Madeleine McCann: Tabloid Columnists On Harry Potter, Frtizl And Bile
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to the columnists’ views on Madeleine McCann and family:
JANE MOORE (Sun): “Silence is not an option for the McCanns”
“Just suppose little Madeleine is trapped in a cellar somewhere, hidden from view while her warped captor conducts a seemingly normal life upstairs.”
Like Elisabeth Frtizl? It’s Tabloid Bingo. Eye down…
LORRAINE KELLY (Sun): “They deserve sympathy, not condemnation”
Since my daughter Rosie was a baby, she has always come everywhere with us when we go on holiday, especially to child-friendly countries such as Portugal, Spain and Greece. We wouldn’t have dreamed about leaving her behind to go for a meal because we go away to spend as much time as possible together as a family.
JON GAUNT (Sun): “I have little support for them”
Do you remember when you put your first baby to bed with a listening monitor and sat downstairs watching the box almost with subtitles on so you could hear every heartbeat?
If you heard an unexpected cough or belch you would sprint up the stairs faster than druggy Dwain Chambers on steroids to check on your little angel. That’s called parenting, isn’t it?
I wonder if the McCanns were as casual with their passports and valuables when they went out at night because as far as I am concerned there is nothing more precious than your child and they appear to have had scant regard for their safety.
ALLISON PEARSON (Mail): “The McCann campaign must NOT go on for ever”
Since May 3 last year, how many parents have mentally run the “Maddie safety test|” before daring to turn away from their children even for a moment? That may be her lasting legacy and our greatest burden.
Still, my small boy is not satisfied. “Maddie” is the big story of his childhood, bigger even than Harry Potter and infinitely more disturbing.
Harry Potter is Madeleine McCann? It’s all just stories. Any others?
There is a fascination in a momentary mistake that can never be undone, no matter how much a mother persecutes herself. In Greek tragedy, Antigone, the daughter of King Oedipus, cannot rest until she has recovered the body of her brother after his death in battle and given it a proper burial. One suffering leads to another. And there is some of that obsession, and that remorselessness, in the case of the McCanns.
But:
Do the two doctors really deserve two whole hours of prime-time when so many other people’s kids are lost and thousands are dying in Zimbabwe? Even those, like me, who have never doubted Gerry and Kate’s innocence must feel a flinch of unease.

one piece of evidence to support the abduction please
April 30th, 2008 at 11:31 am
Much of the documentary is shot in the family home, where they are seen returning to everyday life: playing with the twins, preparing meals and hanging up washing. In one scene the couple are shown opening piles of letters, which are divided into labelled boxes. One reads “nutty”, another “nasty”. There is also a section for “well-wishers” and a receptacle for “psychics, visions, dreams”.
Kate McCann estimates that 1% of their post is hate mail, as her husband reads out a Christmas card accusing the couple of being “thieving bastards”. “Your brat is dead because of your drunken arrogance,” says the writer. “Shame on you. I curse you and your family to suffer forever. Cursed Christmas … You are scum.”
“That’s quite nice,” Gerry McCann remarks. “Very charming.”

Win Win in the Matty household!!
Mr Matty happy watchin footy instead of listening to me moaning on about the Mcs and TV intact at the end of the night because if they start with their spin the TV may not survive
Yes make mo mistake I will be glued to the footie. Why anyone would want to watch a bunch of self centered child neglectors on TV that spend peoples hard earned cash on their mortgage and employ compulsive liars to lie on their behalf and leech on every bit of ‘me time’ on Tv possible whilst trying to cover up their incredibly bad parenting skills is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy beyond me

Chenier 183 - quite right. I also think that.
But still… what is it that the police know that allows them to pinpoint to a death as a result of someone’s action (and not accident whilst alone in the room) and that someone being kate?…
————————————————-
I don’t think that the PJ have necessarily concluded that it was a deliberate act by someone, irrespective of who that someone is.
They may have done so, but I see nothing in the evidence available to us that makes me think, ah yes, this is what the PJ think.
Gerry is the last person to have claimed to see Madeleine alive; he is, by definition, the obvious suspect.
Remember, much of what has been said about Kate’s fits of rage has come from her husband’s family…

If what we heard here and there is true, the neighbour heard Kate more than Gerry.
Strangely, I had read -I can’t remember where-, that the mother was shrieking, saying “we let her down” (on the second or third, I can’t remember). And now, the grand-mother uses the same expression. “K thinks she let M. down”. Which makes me think there is some truth in what I heard previously about Mrs. Fenn over hearing a lot of things.

Yes no one would immediately think about borders and road blocks and did they search? Did they wait until light before searching just the two of them?
From Telegraph -Kate said: “It was really cold. I knew what pyjamas she had on and I just thought she’s going to be freezing. And it was just dark and dark and every minute seemed like an hour. “Obviously, we were up all night and just waited for the first bit of light at six o’clock.”
Mr McCann added: “And then we went out searching, the two of us.

Morning all!!!!
No TV on so we havn’t seen the Mc hype but my 4yr old daughter was just sitting with me and asked if Madeleines mam and dad were out of jail yet.
I asked her why she thought her mam and dad would be in jail and she said because they left Madeleine and the babies alone!!!!
Wise words from someone so small and no she isn’t brainwashed as far as Madeleines case goes. It’s rarely mentioned in the house as Mr Matty, although concerned for Madeleine, doesn’t follow the case in great detail.

Good Morning, the sun is shining where I am as well.
As I understood, these were not the first interviews the McCanns had with the police.
and I think the reason Kate is suspected of harming Madeleine is because:-
1. The PJ ruled out abduction very early in the investigation.
2. The blood spots supposedly found in the Apartment as well as the Wheelbase of the
car.
3. The Apartment was supposedly cleaned to such a degree that even the Curtains were
washed and it was remarked that there was no children”s medication, not even an
aspirin to be found. although reportedly an empty Syringe.
4. Kate”s Diary revealing that Madeleine was a handful, maybe confessing that Kate
barely had her feelings under control.
Personally, if she is guilty, I don”t know how she can brazen it out. Maybe the McCanns have been in denial so long they are enjoying their Celebrity status and truly
believe they are blameless………..who knows?

Can anyone think of a piece of information that may actually lead the PJ to think that Madeleine died at the hands of someone (and not alone)? And a second piece of information that would allow them to know that this someone was Kate and not Gerry or someone else (IMO only possible if exact time of death was determined)?

No

Chenier 183 - quite right. I also think that.
But still… what is it that the police know that allows them to pinpoint to a death as a result of someone’s action (and not accident whilst alone in the room) and that someone being kate?
I’ve been revisiting all the little bits of information that has been made public about the case, but I can’t find anything that would determine this so conclusively.
For example:
I understand that some of the blood traces that were allegedly found (allegedly pointing towards broken larynx) could indicate broken neck or strangulation. If you add to that information the place where they were found (eg in a curtain or high in the wall) we could possibly exclude the broken neck as result of a fall. Therefore we could even come to the finding that the circumstances of death were related to somoene’s actions (ie strangulation or a blow that broke the child’s neck). But why KAte?
I actually think that there’s not a lot that we don’t know about the evidence that the PJ have (all of it must have been mentioned one time or another by someone). But I do think that there may still be 1 or 2 pieces of information that have not been made public but that may be indicative of what really happened.
