Madeleine McCann: Inside The Flat, New Clues And Bad Parents
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS OF THE WORLD (front page): “MADDIE”
More?
“WORLD EXCLUSIVE: FIRST PICTURES INSIDE FLAT”
“Maddie’s bedroom”; “front door” – the flat from Madeleine McCann supposedly went missing is for hire, and the NOTW has been to look it over.
Has the NOTW turned into a holiday brochure, got into the timeshare game?
Now the rest of the flat has been redecorated and is ready to welcome more holidaying families to Portugal.
Can the flat be rented by the minute, and because of its history does it come with a surcharge? For now, the paper wants to show readers “How fiend could have kept out of sight”.
Our detailed survey of the flat reveals a host of places Maddie’s abductor could have hidden when it’s most likely he was almost caught in the act by dad Gerry as he checked on her and twins, Sean and Amelie, at 9.05pm on May 3 last year…
Details. You have noted the door and the bedroom. Now look at the inside of a “WARDROBE”.
But our on-site reconstruction proves that if the kidnapper was already in the flat, as the McCanns fear, he had a full TEN SECONDS to conceal himself after hearing Gerry open the patio doors and enter the apartment.
Although if Gerry McCann moved slower than the NOTW’s estimated speed of 2.34 mph, the kidnapper might have had ELEVEN seconds, or perhaps even TWELVE seconds to hide.
But where to hide?
And he had no fewer than FOUR boltholes to choose from—behind Madeleine’s BEDROOM DOOR, inside her roomy WARDROBE, in her parents’ nearby BEDROOM or in the family BATHROOM.
What about under the BEDS, behind the CURTAINS, on the CEILING or in the SHOWER? Or in the BED?
If one year on, the News of the World found clues, surely the detectives could have established more AT THE TIME?
Clues. the NOTW has found doors and rooms. In one year of tabloid tales, much has been established.
The stillness and silence of the apartment now is just as it would have been after the McCanns left the children asleep in bed that fateful night.
All that can heard is the gentle click, click click of cameras, the sound of a reporter scrambling for a story and the trace of last night’s prawns in garlic butter…
IRISH INDEPENDENT: “Summer sun brings out first Bad Parent story”
“It’s hard to resist a little pain-free moral gloating sometimes, writes Eilis O’Hanlon.”
Like the first cuckoo of spring, the sighting of the first Bad Parent story of the summer is always a heartwarming, life-affirming event; and by a happy coincidence, the latest incarnation of this media phenomenon arrived bang on time, just as the weather started to hot up and our thoughts turned sunwards. At last we can say the holiday season has truly begun.
Normally, of course, it’s some foul-mouthed painted doxy from a sink estate in the north of England who hits the headlines after flying off to be with her Spanish waiter in the sun, leaving behind her gaggle of variously-fathered children in their council flat with only a tin of beans, the keys to the drinks cabinet, and Grand Theft Auto IV on the Playstation to occupy themselves until she gets home — if and when she can be bothered.
The Irish now see the English as the English once saw the Irish, albeit without the beer, bombs and potatoes.
The McCanns. The McGuckins.
The media phenomenon of the Bad Parent story, ritually trotted out to appease the secret guilt of other parents everywhere, is a curious one, no doubt about that. It can’t be much fun to be caught in the middle of the latest outbreak of media moralising, but it’s best just to put it down to experience and move on as quickly as you can.
THE SCOTSMAN: “McCanns ‘won’t mark’ Madeleine’s fifth birthday”
Family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said of the birthday: “Gerry will be at work and Kate will be at or around home. Sadly, for them it is just another day without Madeleine.”
Madeleine McCann: When will the anniversaries stop?

I understand today is Mother’s Day in both Australia and South Africa ?
For all Anorak mothers, a special message . . . .

I am a bit worried about Carmen; the last I recall is her announcement that she was going outside to do her tax return.
She hasn’t come back…
………………
Tied up with the accounts/tied up an accountant - either is a distinct possibility ..

Well, I certainly don’t possess the first…

You’ve obviously never tackled a French tax return, you would understand the delay if you had!!!!

My sweet chenny, fear not I am on safe ground, Murat’s alibi is shakier than Rolf Harris’s wobble board, mummy as you would expect backs him up, eight other people don’t, and yes he changed his original one that he gave the plod. Has that excellent publication the Lawyer, brought you up to speed with the libel case that is going to make Murat rich.
Try google chenny if your info is not very good, it may help you in your deliberations, I prefer my info a bit nearer to home.

Gandolf,
Our very own roving reporter, Carmen, has provided considerable insights following her visit to PDL.
Including the tosh talked about witnesses spotting Murat when he was elsewhere.
So I have a choice; I can listen to the evidence presented first hand by Carmen, or I can believe the stuff dredged up for the tabloids in the hope of getting the Paragons of Parenting off the hook.
Incidentally, no British newspaper has published anything at all which might even begin to be described as derogatory about the individuals you mention since Simons Muirhead & Burton made their statement.
I really don’t think that is coincidental.
And even the News of the Screws has a world exclusive which makes no derogatory remarks about the Portuguese police…

Could there be anything to the rumour that KM and MO were more than friends?
May 11th, 2008 at 12:25 pm
Val I could tell you a few things about Malinka and a few others, but chenny has got me running scared………forgive my typing stutter……….I might be a target for Murats non existent case. The PJ are no fools, while every one here thinks they are looking outwards the truth is something very different.
What I will tell you is that Malinka had a chest freezer on the balcony, that disappeared almost as soon as it was noticed.

People with questionable alibis, who actually lied at first…….Murat….his girlfriend/lover……..Malinka, two alibis we don’t know about, the pool attendant and the priest’
The priest says he never took the McCanns confession, yet he says he will take what was said to him to the grave, why is he not banged up for withholding evidence.

I’m assuming you imagine that the insertion of ……….. enables you to defame anyone you happen to fancy defaming, without redress. You imagine wrong.
If you have evidence that witnesses lied then you should not be presenting it here; you should be talking to the PJ.
If you don’t have evidence that witnesses lied then you are an idiot.
Admittedly, that doesn’t come as a huge surprise to anyone who’s read your posts…

90 Chernier Re: Apportioning Blame … Always somebody elses fault , never their own. As I said before when focussing on secondary issues, the main issue is conveniently put in the shade. Alas it is M who is really being forgotten about, all for the sake ofthe mephitic medics who put themselves first on a so called family holiday.

Well, now that I have established that Madeleine is alive and well and living in a treehouse with Tarzan and Jane, I can afford to relax a little about the swing, sorry, spin being put on these ‘facts’.
I doubt, however, that Oldfield can. Both the Sainted Mark and the News of the Screws are now, in 2 different ways, pinning the guilt on him.
In Mark’s case it’s leaving the door open so Madeleine could wander out.
In the News of the Screws it’s failing to check that Madeleine was there.
The News of the Screws goes so far as to say that:
‘Our photos heartbreakingly spell out that if Matthew had only walked a few feet further into the room he could have raised the alarm 35 minutes earlier, giving the police a real chance of catching the culprit.’
Pay attention at the back, now; what is missing from that sentence?
As a clue, I’ll give you sardine munching wine drinking incompetents…

Remember Gerry saying that when he got back to the apartment he tested the shutters and was surprised how quiet they were?
He conveniently messed up the crime scene and got his fresh fingerprints all over the shutters.

I have no idea if there is any point to a reconstruction but the point is the PJ have requested it. The arrangement made last Sept 2007 allegedly was that if the arguidos were allowed to leave Portugal then they must promise to come back when required.
May 11th, 2008 at 10:49 am
The NoTW article raises some interesting points - perhaps deliberately.
If this abductor spent so much time in wardrobes/behind doors etc, why no DNA or fingerprints whatsoever?
The bloody footprint, possibly linked to another on car weeks later. Why? WTF?
The “silent” apartment - “just as it was when parents went out” (or words to that effect). A subtle rebuke?
The noises made by the shutter, footsteps etc. A subtle questioning of
McCann story?
Etc, etc.
I do think it was written with some scepticism.
BTW: Why do I keep reading that Madeleine slept BETWEEN the twins’ cots? Yet here, as in some other reports, her bed is against the wall.
