Madeleine McCann: Josef Fritzl, Tabloid Bingo And Watching Kate McCann
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR (front page): “We’ll find Madeleine ourselves”
It is the McCanns’ “EXTRAORDINARY VOW”.
Any news of Metodo 3, the sleuths who would find Madeleine by last Christmas?
TWINS IN VOW TO FIND SIS - MISSING MADELEINE McCANN: ONE YEAR ON
The McCanns’ three-year-old twins Sean and Amelie have promised their grieving parents they will rescue their missing big sister.
Well, why not let them have a go?
Says Gerry McCann: “Madeleine is everywhere in our lives.” All our lives.
IRISH INDEPENDENT: “’One year on, we’re no closer to finding Maddy’”
Says Kate McCann: “There has been that much speculation in a lot of the media, particularly the written press. It’s taking away people searching for Madeleine.”
Says Kate McCann, and not Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ media handler.
POLO SHIRTS (a company selling T-shirts): “T-Shirts can be very valuable tools in helping to find missing children. Think about how many people see you each and every day. If you are wearing a T-shirt with the picture of a missing child on it then all of those people are also seeing the child and, hopefully, watching for her everywhere that they go. In the case of Madeleine McCann, the sale of T-Shirts is also helping to raise money for Madeleine’s fund: Leaving No Stone Unturned.”
Let’s hear it for the T-shirts!
GLASGOW DAILY RECORD: “Tragedy Breeds Tourism”
It is a year since Madeleine McCann vanished.
Madeleine McCann and Josef Fritzl? We’ve already had the McCanns and Elisabeth Fritzl. There’s a link? Joan Burnie sees one..
The apartment from which the then three-year-old disappeared has now become a sick tourist attraction, where people take their own kiddies to be photographed where once Madeleine slept.
Next year, can we expect the Austrian Tourist Board to promote tours of the dungeon in which Josef Fritzl incarcerated and abused his daughter?
THE SUN: “Dungeon rescue gives me hope”
Madeleine McCann and Elisabeth Fritzl? A link?
MISSING Madeleine McCann’s mum told yesterday how the astonishing rescue of Austrian dungeon girl Elisabeth Fritzl has given her fresh hope that her daughter is still alive.
Kate, 40, said that hearing how Elisabeth was saved after 24 years imprisonment renewed her belief that little Maddie may also be held captive somewhere.
It’s Tabloid Bingo! Bingo! Bingo!
METRO: “Dungeon fear for Maddy”
THE GUARDIAN: “Fritzl case proves long-term missing can re-emerge, say McCanns”
The couple had taken hope from the case of Elisabeth Fritzl, the Austrian woman whose father locked her in a cellar beneath his house for 24 years, and fathered seven children with her, said Gerry McCann.
DAILY MAIL (front page): “Kate: one year on: A portrait of torment”
Kate McCann is a “GP”.
DAILY TELEGRAPH (front page): “MADELEINE JUST FEELS VERY CLOSE”
Kate McCann:
It’s a sense, really. Madeleine just feels very close. It’s more of a kind of sensation that she’s there. You try to be objective and think, ‘Is that just because I’m her mum and I want to believe it?’ But it hasn’t changed.

What about the Masie/Maria point, please? I’d like to know what you are saying.
I’m not sure what I’d do in their position but I assume they have access to top legal advice. No idea who is bound to secrecy. I don’t know if they are talking about what you call Official Witnesses (eg. their friends, who will certainly have talked to them about it…of course!) or just people who thought they might have spotted something which just might have some relevance. These are not official witnesses in the case, unlike, for example, Tanner and the rest.
Mistake in my last post. I changed mid-sentence. I meant, of course, to say that Mcs ARE too wise to do anything which could get them into further legal difficulties.
Anyway, I haven’t said it’s right. I think it will probably become clear if it’s legally OK or if they’ve made a terrible mistake.

I misread the name….as I’d never seen a Masie nick on here before.
But my comment stands….you are indeed a prolific poster of posts.
Which is, for the purposes of the Forum. …quite commendable.

So…if it was you who had “lost” your child….you would consider it
right to question Official Witnesses who were bound to Secrecy by
the Portuguese Laws.

“…a deal is on the way?”
I hope the PJ will not offer the McCanns a deal without insisting that the McCanns first admit there was no abduction. I cannot imagine the PJ at this point being willing to perpetuate this charade in any way. Likewise, the McCanns will never admit there was NOT an abduction. My prediction is that the PJ will charge manslaughter, etc.; the McCanns’s lawyers will fight their extradition; the McCanns will be tried in abstentia. At this point, I don’t even care if the McCanns manage to avoid jail time, so long as the PJ OFFICIALLY call them liars for claiming Madeleine was abducted.

This is called a confession.Remember?no new,is it? no smoke witout fire, they say
The PJ had more than enough because it is costing portugal an awful lot of money which could be used towards infrastructure, schooling etc…
The PJ will make the truth and justice to Madeleine,on way or the other,They wont give up.They are waiting for a break through. You will see

Like Gloria, I think they must have taken top legal advice before doing anything but I can’t see how anonymity can be guaranteed to everyone. After all, the abductor could phone! Or the abductor’s mother!
Possibly, although it wasn’t made clear, they were simply referring to people who spoke to the police (here or in Portugal, or maybe even in other countries) when they came back from holiday in Portugal. Some of those leads don’t seem to have been followed up. We’ve read of a number of people who said they gave info to police but never heard anything else.
If this is illegal, I think they’d have been told. They are supposed to have top legal advice! On the other hand, they appear to be absolutely desperate to find Madeleine, or at least to know what happened to her, so maybe there are chances being taken. If it was my child missing, I’d do absolutely anything, anything, pay anyone, follow up any leads, take any chances, if there was the tiniest, slightest possibility of it bringing me to the truth. But somehow, I don’t think the Mcs are too wise to do anything which could get them into further legal difficulties just now.
I suppose it will become clear in the next few days. Does anyone know who is actually staffing the lines? Who are these people? Not likely to be just any old bod, is it? I mean, they gave a number for M3 and that didn’t seem to be illegal. Are we certain this number isn’t M3?
Sorry if this has been covered in other posts. Haven’t had time to read all posts. I’m working on computer and just keep popping back in!

My main concern is the complicity by the UK Media to advertise
that Number……seemingly without question or caution.

To whom could we write to point out our concern?
Or may be shall call the number and ask the question directly?
How comes the media advertise this number without caution and no information whatsoever about the legality of the advert?

‘I should add…That Arguidos are witnesses who have asked for

answering serious questions.’
yes, i understood that bit, avoid is perhaps a bit strong, more they have then the right to not answer questions.
on another track, one thing that has annoyed me quite a bit is how the wording on arrests in the uk has changed, from having the right to remain silent , to if you do chose to remain silent that it can be used against you.

“The PJ might not react because this is a gross provocation but they know what the mccanns are “cooking”.”
Bingo! The PJ are probably close to filing the big charges against the McCanns — manslaughter, illegal disposal of a corpse, fraud — so (for now) they’ll ignore this witness tampering business. The McCanns probably have been advised by their lawyers that this phone number is dodgy (to say the least), but this is part of their Hail Mary pass. It seesm like the McCanns know they’re going to be charged and witness-tampering in the form of this advertsied phone number is not what they’re worrying about.
*************
I have been reading an awful lot over the last week and there was first the whole neglect widely publicised with tears and remorses, granma super angry etc…then,18 interviews in the uk only, then last last on spanish TV3(I fell asleep :oop: ) then tomorrow again in the famous program lead by a menopaused unpleasant woman and the journalist,Nacho Abad “who knows all about the Ms-crying-leak”. 20 interviews in a week time.Fragile and exhausted.
Now,a thick cloud of silence in portugal while they spin to their leisure, they spin with their last breath and there are hints of serious charges coming on….unless,a deal is on the way? a possibility as well…..

oh, well as i said i’m not sure anymore what they actually said, but why set up a new line and garantee anonymity then ? would that not be if something came up and they did not pass it on to the police, subverting a police nvestigation ?
