Madeleine McCann: Josef Fritzl, Tabloid Bingo And Watching Kate McCann
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR (front page): “We’ll find Madeleine ourselves”
It is the McCanns’ “EXTRAORDINARY VOW”.
Any news of Metodo 3, the sleuths who would find Madeleine by last Christmas?
TWINS IN VOW TO FIND SIS - MISSING MADELEINE McCANN: ONE YEAR ON
The McCanns’ three-year-old twins Sean and Amelie have promised their grieving parents they will rescue their missing big sister.
Well, why not let them have a go?
Says Gerry McCann: “Madeleine is everywhere in our lives.” All our lives.
IRISH INDEPENDENT: “’One year on, we’re no closer to finding Maddy’”
Says Kate McCann: “There has been that much speculation in a lot of the media, particularly the written press. It’s taking away people searching for Madeleine.”
Says Kate McCann, and not Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ media handler.
POLO SHIRTS (a company selling T-shirts): “T-Shirts can be very valuable tools in helping to find missing children. Think about how many people see you each and every day. If you are wearing a T-shirt with the picture of a missing child on it then all of those people are also seeing the child and, hopefully, watching for her everywhere that they go. In the case of Madeleine McCann, the sale of T-Shirts is also helping to raise money for Madeleine’s fund: Leaving No Stone Unturned.”
Let’s hear it for the T-shirts!
GLASGOW DAILY RECORD: “Tragedy Breeds Tourism”
It is a year since Madeleine McCann vanished.
Madeleine McCann and Josef Fritzl? We’ve already had the McCanns and Elisabeth Fritzl. There’s a link? Joan Burnie sees one..
The apartment from which the then three-year-old disappeared has now become a sick tourist attraction, where people take their own kiddies to be photographed where once Madeleine slept.
Next year, can we expect the Austrian Tourist Board to promote tours of the dungeon in which Josef Fritzl incarcerated and abused his daughter?
THE SUN: “Dungeon rescue gives me hope”
Madeleine McCann and Elisabeth Fritzl? A link?
MISSING Madeleine McCann’s mum told yesterday how the astonishing rescue of Austrian dungeon girl Elisabeth Fritzl has given her fresh hope that her daughter is still alive.
Kate, 40, said that hearing how Elisabeth was saved after 24 years imprisonment renewed her belief that little Maddie may also be held captive somewhere.
It’s Tabloid Bingo! Bingo! Bingo!
METRO: “Dungeon fear for Maddy”
THE GUARDIAN: “Fritzl case proves long-term missing can re-emerge, say McCanns”
The couple had taken hope from the case of Elisabeth Fritzl, the Austrian woman whose father locked her in a cellar beneath his house for 24 years, and fathered seven children with her, said Gerry McCann.
DAILY MAIL (front page): “Kate: one year on: A portrait of torment”
Kate McCann is a “GP”.
DAILY TELEGRAPH (front page): “MADELEINE JUST FEELS VERY CLOSE”
Kate McCann:
It’s a sense, really. Madeleine just feels very close. It’s more of a kind of sensation that she’s there. You try to be objective and think, ‘Is that just because I’m her mum and I want to believe it?’ But it hasn’t changed.

“Madeleine McCann’s parents have launched a direct appeal to anyone who has spoken to Portuguese police about her disappearance to contact them.”
The PJ might not react because this is a gross provocation but they know what the mccanns are “cooking”.Dont the mccanns realise they are simply calling for a breach of the law in a criminal investigation and can be sued for this as well as ….neglect?
Unbelievable

I don’t think any REAL official witnesses will pay £1.00 a minute to gamble on 5 years inside, with no advantage to themselves ?
May 2nd, 2008 at 8:54 pm
They must have had serious legal advice before saying ANYTHING new, so if they have launched a new phone-line and made appeals for official witnesses to phone them directly then they must surely have been advised on what, if any, legal repercussions could possibly ensue as a result of their actions.?

Arguidos are Official Suspects.
Official witnesses are witnesses who have given a statement to
the Police.
Other possible witnesses….were the type who the Mccann’s
previously advertised for….but no mention re having made
a Police Statement. IMO
At least…they did not ask for witnesses who had previously
given a Police Statement…..then. IMO

Arguidos are official suspects with some right but both ,arguidos and witnesses are bond to secrecy and faced 2 years jail for breaching the secrecy of justice

Hi! I’ve continued to follow this story obsessively, but have posted mainly on the 3 Arguidos for the past few months.
Thx for the post. I am hoping the McCanns are charged soon, so I can get my life back. (Although, of course, I’ll be obsessed with the trial, too!)

“I have no doubt that Mark Warner staff are perfectly professional, but as parents we do what we think is right for our children. And if the McCanns thought it was better to leave theirs sleeping in an apartment in a holiday resort chosen for its child-friendliness rather than placing a stranger in the same room as their precious toddlers, who’s to say they’re wrong?”
I just cant take it in ,
The more I read the more I spin ….

Official Witnesses are bound by the Secrecy Limitaion.
For an Arguido to even attempt to get them to confide is highly
suspicious….at the very least.

765-Spot on. Had a glance at todays posts-and this is what i feel it is all about-that they are casting the blame elsewhere and not looking inwardly and saying -We were wrong-think I’d have slung ‘em a fiver if they had done this from the start
….and as someone suggested earlier…if they’d left a babysitter in charge and she’d done the same they would now be in Brussels campaigning about the standards of nannies-wonder if their own nanny did the same in Rothley-we never hear from her-that apart- the message they should be shouting from the hilltops is nobody do what we did-i’d have slung ‘em a tenner. I think they are shifting attention from the real issue here, and I think they know it…..But maybe this is all that they feel they have in their power to do now without admitting negligence-But murder or manslaughter -No IMO.

Hi Garth,
The biggest problem is that because they left the kids alone, it makes them responsible for whatever happened to Maddie, even if they didn’t harm her themselves.
————————————————————————
Of course I know what you mean, and, as they have said, they have to live with this agonising knowledge always, but it’s not quite the whole truth, is it?
IF they are innocent of anything other than leaving the children asleep in the apartment, can we just say that the person who took Madeleine bears no responsibility? That would seem to be saying that the abductor, IF there was one, wasn’t too bad a chap, really. After all, he was only taking advantage of careless parents. Who could blame him?!
Does taking someone’s else’s child, for some sort of criminal purpose, cease to be a crime just because the parents leave her alone for a short time?
IF there is an abductor and he ever reads Anorak, he must be absolutely delighted to find so many people blaming the Mcs for HIS crime. Maybe he could use it as a defence in court?
“I only took her/raped/murdered/sold her because her parents left her asleep. Can’t you let me off, please? She’s dead/gone anyway so punishing me won’t bring her back. (Or even : ‘I’ll get her back for you if you really want.’) I mean, really, it was their fault wasn’t it! Look at it from my point of view!”
“Of course sir! Quite right! It was the parents’ fault! Case dismissed.”
I think we have to be absolutely clear here.
If the Mcs killed Madeleine, deliberately or accidentally, disposed of her body, covered up their crime, created a false abduction story, fooled their friends and family, instigated a worldwide financial scam, are still obtaining money by fraudulent means, not to mention wasting HUGE amounts of police time and resources….then almost no punishment would be too severe for them. As a minor aside, they would also have destroyed the very notion of trust because most people DO believe them, outside the few who post on the few sites like Anorak. If that’s the case, the PJ will hopefully charge them soon, and a conviction will hopefully be secured.
If, however, they are guilty of leaving the children asleep alone in the apartment, but had no other involvement in her disappearance or death, and in fact are still devastated and doing every single thing possible to get her back or find out what happened, then there is someone ELSE out there who has committed a heinous crime. Possibly a murderer, or worse. He (or she) should not be given any excuse to blame anyone else for the crime; the price would have to be paid, as Huntley and others are paying theirs.
Do we really know yet?
I realise that there is a range of possible variations between these two positions but, basically, either they DID or DID NOT have a direct hand in her disappearance and if they did not, somebody else did. Could it be that hatred of the Mcs is so great that a child-kidnapper or killer is beginning to be seen as pretty innocent in comparison with them?
This business of “It’s their fault anyway, whatever happened.” has worrying implications. IMO
(But I do accept what you are saying, but only up to a certain point.)

the reasons for it’s existance….Nationally….without seemingly giving
any thought whatsoever as to the Status of the Persons advertising
the Number…..and that it is a Serious Criminal Offence Investigation
