McGuckin In McCann Peril: Foreign Crimes In Foreign Climes
BRITONS planning trips to the new Portugal should go equipped with a loud hailer, a private detective and nothing too shiny. If on a driving holiday, ensure the boot can be opened from within.
Listen to the tale told by Eamon and Antionette McGuckin, who found their three children in the care of the Portuguese – and what irony there, readers – after they were attacked by a “Rohypnol gang”.
One would imagine that given the paralysing powers of the so-called date rape drug, the Rohypnol Gang are not much cop at ganging, preferring to lie down and wait their victim to trip over them. It would help if the victims were drunk.
But this gang is armed with the drug and slipping it into the “small jug” of sangria the McGuckins were quaffing, sipping, even. (Although the Mirror’s Sue Carroll sees the “dog tired, hot and thirsty” couple taking beer – mucky foreign beer.)
Says a friend of the family, namely a Dr Cyril Harkin: “Neither of them are big drinkers. They have tried to understand what happened and have linked the sangria with the sudden decline in their health. They believe they were drugged by someone trying to rob them.”
The GP puts the tin lid on the matter by saying: “The Portuguese authorities are paranoid after the Madeleine McCann case.”
We are not anti-foreigner, and are quite confident that if the entire peoples of continental Europe were placed in a cell we could find a dozen for a game of cricket and a scorer, but can only conclude that the vast mojortity Portuguese are the scum of the Earth and in need of hanging…

What abductor?
I can’t believe the doors were unlocked either. I look after my bits and pieces of belongings when I’m on holiday. Clothes, bits of accessories, camera, money, etc etc. Not to mention my three children… Actually I’m fed up with this conversation - it’s got no legs.

For you Chenny honey, anything. Seb has been telling me that some are viewing this case, as more quantum than relative, there in may well lie the elusive click.

Eek!
If you are going to get physical I must go.
Besides, once my brain has eroded to the point that I can make puns like that, I clearly need sleep…
Goodnight, all…

You mean you didn’t see Panorama? You missed a classic. In the absence of it, it was all very factual and K&G doing their normal day to day life. Oh bugger, I’ll try and find a link for you.
Back shortly hopefully…..

392 Gandolf Quotes:
” The arrival at the Family Court of Family and Children of Faro yesterday was awaited by dozens of British and Portuguese journalists. ”
OK, I withdraw my previous comments. I now understand that their holiday had been irreversibly spoiled, and it made no sense to stay any longer, especially one wouldn’t want to provide the media with a court spectacle. Not everybody is keen to become a footnote in the McCann saga with his/her family.

I can’t believe that the doors were unlocked. They aren’t that irresponsible.
As you say, in that case, why would they say they were unlocked? What purpose could it serve?

I suspect he thought he was coming across as House…
as house ?, what does that mean please ?
————————————–
My apologies.
House is a TV show starring Hugh Laurie as an extremely gifted, bordering on genius, doctor who’s also a jerk.
I doubt that Gerry grasps that House is a jerk; he probably just sees the incredibly gifted bordering on genius bit.
Each episode is a mystery; what is killing this particular patient?
So House puts his junior doctors through large numbers of hoops, and there is much writing on boards and flowcharts.
Sometimes they even get to find out what’s killing the patient before it does…

I presume you mean Jon Corner? I’ve always wondered where his loyalties lie. IMO he’s dobbed them in with the ‘whoosh clunk’. That’s where it came from on Panorama. He left the footage in, which I thought that wAS REALLY strange. For all the world to see - K was either pissed or was on something.

chenier was talking about the filming, i don’t know who the camera person was. jon corner is the person who shot the panorama footage i believe ? i never saw that program, have only seen some pix from it, or more have seen a picture with gerry over a laptop, i think in the appartment of pdl. you think kate was pissed ? i thought the picture of him with that primative flowchart very funny, though one shouldn’t really as it’s about a missing child, his missing child.

‘It has looked that way almost from the very beginning.
Anyone foolish enough to invite a friend to shoot ‘intimate footage’ of Gerry working his fingers to the bone on his keyboard is also foolish enough to believe that they could make a career out of the tragedy…’
