Madeleine McCann: No Change, A Tourist Site And Entertainment
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE GUARDIAN: “Last night’s TV: Madeleine, One Year On: Campaign for Change”
It’s difficult to keep the visuals stimulating, too. We saw the McCanns at home in Leicestershire; Kate and Jerry talking on the sofa. But you can’t have two hours of sofa, so we joined them in a lot of taxis - in Portugal, London, Washington. And there were plenty of lingering tree shots - leafless, winter trees (this is a sad story, after all). And a flying heron … eh, what’s that about? Maybe the heron is an aguido, too. Does Sir Trevor know?
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine holiday apartment becomes ’sick tourist attraction’ one year on from her disappearance”
Coachloads of journalists arrive every day. It’s sick.
DAILY MIRROR: “Tourists posing for pictures at McCann tragedy spots”
Pensioner Pamela Fenn, who lives above the McCanns’ holiday apartment, said: “It’s sick.
“They stand outside and then have photographs taken with their children.”
A source close to the McCanns said yesterday: “It’s disgraceful.”
It’s not as if the disappearance of a missing child is entertaining.
The floodlights at Premiership club Everton will be switched on this Saturday to mark the anniversary in a campaign called Light The Way Home.
LIVERPOOL ECHO: “Madeleine McCann: Family prepare for first anniversary of her disappearance”
People around the world are being urged to light a candle, shine a torch or turn on a porch lamp on Saturday night as a gesture of support for Madeleine’s family and friends.
A lighter held in the air?
Robert Murat, the third arguido in the case, is intending to maintain a low profile and will probably stay away from Praia da Luz on Saturday.
He said: “The anniversary is for a little girl who went missing - Madeleine.
“The anniversary is not about us, the McCanns, the PJ (Portuguese detectives) or anything else but a little girl going missing.”
THE TIMES: “Madeleine, One Year On: Campaign for Change; Escape from Alcatraz: The True Story”
Stefanie Marsh: Why must television do compassion? Why, when faced with a captive audience, a prime-time slot and a story that could, if they’d let it, tell itself, must television turn to mush and mutate into a series of treacly Hallmark bereavement cards?…
At one point Gerry McCann admits that his “wife is carrying on in a quasi-real existence”. What she is really doing is falling apart, but too much gloop from the director turned the McCanns’ terrible situation into a guilt trip that made me want to watch The Apprentice instead.
THE INDEPENDENT: “Last Night’s TV: Madeleine, One Year On: Campaign for Change ITV1″
“You can’t always blame the parents,” says Thomas Stucliffe:
They still get a lot of letters, the McCanns, sorting them out into boxes marked “well-wishers”, “ideas”, “psychics” and “nutty”. Incredibly, they also need a box marked “nasty” for messages such as the one that Gerry read out at the beginning of the film. “How can you use money given by poor people in good faith to pay your mortgage on your mansion? You fucking thieving bastards. Your brat is dead because of your drunken arrogance. Shame on you. I curse you and your family to suffer forever. Cursed Christmas. If you had any shame, you would accept full responsibility for your daughter’s disappearance and give all the money back. You are scum.” This heart-warming expression of support had been written inside a Christmas card. The Daily Express, by contrast, chose to print its hate mail on its own front page, confident that there were enough readers out there who would prefer infanticide to unresolved mystery – or to no McCann story at all. And all the time, the McCanns themselves live a life horribly suspended between what might have been and what could happen next, between “if only” and “maybe”.

I think you might be thinking of the Paraiso restaurant where Gerry was apparently
dancing with Madeleine. this turned out to be a different family.
I know there is talk of them going to Chaplins where they have Happy Hour from I
think 11pm to 12pm and I think that is why the PJ want Bank Statements to prove they
paid for Meals and Drinks by Credit Card.
One thing I don”t know is how much further away from the Apartment Chaplin”s is.
I read a while ago on Sky Forum that the PJ reinterviewd a Waiter for three hours,
his identity is secret because he is an important witness.

Almost a year, a mountain of evidence + we know what happend PJ style, not one arrest, not one warrant issued, not one charge laid.

Good, isn’t it?
It took over a year to bring Ian Huntley to trial, since the forensics took over a year.
Even then, with mountains of evidence, he was convicted on an 11-1 vote of the jury.
And it took a week for the jury to decide:
‘The jurors in the trial of Ian Huntley and Maxine Carr were told today that the court would accept a majority verdict of 10 on all charges against the two accused.
The 12-member jury was recalled to court number one of the Old Bailey this morning, after they had been deliberating for just half an hour on their fourth day in the jury room.
As he had done when sending them out for the first time on Friday, Mr Justice Moses urged them to try to reach unanimous decisions but conceded that he would accept verdicts based on a 10-2 majority.
The seven women and five men have been considering the case for around 16 hours since first retiring.’
In the real world people are not banged up for life because some idiot hack thinks they look creepy.
In the real world parents are not presumed to be guilty just because the vast majority of child abusers are family members.
In the real world that is, as opposed to McCannville…

“GP Kate added: “There’s been an evil crime committed here, a hideous crime … It’s just so important to concentrate on that. “We’ve got to live with ourselves for that misjudgement but really the focus should be on that person who’s out there.”
Very important to concentrate on ……what? ah…the evil crime, sowwy, yeah, any idea who, how, where, why, what,if,when?….oh, live with yourselves? yuk,no thank you
Sure lets focus on any spin that comes to your mind, shall we?

This morning I drove past a spot where there was a fatal accident - just a year ago. There was a small group of people gathered there - They had come a distance, because I remember the incident which was just a mile or so from where I live and the victim was from a two 150 miles away. Why, I wonder are the McCanns not wanting to spend the night of Sunday in P de L. If they are SO intense about it all, then they should put themselves and their fears of returning to Portugal behind them and be there. What if, and I say this with tongue in cheek because I personally do not think that Madeleine was abducted - but what if some sicko who took her decided to return her to the very spot that she was taken from exactly a year earlier. Mum and Dad McC would not be there again, would they. If there is any chance whatsoever of Madeleine being “returned” as the McCanns are pleading - they need to be where she would be “returned” to - which is the apartment in P. de L.

are you using internet explorer?
if you are,
look in c:\documentsand settings\yourname\favourites and see if theres anything in there.
if the folder is greyed out, it means you have the folder hidden.
if this is just empty,
go to start\programs\accessories\system tools\system restore
and take the pc back to a day when it was working last week.

Val
I thought Dermot was good as he looked like he was all polite and everything, but he then unexpectedly slipped in 2 key questions to make them squirm.
If he had gone in all guns blazing it would have been another sympathy vote for picking on those poor parents.
He made them look like the bastards they are! quite discreetly and professionally I think!
Hear her voice go up 4 octaves and start to get angry??!!!

Interesting that KM was back to blonde, with lip gloss, on Sky today.
In the programme lst night she alternated between blonde and a very dark brunette.
A lot of strange facial twitches on Sky as well. Are these caused by questions ?
Also saw that GM held KMs hand throughout. Signalling ?
(I emphasise that I doubt it, Mr. Phat-Phee QC.)

I think the Press will pick up on the fact that they will not commit to going back to
Portugal, why are they so adamant that no useful purpose would be served? Like, you
don”t want a reconstruction which might jog someone”s memory, but are happy to
parade yourselves to all and sundry in the U.K. when your child went missing in Portugal???????
What is it that makes them so afraid to return to Portugal if they have nothing to hide.
I think the fact that the PJ are willing to spend more time and money getting everyone
together is the last attempt to discredit the T9 timelines when faced with other
Witness statements and the McCanns know this. Anything to save their ar..s

I just read this on the sky news site
But because the children were tired they changed their minds at the last minute and decided to feed them at the flat and dine instead with friends at the tapas bar- a far closer restaurant in the Mark Warner complex.
I know that I read in the early days that they said they had taken the kids to eat at a beach side place early on that evening - it was there, I think, that the important statement came from the waiter. Does anyone else remember this?
May 1st, 2008 at 1:42 pm
so are the due to do any more interviews today?
May 1st, 2008 at 1:40 pm
I recorded the ITV programme last night, I haven’t seen it all but
my immediate observations are….
1) To carry 3 children between 2 people was too much…..Reduce
the number then ?
2) Maddie went missing in Portugal!….so they went to Belgium ?
3) The Amber alert has been a serious project for many dedicated
people since 1996. since the reported self confessed child neglectors
became involved the support has dwindled drastically ?
Somebody is lying badly here….
Murats mother’s version or T9 ?….the dogs version or T9 ?

go to connections\lan settings
tick use a proxy for my lan box
use this in the box
address 129.12.3.74

I think this was nearly a confession of how it happened
—————————————————————————-
“And that’s when the nightmare started.
“I just remember saying: ’Not Madeleine, not Madeleine, not Madeleine’ and I can just remember saying that over and over and over again.
“Gerry was the same… I’m not used to seeing Gerry obviously that upset.”
Mr McCann interjects: “I think fear is probably the right word, fear for your daughter, fear for yourself, fear for your family, fear for everything and that horrible kind of adrenalin - fight, flight.”
On the reaction of their doctor friends, he says: “Some things kicked in and there was a lot of activity within the group quickly … I don’t know if it’s (being) used to dealing with very stressful situations at work or otherwise.”
May 1st, 2008 at 1:33 pm
every one that has mentioned bollocks..

i totally agree.
The whole TV thing, sky, GMTV, BBC was well planned orchestrated .
Questions were well PR planned.
They are on a money-making scam.
In the name of their daughter.
Last night’s doc was a K and G piece of well organised propoganda, grab more money, try and win over the poor public/children/ oap’s/ various others.
Can’t get over his ear hair!!!! Does every geezer have this! And his chest hair. I’ll heat up my waxing kit
(Their body language tells an awful lot IMO etc etc).
