UK wants to import “moderate” imams from South Asia.

Why is this stupid? Because it undermines the possibility of a genuinely UK imam corps being cultivated. Why is that bad? I’m not even going to bother to spell that out. The other problem is that the government is actually perpetuating the idea that Islam is a foreign thing which needs a foreign fix. This is bad for integration.
