Madeleine McCann: My Brilliant Career
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE GUARDIAN: “Heard the same song three times today? Blame the craze for ‘testing’ tunes”
Martin Kelner is writing on his career in radio:
“The problem is that during the day most of my local radio stations are aiming at a broadly similar audience, roughly women of a certain age, from around 30 to a shade over 55. Those who claim to be in the know say this is the constituency that will help you to a good score in the quarterly Rajar figures.
The slavish adherence to this perceived wisdom was made clear to me at the BBC local station that sacked me just over a year ago (on the same day Madeleine McCann went missing actually, which is probably why you never saw much about it in the newspapers) for not being “female friendly” enough.
Irony? Given the Madeleine McCann is now a linked to the f9 button on a journalist’s keyboard, it’s hard to tell…

Brandon Flours - it would be helpful to Meercat if you would acknowledge where you are cutting and pasting from - especially such an old piece.
And do you not answer your e-mails any longer?

A short article on McCannfiles, I think it is The Sun, May 16th.
They write about the fact that the McCanns are still the prime suspects, and the reconstruction has to be made.
Sometimes I get the feeling it is not going to happen.
And that the PJ wants to show(through not reconstruction) the parents are involved in the disappearence.
This is not an evidence but one more indication.
People are not blind.
If they are innocent, the rest of the Tapas must know it, and they all should be prepared to go to Portugal.

A new file of evidence includes lengthy interviews with both Mrs McCann and her husband, Gerry, after they were made official suspects last week.
It also includes details of forensic evidence collected in the McCann’s apartment and hire car and the results
of surveillance by Portuguese and ………
British police.
Jose Cunha de Magalhaes e Meneses, the public prosecutor based in Portimao, will have to decide what, if any, charges should be brought against Mr and Mrs McCann. The couple can remain as official suspects for up to eight months.
Chief Inspector Olegario Sousa, spokesman for the Portuguese police inquiry, said: “At the moment the inquiry is being prepared to be handed to the prosecutor in charge of the case. He will analyse it and after this he will make his decision.”
Asked when the papers would be handed over, he said: “Probably during today.”
Portuguese police decided to pass the file on to the prosecutor despite not having all the results from forensic tests being carried out by the Forensic Science Service in Birmingham.
Mr Sousa said: “The information is that we have received part of the forensic results, so we are waiting for the rest.”
The McCanns’ Portuguese lawyer, Carlos Pinto de Abreu, has said he has no idea how long it would take for the case to be concluded. It is understood the McCanns could have to wait months before learning whether they will be charged or cleared.

I never knew they were under survelaince by british police?
If this is untrue, how come they havent sued this paper?

TALKS OVER RE-ENACT BID
10:30 - 19 May 2008
Madeleine McCann’s parents and their friends could return to Portugal in the next two weeks to re-enact the night of the youngster’s abduction.
Clarence Mitchell, the family’s spokesman, said talks were going on among the group over whether it would be useful.
However, it is understood they are wary of returning to Portugal, where Mr and Mrs McCann remain formal suspects.
Police in Portugal are reported to be pushing for the group to return to Praia da Luz for the re-enactment, which would be to help the investigators and would not be televised.
Mr Mitchell told reporters: “The discussions about the possible visit by all nine are ongoing. It is down to the friends - as well as Kate and Gerry - to decide whether they want to go back.
“Of course, Kate and Gerry would do anything they could if they thought it would help find their daughter.
“There are some serious questions surrounding the value of the proposed exercise.”
