Barack Obama As Curious George
RACISM in America? Never. It’s misogyny America does best. Farewell Hillary.
First, take a look at this lovely T-shirt being sold at Mulligan’s Bar and Grill in Marietta/Cobb County, Georgia (h/t Jeremy from Cobb).
And here…
Racist?

The white race is always creating Racial issues and excusing it, simply because they can. African Americans are suppose to be the ignorent race , according to White’s. When you look at the big picture, Whites are afraid of the fact that African Americans are intelligent and if given the opportunity, can do a better job then the white man. According to the ignorent Idiot that made the T-Shirt, all race’s can be ignorent from time to time even if you are a sucessful resturant owner .

It seems to be a matter of ignorance or racism. In any event both are bad. One would think many Americans, who don’t have their heads in the sand, know the history of this country and that African-Americans were often described as monkeys by racist people and the description is still being used today. A few months ago I saw people describing African-Americans as monkeys on some news boards.
I think about other people’s feelings before I speak or do something because I care about people. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean it’s not necessary to use wisdom before speaking. Only a fool spews words without thinking.
The whole world is watching us– watching America during this election. What are we showing them? Are we showing them that we are truly a great country? Are we showing them that we are a country that they should respect? Or are we showing them that we are hypocrites and small minded people?

You do have the right to freely express yourself. However, it is what it is. all of you who think that this t-shirt is not racist are in denial . You have the right to be racist. Don’t hide behind freedom of expression. Take a stand and say “yes i am a racist”, and this t-shirt validates it.

In practice in the UK, where English and Democracy were invented, regarding the Freedom of speech and anything else JS Mill’s harm principle is involved.
You can say or do what you like until it affects anyone else, or your liberty ends where someone else’s begins.
In practice you can say what you like until you offend someone.
That’s why we close down Nazi hate websites while they get protected in the US as they worry about an amendment in a document in which it’s clearly stated that it can be changed at any time due to circumstances (like with the first amendment, lol).
Nowadays people seem to think that they can be as offensive/racist as they like and then go on about “breaching my freedom of speech” like on the Sun website, when we don’t have any, and if you don’t like it you can go back to America, or rather their television where they get their constitutional ideas from.
Also in the UK it’s all about intent. Looks like the intent (on the Tee) is to offend, and if enough people get offended and protest, then the state (in the UK) would have to take that on board, that’s called flexibility and common sense, something obviously lacking in other climes. This is how it’s ok to have George Bush as a monkey and not with the T Shirt, because as soon as someone feels racially offended, then they are. It’s very simple, unless you are a Simian yourself, perhaps.
Language-wise, politically and constitutionally when I see what our cousins get up to and the silly knots they get themselves in I feel like Charlton Heston in Planet of the Apes in that scene when he realises that he was on Earth all along and not a planet of Savage Apes “My God, they blew it up, they blew it uuuuup!”

Comparing a black guy to a monkey is racist, but comparing Bush to a chimp is perfectly acceptable. Damn, those racial stereotypes keep getting in the way of my freedom of expression.
Being politically correct takes away our freedom to be ourselves in the name of not offending anyone. Sorry, but if you can’t be yourself, if you cannot express yourself without fear of reprisal, then you have lost your freedom.

In practice, right to freedom of expression has always been less than total, e.g., libel laws, interests of National Security etc

Have your people’s physical attributes compared to monkeys ( when they are not, they are humans who do the same thing as every other person does) ever since they arrived in this country and see how nice it feels. It is not a nice thing , it was meant to offend . Since when does someone’s hair and smile being compared to a monkey’s, come as a compliment ?
Obama does not look like a monkey any more than McCain does. When will we be able to get past this racist name- calling and offending ?
And another thing, if it offends someone, stop doing it and be considerate. Blacks have been ridiculed since they were brought to the U.S against their will. They were supposedly not as smart as whites, their black skin was not attractive, etc…. enough is enough !

This is a classic. Curious George is a natural for Barack Obama. The t-shirt isn’t racist, but you can bet every chance the Obama camp get to yell “RACIST!!!!” they will. That tactic is also a natural. Pull your swords, here comes the campaign.

Barack Obama favors Curious George in every respect, except the curious part.

No .. this is NOT racist. Curious George is known for his curious and fun-loving antics. Those people yelling ‘racism’ are taking this far too personally. Get over it!
