Madeleine McCann: Scotsman Apologises To Robert Murat
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
ROBERT Murat is involved in legal action against 11 British newspapers and Sky New.
THE Scotsman has apologised to Robert Murat and admitted publishing defamatory allegations about him.
Says the paper:
“On 15 May an article about Robert Murat headed ‘Madeleine: He jokes of being ‘No.1 suspect’’ was published in which we reported a number of defamatory allegations about Mr Murat in connection with the abduction of Madeleine McCann.
“The article wrongly accused him of ‘hanging around’ the scene in a manner which recalled the Soham murders.
“Likening his behaviour in this way to that of Soham murderer, Ian Huntley, suggested that he was involved in the abduction of Madeleine McCann. It was a seriously defamatory allegation and wholly untrue.”
The apology continued: “We also wrongly implied that he had been unfeeling and insensitive about Madeleine McCann’s disappearance and had lied about his role in the police investigation. That was not our intention.
“We accept that Mr Murat was assisting the police investigation into Madeleine McCann’s disappearance and that his behaviour was entirely proper throughout, and we are happy to make that clear.
“We apologise to Mr Murat for the hurt, distress and damage to his reputation caused by the article.”
No damages have been paid to Murat. Not yet…

Doctor Watson… why do you keep asking that daft question when, on an anonymous forum where multiple names are allowed, there is no way of know ing if any answer you may get is true / false / just plain old deceptive for the fun of it?
To quote Gloria very quickly….. don’t tell him Pike!!

Lawener…… I think the same as you. Always have……
Gloria… I had to go to Hunstanton once in the month of march and it was closed.
May 17th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
Here I am Dr. Watson with my usual cheeky question:
Dear Lawener,
Have you posted on here before under any name?
May 17th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
It’s just that, if you even concede that there’s a faint chance that they might be innocent. it seems so cowardly to keep kicking them like this.
May 17th, 2008 at 7:08 pm
BTW is there any Grandolf McCann who remembers brass farthings?
………
Don’t tell him, Pike!

Yeah Dr Who is doing an Agatha Christie recon this evening. Curious that because when Madeleine disappeared they had that creepy Angel abduction in time episode. Is that why Gandolf talks about the angellic loving couple?
BTW is there any Grandolf McCann who remembers brass farthings?
Off to watch it

I can feel a coach trip to Hunstanton coming on, we could sit in a bus shelter in our rain bonnets..

June! They are divine! Please order me a pair in oatmeal, windsor red, duck-turd green, elastoplast pink and, as illustrated, royal blue!
(The wool is that salmon-y colour, with just the suggestion of lurex for added allure).
*********** Lovely aren’t they, perfect for lunchtime the dances!

I too am frequently filled with huge sympathy for the families involved with this terrible tradgedy of what happened to Madeleine, whatever way it turns out. If in time the parents are arrested and charged I will certainly not be amongst any angry lynch mob that want harsh justice. In Portugal as Salamon ES pointed out the sentencing for the possible crimes they could be accused with is likely lenient anyway - so soft judges needn’t worry
I would point out how the demeanour the couple present in the ITV docu. contrasted with their demeanour in the Anniversary interviews. And the thought occured to me that you can use make up to make people look worse as well as better!
I’d like to take a second look at the clip in the ITV docu. -mummy, why didn’t you come to us when we are crying. K gets angrily upset but not on Madeleine and Sean’s behalf, but about how that news spoiled the EU debut (imo). And standing beside her G. smiled with glittering eyes not appearing upset about the children crying or the spoilt EU debut - the wider agenda perhaps imo.
Emotional manipulation is the hallmark of this case imo. If only there could be regulations to protect the public from it .
Take care

Well, that’s what you get for giving your all to Masturbation Month…
……………….
You make a very good point chenier and since we still have 14 and a bit days of Masturbation Month left, I’d better be careful or I’ll find myself in tailored linen and Jimmy’s Shoes by 01.06.08. (Shudders and dashes off on a job for Smudd’s Taxis)

Tailored linen is good.
Lacks the retro flare of Crimplene, but still good.
The Choos are a bit more problematical…

June - I had to nip off for a while to crochet myself a balaclava to cover Mr Scissorhands’s efforts of earlier in the day. Honestly, all I asked for was a Thora Hird and he’s sent me home with a Katie Holmes, all subtle highlights, precision-cutting and high-chic bones, not exactly in keeping with my crimplene frocks and roomy sandals. Grrr.

I honestly think the McCanns are totally innocent. I seem to be the only one on here. The only thing I think they are guilty of is leaving their children alone. I find it upsetting that so many are willing to think the worst of this incredibly upset and grieving couple.
————————————-
Well, Gandolf goes one better and holds that there is nothing guilty about leaving their children alone…
