Madeleine McCann: McCanns Cleared, Shannon Matthews Fund And The Maddy Card
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann and Shannon Matthews
DAILY MIRROR: “McCANNS ‘IN CLEAR’”
Kate and Gerry McCann will be formally cleared as suspects in daughter Madeleine’s disappearance by August, their lawyer said yesterday.
Fact. Now the Portuguese police can find Madeleine? And the McCanns can return to Portugal.
Rogerio Alves said detectives in Portugal had finally admitted they have no evidence against the couple and were preparing to lift their arguido status. But he also warned the move could signal the end of the year-long hunt for the four-year-old.
But the Portuguese police are useless, right? And the McCanns have Metodo 3?
But McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “We don’t want the case to remain unsolved.”
DAILY MAIL: “McCanns’ status as suspects in Madeleine’s disappearance ‘will be lifted by August’”
This August. Fact.
Says Rogerio Alves: “I believe that by August the police will close the case and lift arguido status. I believe it is a very strong possibility.”
Believe. Possibility. Fact.
ROUNDTOWNNEWS (Spain): “Mass of Balloons for Madeleine”
Skies over the Costa Blanca were clouded by a mass of colour, to mark the first anniversary of the disappearance of British infant, Madeleine McCann…
Yellow…
Meanwhile, Rob and Lisa, owners of ‘The Card Place’ in Benimar, decided to make their own touching dedication to Madeleine, by launching an abundance of bright balloons into the sunny Costa Blanca sky… Last weekend, crowds gathered to witness the event, as 160 balloons sailed from outside of the store, reminding residents throughout the area that the search for a little girl must continue. Lisa concluded with an emotional message which reflected the thoughts of all of those with any knowledge of the case. She said, “Although the investigation has gone on for sometime, Madeline has yet to be found. Members of the public should be encouraged to continue to look for Madeleine, and remain conscientious in the protection of their own children.”
And get all their cards at The Card Palce, ask for it by name. Is there a missing child card?
DEWSBURY REPORTER: “Trustees meet over Shannon cash fund options”
RESIDENTS of the housing estate where Shannon Matthews disappeared are to choose how cash raised for her appeal will be spent.
A plasma telly?
This week the six trustees for the Help Find Shannon Fund and local community support group Pathfinder, which managed the collection of the money, met to decide what to do with the remaining cash.
Family, friends, neighbours, local businesses and community groups donated money into the Help Find Shannon Fund – much like the one for missing youngster Madeleine McCann – during the 24 days the nine-year-old was missing.
So give the money to the Find Madeleine fund, easy?

What on earth has happened to Sky?
‘The News Of The World claims to have the first pictures from inside the apartment where Madeleine McCann was allegedly abducted.’
Allegedly?
Oh, and the News of the Screws claims to have shocking new evidence, there were secret hiding places and the Tapa’s pal made a tragic mistake.
I assume it’s a re-run on Tanner’s trauma…

Christopher Robin: Pooh, what’s your favorite thing in the whole world?
Winnie the Pooh: My favorite thing is me coming to visit you, and then you ask, “How about a small smackeral of honey?”
Christopher Robin: I like that, too. But what I like most of all is just doing nothing.
Winnie the Pooh: How do you do just nothing?
Christopher Robin: Well, when grown-ups ask, “What are you going to do?” and you say, “Nothing,” and then you go and do it.
Winnie the Pooh: I like that. Let’s do it all the time.
Christopher Robin: You know something, Pooh? I’m not going to do just nothing anymore.
Winnie the Pooh: You mean, never again?
Christopher Robin: Well, not so much.

‘my experience of this house is that its louder from above than next door. walls are often or usually built with bricks, and ceilings with rafters.’
————————
So R.Oldfield’s statement that she heard no crying throught the wall may have been meaningless in assuring K and G that Madeleine was not crying while they were out, and equally meaningless in confirming that nothing worse might have been happening to her May 2nd evening, and not suggestive of supporting a cover up.
It would be interesting to have the opinion of someone who had stayed in these type of apartments (on noise).

\This statement is interesting because if the evening of the 2nd May is the crimetime period that the PJ are focusing on then you might expect Roldfield who claims to have been present next door to have heard something, if this statement is true. Although maybe not if there was no crying or soundproof walls . Of course it is irrelevant if the crimetime period is the evening of May 3.
Must say good night now

Nor does anyone else. But their continued lies and your continued repeating of those lies, and the lack of co0operation of your own clients makes this more likely.
“Meanwhile, Kate and Gerry have revealed they will not be celebrating Madeleine’s fifth birthday on Monday. Mr Mitchell added: “Gerry will be at work and Kate will be at or around home. Sadly, for them it is just another day without Madeleine.”
But why would they CELEBRATE the birthday of a child who any sensible person would recognise was already dead. Many of us believe that this is an unfortunate and tragic consequence of the McCs failure adequately to protect their children throughout their holiday.
And even if they cling, for finanancial and publicity or other reasons, to the belief that she is still alive and out there being abused on a daily basis, why would Clarrie use the word CELEBRATE ?

‘Coz-as far as I can tell…..you can literally go to town……and you don’t get punished-in fact you get celebrity status a la Jade Goody.’
but jade goody didnt ‘lose’ a child and raise funds to apparently find it did she now.
‘………..How many meters is acceptable/Good parenting-Oh yes must take a pedometer so as I know whether I can eat my dinner in a restaurant or in the middle of the swimming pool.’
that isn’t the problem though, its’ not about making unwise decisions and it all going horribly wrong, children get, unfortunately, stolen out of bedrooms and baths and tents on their own premises, where one thinks it’s safe and it should be safe, it’s not about that to my mind, it’s about some certain parents saying that’s what happened to cover up something worse. imo.

Rotten gits - at least they could have said Happy 5th birthday to their darling daughter Madeleine - as they know she is ‘out there somewhere - alive and hoping it’s somewhere nice’.
Wouldn’t Madeleine’s birthday be a monumental occasion? Five is one of those birthdays that you remember (even yourself). Sadly no - G going to work and K doin sod all apparently. And it’s just another day without Madeleine. Just another day?

On a serious-ish note though do you think the EEC will have to raise legislation so that we all know where we stand -or fall through the sofa on holiday-sorry McGuckins if you’re reading this -joke.

No, I see no reason for the EC to introduce legislation; it doesn’t have the power, for a start.
And it is difficult to envisage any reason why the appropriate child protection legislation in any EC country should be repealed for the benefit of visiting tourists. In this country, if both parents of young children were taken to hospital then the children would be taken to a place of safety. A hotel creche would not constitute a place of safety…
Equally, in this country if you leave young children alone then you may well find yourself in prison, as the gentleman from Colwyn Bay did. I would oppose any change to our legislation which would weaken that position; small children cannot fend for themselves. The law is there for the protection of the child, not to enable parents to calculate just how stupid they can be without facing legal sanctions…

209 But, if Madeleine was not seen by any of the other Tapas on 3rd-then they must all be lying hell, I’ve got mates but I don’t think-or at least I hope that they wouldn’t lie about seeing my child on 3rd if they hadn’t and she had subsequently gone missing. Also if she ate at the Kiddies club then there would be a record of that in till?

Evening folks
I can see it has been a quiet day - unsurprisingly since there has not been much news today. I spoke to an Irish friend who watched the Pat Kenny Late Late Show with Clearance. I was informed that he was given a hard time on the neglect issue and he indicated how sorry they were. The distance between Tapas and 5a was challenged i belive and the issue of how much alcohol was drunk . My friend thought he said 6 bottle wine bought but 2 untouched, allegedly not much for the size of the party. There was little focus I believe on the arguido status, other than to say that he expects them to be cleared. The most interesting thing I think was he mentioned that he would be there for them as long as they need him,
Wow almost a marriage type Vow
For better for worse …
I was thinking about May 2nd 2007. The Mcs say they went to the Millenium restaurant so after that they went out somewhere (Tapas?) leaving the toddlers alone. I don’t know if it has been discussed but when R oldfield was interviewed on radio 4 she mentioned that she had been at her holiday appartment (on other side of children’s bedroom) and heard no crying. If the PJ are focusing on May 2nd then this statement is very interesting.
