Madeleine McCann: My Brilliant Career
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE GUARDIAN: “Heard the same song three times today? Blame the craze for ‘testing’ tunes”
Martin Kelner is writing on his career in radio:
“The problem is that during the day most of my local radio stations are aiming at a broadly similar audience, roughly women of a certain age, from around 30 to a shade over 55. Those who claim to be in the know say this is the constituency that will help you to a good score in the quarterly Rajar figures.
The slavish adherence to this perceived wisdom was made clear to me at the BBC local station that sacked me just over a year ago (on the same day Madeleine McCann went missing actually, which is probably why you never saw much about it in the newspapers) for not being “female friendly” enough.
Irony? Given the Madeleine McCann is now a linked to the f9 button on a journalist’s keyboard, it’s hard to tell…

I think he means it more like :
“”The word “purgatory” is also used, in a non-specific sense, to mean any
place or condition of suffering or torment, especially one that is temporary.”"
Sauce : Wikipedia.

‘purgatory-type existence’
This quote is very very interesting
I have always thought that when they prayed forgiveness, and then had these visions etc……….
They made a pact like, if you let us keep the twins we will do some good campaigning for childrens issues for the rest of our lives,
Kate thinks she can skip prison, keep the kids and do her stint in purgatory on earth, so she can skip that after death too.
All the above is mindless speculation and my opinion off course

If the two refuse, but friends go - it would be an embarassing moment for the two!

In other words blocking out what you choose NOT to remember!!!!!!
One thing about the Leicestershire Article, are witnesses and arguidos supposed to
discuss the case? Under the circumstances it could be seen by the PJ as conspiracy
to agree their statements revised possibly since the interviews?

Hi, Jo, welcome!
Here a try to tell a joke.
Two rich farmers in Texas, talking to each other, and one wants to make impression on the other.
_”If at 05.00 am, I get in my truck and start driving, at 12 o’clock in the night a still did not reach the border of my neighbour’s farm”.
-”Yeahhh, I once had a truck like that too.”

Good afternoon to you and all.
The most ridiculous comment from Gerry is from one of the T.V. interviews recently.
About the abduction “I just wish I”d been there”. errr, Gerry, if you had, there would have been no abduction!!!!!!
Re-reading yesterday”s report in The People, this sentence puzzled me.”A tense
showdown with the Portugese Police”………have they been to the U.K. without the
U.K. Press noticing.?

Goleman (1985) argues that (1) the mind often protects itself against anxiety by dimming awareness, (2) this cognitive process creates a blind spot, a zone of blocked attention and self-deception, and (3) such blind spots occur at every level of system, from individuals to groups, to organizations and to societies. When people are threatened with anxiety, there is a strong human tendency to deny parts of the world. When, for example, one feels threatened and begins to prepare oneself for a stressful event, one tends to bias many pieces of information as confirming the appraisal of threat (Beck, 1967). The active denial of the world to allay the threat of anxiety takes many forms, including avoided associations, numbness, flattened response, dimming of attention, constricted thought, memory failure, disavowal, and blocking through fantasy (Horowitz, 1983).
. . . . . when the context is marked by feelings of fear, threat anxiety, and protectiveness, the dynamics of perception become even more entrenched (Goleman, 1985). Under conditions of fear and anxiety, individuals and groups will dim awareness and deny what is going on in the world. Hence, people often guard against seeing the very things that might allay their fears. To understand this paradox is to understand one of the central challenges of working with systems divided by conflict and caught in defensive perception.

About the law in Portugal:
I asked somebody there about limits of complaining to authorities, about something wrong.
It depends of the case.
For damshinhing(?) on your car, little accident caused by others, the limit is 6 months.
Serious happenings, like neglect with serious consequences, the limit can take years.

Don’t hold your breath.
Will be very embarrassing for them though if the Tapas7 have already informed
the PJ that they are agreeable to attend.
M and A
Matt you messed up your email addy, but shall ok it
May 19th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
Is it down to hopes of being charged for neglect rather than the alternative?
Just speculation, you know.
May 19th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
peter - I would think no so, if ever it comes about that like - to compare - like is going to be happening - then maybe not or so or what ever!!

Hi
It seems they are going aint they?and they would rather go because may be the PJ has serious reservations about THEM NOT going back…..
May 19th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
peter mac - I did read some time ago that there were a team of psychologists watching, listening and analysing the speeches, movemnent and idiosyncrasies of the pair. I am sure that reports have been made - it is all part of modern policing

Someone suggested yesterday that a speech oriented psychologist could pull a lot of this apart. I do tend to agree. This is more than just uneducated illiterate and regional speech patterns and sloppy thinking.

Could be just deep deep denial . . . I am reading up on denial.
Some evidence suggests that given concrete evidence to the contrary, denial can become even stronger.

It repeats this strange and disturbing statement from GM - Mr McCann said: ‘People will say that they’ve never done that and you know, who am I to argue? We have to live with the fact that we weren’t directly there and if we were then possibly, probably it wouldn’t have happened.”
Weren’t DIRECTLY there..?.. IT possibly, probably wouldn’t have happened.. ?
“But she revealed how she dreaded the prospect of having to search for Madeleine for another 40 years.”
- Depends when you are going to start, I suppose -
She said: ‘We’re never going to get to a day where you think, “OK, we’ve tried everything now. We’re exhausted and we need to start living”.’
Mr McCann said: ‘Your life is carrying on to an extent, in a quasi-real existence, a purgatory-type existence.’
“YOUR life…?” Who is GM talking about. He seems again to think he is talking about himself and his own life, but in fact is projecting away from himself the whole time.
Someone suggested yesterday that a speech oriented psychologist could pull a lot of this apart. I do tend to agree. This is more than just uneducated illiterate and regional speech patterns and sloppy thinking.
