Madeleine McCann: Inside The Flat, New Clues And Bad Parents
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS OF THE WORLD (front page): “MADDIE”
More?
“WORLD EXCLUSIVE: FIRST PICTURES INSIDE FLAT”
“Maddie’s bedroom”; “front door” – the flat from Madeleine McCann supposedly went missing is for hire, and the NOTW has been to look it over.
Has the NOTW turned into a holiday brochure, got into the timeshare game?
Now the rest of the flat has been redecorated and is ready to welcome more holidaying families to Portugal.
Can the flat be rented by the minute, and because of its history does it come with a surcharge? For now, the paper wants to show readers “How fiend could have kept out of sight”.
Our detailed survey of the flat reveals a host of places Maddie’s abductor could have hidden when it’s most likely he was almost caught in the act by dad Gerry as he checked on her and twins, Sean and Amelie, at 9.05pm on May 3 last year…
Details. You have noted the door and the bedroom. Now look at the inside of a “WARDROBE”.
But our on-site reconstruction proves that if the kidnapper was already in the flat, as the McCanns fear, he had a full TEN SECONDS to conceal himself after hearing Gerry open the patio doors and enter the apartment.
Although if Gerry McCann moved slower than the NOTW’s estimated speed of 2.34 mph, the kidnapper might have had ELEVEN seconds, or perhaps even TWELVE seconds to hide.
But where to hide?
And he had no fewer than FOUR boltholes to choose from—behind Madeleine’s BEDROOM DOOR, inside her roomy WARDROBE, in her parents’ nearby BEDROOM or in the family BATHROOM.
What about under the BEDS, behind the CURTAINS, on the CEILING or in the SHOWER? Or in the BED?
If one year on, the News of the World found clues, surely the detectives could have established more AT THE TIME?
Clues. the NOTW has found doors and rooms. In one year of tabloid tales, much has been established.
The stillness and silence of the apartment now is just as it would have been after the McCanns left the children asleep in bed that fateful night.
All that can heard is the gentle click, click click of cameras, the sound of a reporter scrambling for a story and the trace of last night’s prawns in garlic butter…
IRISH INDEPENDENT: “Summer sun brings out first Bad Parent story”
“It’s hard to resist a little pain-free moral gloating sometimes, writes Eilis O’Hanlon.”
Like the first cuckoo of spring, the sighting of the first Bad Parent story of the summer is always a heartwarming, life-affirming event; and by a happy coincidence, the latest incarnation of this media phenomenon arrived bang on time, just as the weather started to hot up and our thoughts turned sunwards. At last we can say the holiday season has truly begun.
Normally, of course, it’s some foul-mouthed painted doxy from a sink estate in the north of England who hits the headlines after flying off to be with her Spanish waiter in the sun, leaving behind her gaggle of variously-fathered children in their council flat with only a tin of beans, the keys to the drinks cabinet, and Grand Theft Auto IV on the Playstation to occupy themselves until she gets home — if and when she can be bothered.
The Irish now see the English as the English once saw the Irish, albeit without the beer, bombs and potatoes.
The McCanns. The McGuckins.
The media phenomenon of the Bad Parent story, ritually trotted out to appease the secret guilt of other parents everywhere, is a curious one, no doubt about that. It can’t be much fun to be caught in the middle of the latest outbreak of media moralising, but it’s best just to put it down to experience and move on as quickly as you can.
THE SCOTSMAN: “McCanns ‘won’t mark’ Madeleine’s fifth birthday”
Family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said of the birthday: “Gerry will be at work and Kate will be at or around home. Sadly, for them it is just another day without Madeleine.”

The thing to do is rise above it and just ignore any response. Glasgow is just as good
as any City, the days of the Gorbals long gone!!!!!!

To be honest I don”t know where Madeleines bed was. There was one plan I saw to
prove that Cuddlecat was not on a shelf as Kate said, because there was no Shelf!!!!
One thing , where did Kate find the time to clean the Apartment to such an extent that
even the curtains were washed and dried?

Val
Where did you get this pathetic info regarding Kate cleaning the apartment?
May 11th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
chenny why are you squirming along with your camp followers ”
In at least one case - the false allegation that there were pornographic images on his computer - the Portuguese media later published corrections”
The article I quoted never mentioned a computer, it stated a laptop from 4 years ago, now why would Murat claim not to have “known” Malinka.
What was that about recycled rubbish, the only waste is coming from yourself and your new found fans.
Do you think I should report these blatant attacks on Glasgow to the appropriate authority, no it’s probably better to do what all Glaswegians do, feel pity for those not so fortunate as we are.

If you look back to Val’s post it was not refering to anyone hiding behind the door.
It was why Oldfield did not apparantly see Madeleine on his check.

Yes and apologies Fair.
Having connection problems at mo which is causing me to flip through posts, which isant a bad thing!

I had logged off when you asked your question last night. I did reply this morning on the previous thread. But in case you missed it, I’ll repeat my reply here . . .

Up to you, was only putting something straight which seemed to bother you. ie M’s bed was right in front as the door was opened. Not behind the door!

There will always be room behind the door to hide if it wasnt opened flat against the wall. (i take it the diagram shows the wardrobes preventing this)
Unless the abductor was about 30 stone of course.

I wouldn”t set too much store by the plans. Apparently Madeleine slept in a single bed
and there was a double bed in the same room, yet according to other plans the twins
cots were in the same room as Madeleine. this makes more sense because appt 5a
is twobedroomed. The apartment has been refurbished and new furniture replaced, which would account for the double bed IMO

From all the reporting, I”m pretty sure Kate was the one. I think she was alone on
the Balcony screaming “theyv”e taken her”. As far as the point of a reconstruction
goes, I read somewhere a while ago that the PJ is unable to confirm the last sighting
of Madeleine and this might be another reason other than the Timelines.

If you look at the photos & the plan in the NOTW (& previous plans) the door opened the other way. ie you didn’t need to look *behind* the door….
The wardrobe was *behind* the door!

Gandolf,
Our very own roving reporter, Carmen, has provided considerable insights following her visit to PDL.
Including the tosh talked about witnesses spotting Murat when he was elsewhere.

Can someone tell me where these considerable insights are?

Chenny, why would any one believe one article over another, perhaps if you understood that the mirror referred to an event of four years ago, your zimmer would not go into a skid, a time you may recall that Murat could not have possibly known Malinka, but there again people lie just like newspapers.
—————————–
You claim to be well informed about Murat’s libel actions.
You claim that you know all about it.
And yet you deliberately posted an extract from an old article which had been flatly contradicted by a much later article about Murat’s libel actions.
Which you claim to know all about.
Yes, right…

If we take Mrs. Fenns alleged statement as true, namely that she had been watching
the BBC news which finshes at 10.25, turned her TV off and heard the commotion
from 5a that would have tied in with Kate”s claim that she checked at 10pm. Kate ran back sto the Tapas Bar to tell Gerry and apparently the Police were called by OC Staff.
First question, why didn”t Gerry go rushing back to the Apartment with Kate?
We know Gerry checked about 9pm because Jez Wilkins spoke to him,
Second question. why would Oldfield say he saw the twins, but not Madeleine, if you
had gone into the apartment it would be natural to look behind the door to see if
Madeleine was O.K, and Gerry had only recently checked , so why ask Oldfield?
I think the 9.30pm check is the dodgiest, and if Rachel was supposed to have stayed
in that night, why would Oldfield check on his kids anyway? This theory of the 2nd
doesn”t sit well with me, I just can”t imagine any parent acting as if nothing has happened, have all day and evening to hold it together .

The counter says 291,690.
That’s a bit of an ugly number. I asked the numbers man I’ve got in my cupboard to give me a nice rounded figure, but he said that my figure was already more than amply rounded and slammed the door.

Meanwhile, another witness has said he found porn on Murat’s laptop when he went to see web expert Sergey Malinka, a pal of Murat’s, four years ago. He was told it belonged to Murat, but had been with Malinka to be repaired. His statement contradicts claims by Malinka and Murat - who deny any involvement - that they had not known each other for long before Madeleine vanished.

Tsk, tsk, Gandolf. Still relying on old articles which you know have been proven false?
Try the Telegraph of 28/04/2008 for a rather more up to date comment on the matter:
‘In at least one case - the false allegation that there were pornographic images on his computer - the Portuguese media later published corrections.’
