THIS FAMILY HAS MANAGED TO COME TOGETHER AS A FAMILY TO HELP RAISE ONE ANOTHER AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER. THAT IS SO MUCH MORE THAN WHAT OTHER FAMILIES HAVE ACCOMPLISHED. I HAVE WATCHED THEIR SHOW, AND ALTHOUGH I WOULD NEVER HAVE 18 CHILDREN, I DON’T THINK IT IS MY BUSINESS OR ANYONE ELSES BUSINESS HOW MANY CHILDREN THEY HAVE. IF THEY CAN FEED AND TAKE CARE OF 18 CHILDREN, THEN MORE POWER TO THEM. MOST OF THE PEOPLE LEAVING NEGATIVE COMMENTS ARE BITTER FOR THE FACT THAT THE DUGGAR FAMILY IS BETTER OFF WITH ALL OF THE WORK, RESPONSIBILITY, AND CHILDREN THAN THEY ARE. DON’T HATE THE PLAYERS….HATE THE GAME!!!! AS FOR THEIR FAITH…..AT LEAST THEY HAVE SOME. I SAY GOD BLESS THEM, AND I’LL LOG ONTO THEIR WEB SITE EVERY 3 SECONDS JUST SO “YOUR TAX DOLLARS” WILL GO TO THEM.

To each thier own. There was a time where it was normal for a family to have a dozen or more children. In today’s society it is no longer considered normal because their is no longer a need to farm the land by hand. The depression chnaged the way people chose to plan thier families. People could not afford the mulittude of children. Believe you me, if I were able to financially support more children, my husband and I would most likely have had a couple more — but it was not an option for us. I know the physical toll my body went through having two babies, I can only imagine what her body hasw gone through. My eleven year old even reconizes that Michelle’s life span is possibly shortened due to her mutiple pregnancies. Again back to what was normal before the depression, it was also normal for woman to die during child birth, as well as young after having so many children. Michelle is fortunate to have modern medical science to help keep her and her unborn children healthy. They seem to have a good head on their shoulders.
A little fyi though: A woman can begin to ovulate as early as thirteen and stop at or around age 52. I belive she was apx. 22 when she had had her first child…maybe wrong…anyway , lets just say she is only capable of having between 7-10 more children. Only the goo Lord knows.

I have no idea why some folks get their shorts in a bunch over a great couple who just happens to have a large family. It works for them, who are we to judge? What about the people who go out of their way to have as many children as possible without a partner in many cases, just to get more Federal and State Assistance? Do you realize just how responsible these people are? They are debt free and pay cash for EVERYTHING!!! How many of us can say that even with far less children. Just leave these God fearing people alone and let them enjoy their way of life.

To each their own. I watched the special that one of the channels made about their family. They all seem very loving and things work like a ‘well-oiled machine’. Their kids were very respectful and well behaved - which is more than I can say for most kids.
However, it would be impossible (to say the least) that mom and dad could meet the constant demands for that many children! I actually feel sorry for the older kids because they didn’t seem to have a life - other than caring for their younger brothers and sisters ALL the time. I’m sure the older kids are thinking - “Oh great, another baby to care for.” Hence the 20 year old and two 18 year olds are still living at home with their parents. Mom, Dad, and the rest ofthe family couldn’t function without them!

It’s refreshing to see a loving, responsible, wholesome family today. These folks have forfieted the “keeping up with the Jones’s” lifestyle in favor of sacrificing, saving, and
prioritizing. Most of us aren’t willing to make the sacrifices needed to have a family this big. Remember the Leave it to Beaver days? That’s when parents taught morals, kids had responsibilities at home, saved their allowances for something special, and talked to adults with respect. Let’s think about this for a minute. Isn’t that what we refer to as the “Good old days”? The Duggars have a beautiful, loving, respectful family and it didn’t just happen: they work at it. It takes ingenuity, patience, and sacrifice. As far as I’m concerned: Go Duggars! God Bless!

I did not have sexual relations with that woman.

I find it hard to imagine the incredible work load Michelle must face each day. Even though she says she is happy, probably from all the feel good hormones from pregnancy and the births, it has to be hard on her body. I hope she lives long enough to see all her children grown.

God put us here to procreate, and they sure are!!!!
May 12th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
So if Jim Bob is also their uncle, does that mean Michelle is also their aunt?
May 12th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
First off, the Duggar’s most certainly do not go out in public and degrade other people for their differences in religion. Just because they are religious, and do have strong beliefs doesn’t mean that we should judge them for being old fashioned. Afterall, maybe they are on to something. They built their home as a family project, and they bought all of the material with cash to do so. Meaning that because they were patient, now they have a wonderful 7,000 sq ft home to live in. I myself have children and know that it is the norm to have mortgage payments, automobile payments, and credit card debt. So, tell me this… if what they are doing is so wrong than why is it that they do not have any debt what so ever? I say leave them a lone. If they can afford having all those children while also having morals and strong family values, then let them. They do not judge us, so why should we? They weren’t the ones who sought out to become famous from a reality series. It was the reality network who subjected their lives to become critized.

why should the people in their state use their tax dollars to pay for their irresponsibility he not in office no more listen up Arkansas youre paying the state your cash to pay for this can this be a tax write-off every year?? how do you think the state pays for welfare ?( taxpayers) now youre being scr$w$d again, you get to pay for them too that makes you part owner of everything they have including their 18 deductables
May 12th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
seems to me people posting happy comments about this family is o.k but then you people critisize others who arent so agreeable with the duggars look this post is for all opinions i feel this mother and father altho are responsible to work and raise their family are just as much irresponsible to bring more kids into this world with the way this world is turning out remember no one is perfect this is like their own little cult what about 12/22/2012 just more people to perish when the planets line up and the earth rocks with storms, earthquakes , fires, floods give it a rest duggars when i watch the show only a couple times i think you have these kids to care for the younger ones and work like horses to help run the family isnt that what the parents are suppose to do??? well maybe all women should have tons of kids that way every time someone logs onto their web site they will get paid to take care of theirs like the duggars do see for every hit they get its our tax dollars going to them and their brood i feel for the little ones.
May 12th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
ALL I CAN sAY IS, Well, he ‘duggar’ again. Their claim to fame is this????? They are a lovely family, but she will probably die young, and her body will fall apart at 45-50 or so, then what will Mr. “Duggar” do?? Find some sappy woman to take care of his regiment?? I feel so sorry for her, even if she is happy
May 12th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Actually, they do get government assistance. Jim was a state legislator. Because of that, the state pays for his family’s health insurance, just as if he were a state legislator, for life.
May 12th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
God Bless them!! I actually watch the show and pick up great organizational ideas, as well as parenting tips!! I only have 2 and 1 on the way, but I already feel the awesome power of our Lord, that love does multiply. They are so true to their family, and those are some awesome kids!! Go Duggars!!
May 12th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
The word a lot is TWO words.
To remember, you would not write: alittle as one word, well, the same goes for a lot.
May 12th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
I Love this family!!! Too bad more of todays kids are not raised this way(my kids included) These children are so polite and down to earth. I admire the whole bunch!!
May 12th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Yes, children are supposed to be a blessing from God but really…you can’t tell me that God is telling these people to keep having children….They certainly are not helping save our natural resources by the amount of water they must use for all their laundry every day. They really need to think about their (and mine & yours) children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren). I would like to think there will be enough resources saved to go around for everyone. Everything in moderation! That means how many children you have, also. I love kids as much as the next but this is absolutely ridiculous. They need to stop after this next child!

Responses to :
13 Sho - All mothers work, some more than others who don’t have someone else raising their kids.
14 Ken - Obviously by reading your gramatically incorrect and mis spelled comment the educators resonsible for yours must be embarassed.
17 Mrs K - Your right we a re not animals. Animals care for their young and don’t abort or give them to someone else to raise while they do what they want. I didn’t know that moms stop being able to care at a certain age. I’m glad my mom still cares for me she’s 76.
Fortunately those negative or judgmental are few while the rest of us can laugh and be happy for someone that is enjoying their family and life.

Wow! I am amazed that Michelle and husband Jim, have so many children.
Much respect! No one should judge this family for having such a large family. Having a large family is cool. The more the better, because in the long run they will have each other. If they can afford it, hey who are we to say anything. This family doesn’t even recieve government assistance. Why knock them. Oh! Another thing a womens body can handle having alot of babies, it’s us who choose how many you want to have.
May 12th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
I always knew that I wanted no more than 2 children and I was lucky to have a boy and a girl, this was the choice I was able to make as was the choice the Duggers have made to be blessed with the children that the they have now and the future children that they might have.
Just because the size of there family is not the normal 2.5 plus a dog does not mean that they are wrong. Their children are healthy, happy, well adjusted and very polite and they all have the love of their parents and siblings.
So before anyone feels the need to judge, stop and take a good look at your own family and make sure YOU are doing all you can for your children. If we all did that maybe there would be less crime, drugs, pregnant teens, gang violence, physical abuse, the list can go on and on…………..
May 12th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
It looks like they are doing a great job raising their children. The children seem polite, caring, and well adjusted. They don’t get any government help. Of course, the money made from TLC probably doesn’t hurt.
May 12th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
All I can say is what an inspiration………………we should all be so fortunate and blessed to have such a warm, caring family with children who have manners beyond belief.
I love watching them on TV, hope they keep it up and best of luck to the newcomer at New Years!!
May 12th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Maria, do you understand how large healthy families function? To make such judgments about a family you need to understand how that family works. I want to encourage you examine your opinion.
May 12th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
WOW, i can only hope that these parents have enough love and time to spend with there babies, it looks like they are doing great but i hope physcologoically they are growing up okay, it apprears to be babies raising babies, i am sure they are a very close knit family without debt(?) i ask my self being a single mother of four how that can be bt that isnt the issue,
if you can love them and feed them and provide for them physically, emotionally and financially then i praise you and wish you all the love and luck in the world

No they are not on Government help, they are doing this all on their own. They invested and saved wisely. If they are taking care of the kids on their own, I think its a grea thing. I don’t see any of their kids doing drugs, involved in gangs, or anything else bad, they are really truly good kids and I wish the best for them.
May 12th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Obviously some have not seen how wonderful these children are and they speak out of ignorance of the love these parents have for ALL their children.
These people are able to love so many children and they are to be commended and supported not told they are selfish as it is not even CLOSE to the meaning of selfishness to take care of that many.
God bless you Duggars - look forward to seeing you on TLC again and love the re-runs.
Oh and that mother works -
May 12th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
I just wish people with 1 or 2 children took as good care of them as the Duggers’do. This family owes for nothing, teaches their children well (all the children are smart and accomplished in many areas), sets moral and civil examples for them to follow, and sees that they have many opportunities to interact with others. I have never met the Duggers but I have great respect for them. If I had a concern, it would be Michelle’s health. But then, God is obviously in control so why should I be concerned. I wish them well and wish they would come to Tennessee to visit me. I would love having them as my guest.
May 12th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
I think its really unfair and irresponsible to have all these children. All the older children have to take care of the younger children while mom goes and has more. The children have to schedule time to be with there parents. I hope that the state is not helping this family in any way. These people want all these kids and that is there problem. They are teaching these young girls that they should just have alot of kids. I am sorry we are not in the early 1900’s where women have the babies and the men go to work. These girls should feel like they can and be anything they want and have a life of there own.
May 12th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Ken, you’ve got alot more to learn about life.
