact that you can’t think of any is no guarantee that the highly skilled investigators working the case can’t think of any.
Which is why the highly skilled investigators are working on the case, and you are posting on anorak!

It is funny how obsessed some skinny bitches are with eating out, when their main concern would be moving a piece of lettice around the plate, not to eat, and then jog any calories away. Whoever disappears in the meantime is their last worry. Just a thought.

My children are VERY scared of K&G.
I did not know that, until, when one day myh kids were really naighty, I said to them jokingly: do you want ungle G. with auntie K. to come to take you to bed? What a sick mistake it was on my part. They suddenly became so serious, smiles have gone from their faces, and the eldest one said: How can you possibly say this to us, how can you be so cruel, we know we didn’t behave, but this is beyond any punishment, these words… I had to apologise as sincerely as I could.

Note how in the documentary Kate barely moves her mouth, it is as if after a dentist’s injection. When lying, I think it is difficult to move the muscles of the mouth naturally, because the poker player’s face expression is in need to be maintained, so the brain can’t cope. Only the best actors manage, like Emma Thompson, for example. Look at K.’s interview again for fun.

I was just googling the Bulger case.
Do they really think it’s wise that the murderers are out of prison? I mean 42 separate injuries, a suspected sexual assault and being in the company of the boys for hours before they even hit him - that’s so sadistic, surely there’s a deep problem there???

http://www.theherald.co.uk/news/news/display.var.2234859.0.McCanns_left_children_in_flat_because_we_did_not_have_a_buggy.php
‘…Interviewed for the programme, Madeleine, One Year On: Campaign For Change, the McCanns also spoke extensively of their emotions on the night of May 3/4 and their desperate dawn search through deserted streets for their daughter’.
So they did search that night?
Emma Loach producer who spent months working with the couple asks “As parents we could all be in that position,” she said.”I’ve got three boys a similar age. They made a judgment call that went terribly wrong for them. I feel I make similar judgment calls every single day.”
Not trying to be mean but does this relate to the guilt (she has written about) over her decision to have an abortive early birth of a foetus with downs syndrome?
‘In the programme, Mrs McCann hinted openly for the first time at a deal reportedly offered to her by police if she admitted accidentally killing Madeleine and staging an abduction. She told the programme she was not going to be “railroaded”.
Maybe she would prefer the option of the lengthier, less lenient end of sentence band for abandonment?
‘Repeating her belief that Madeleine could still be alive, Mrs McCann also spoke movingly of seeing their daughter’s best friend and wondering whether she, too, would be taller now or writing her name.’
Ah not only living like a princess but receiving an education?
‘Mrs McCann spoke of her relationship with her daughter whom she called a “buddy”.’
Do parents who feel like a buddy to their children unfairly equalise them, and feel less responsibility for their children?
‘She also described her need to protect her two other children, twins Sean and Amelie, on hearing she was to be made an arguido, as like a lioness protecting her cubs.’
But how well does a buddy protect her children?
‘Speaking about May 3 in detail, Mr McCann said the couple and their seven friends considered going out to eat at the Millennium, another restaurant, rather than having tapas nearby and leaving their children sleeping.”I think the worst thing is we kind of almost thought about not going and . . . did,” he said.’
Kind of sort of…
‘Mrs McCann added: “In fact, we were all . . . going to go up to the Millennium again, that was with the kids, which is what we did the first night. It was just because the walk was so long and we didn’t have a buggy and the kids were tired by that time.”‘
Is this for real? Anyway what about that photo of them pushing the double buggy?
‘Mrs McCann spoke openly about Madeleine’s comments on the morning of May 3.She told the interviewer: “I can’t remember if we’d just had breakfast. It was sort of fairly early in the morning.’
Before or after breakfast so what?
As ever whenever they speak it raises lots of questions. So who is watching tonight?
