Find Madeleine McCann On Facebook
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
SAY the McCanns: “We strongly support and encourage this new initiative to use Facebook to increase awareness of missing children.”
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you will know that children go missing.
Although not if you’re watching the TV news of reading the newspapers because Madeleine McCann is no longer in the mass media.
But the campaign has not been in vain. She is on a press release.
And the better news is that no children have gone missing in the past few weeks. We look through the mainstream press every day. It’s a fact. But what of life on the internet?
The statement goes on: “Using the power of social media in this way will undoubtedly capture the attention - and hopefully the help - of a younger population who are a hugely valuable and resourceful group.
“We would urge the millions of Facebook users around the world to keep looking and to do what they can to help bring these children home.”
Missing People has set up a widget for Facebook users to download, which will mean information on current appeals will be displayed on their homepage.
Says missing People Chief Executive Paul Tuohy: “If every Facebook user downloaded our BT-powered application, millions of people internationally could see an appeal that could help us to reunite a family.”
Because BT cares…

it’s a suspicion, i’m not sure why that’s dishonest ? i don’t think it’s okay to have that suspicion either.

Ras, I’m hurt.
After all those happy days we spent together slagging each other off, exchanging music videos of dubious origins, making the world a better place, not least because it didn’t have us in it, and then you cruelly cast me aside for another.
I gave you the best posting days of my life, you one-legged philanderer, and now you’re insulting someone else.

I know the story of Madeleine has been bigger and has stayed in the news longer than the Ben Needham disappearance but I still wonder if it will eventually just fade away with no-on ever knowing what really happened to Madeleine.
Then in X number of years time when something similar happens everyone will say ‘I wonder what happened to Madeleine McCann? was she ever found? She’d be twenty now’.
Much the same as we now do about Ben.
I also wonder how Ben’s disappearance 16 years ago would have been viewed if we had all been hanging around on the internet then? Same big story?
Now I’m being too deep and meaningful so I’m off to bail out the car before starting work. A lesson here…. remember to close the car windows completely when downpours are predicted.

i like the paragraph:
“Mitchell was a former Foreign Office official and government spin doctor. After becoming the McCanns’ official spokesman he immediately orchestrated a turnaround in British media coverage: stories about the parents’ possible guilt were replaced by stories about the renewed search for Maddie, and sightings.”
and:
“This story sums it up. Steve Ellis, executive at Burson-Marsteller, one of the largest public relations firms in the world, told David Michie that if Iraq’s Saddam Hussein had come to him, he would have taken him on as a client because “as professional communicators, we should at least help him get his message across”

Mrarvilha….. so you actually KNOW he’s innocent then? How?
May 27th, 2008 at 10:01 am
Whoops….. Just had a flick back and I agree with you so….
Maria…. do stay but scroll the ankle snapping aggressors. best way. That is what I do. it avoids both hassle and hypertension.
I can never understand why opposing posters have to be seen as Trolls etc. The worst problem with multi-posters is currently coming from the rabid anti-McCanns who were eventually banned and then thought the 3A’s would be happy happy land.
Now these ‘Anorak Abusers’ have discovered they are teeny little tiddlers in a sea of sharks they’re all creeping back under different names. So funny.

1223 Coolandcalm,
I have no idea why Murat is still an arguido.
I don’t know how this works.
I always thought he was innocent.
About “seeing him”: for me [I think ] that Rachel, Russel and Fiona [may have] lied about Murat’s presence that night. [edited - dr]
And this is serious. Maybe Russel needs a cover up because he was absent for a while that night.
Disgusting, accusing innocent people.
Those three might interess the PJ a lot.
Maybe they are the key of the disappearence of the corpse.
That could be the reason they are pointing somebody else.
IMO, this is the reason.

Maravilha, it has been said that Murat and one of the Tapas group do bear a striking similarity, it could just be mistaken identity?
May 27th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Maria-had to go to bed last night so missed your latest posts-please don’t stop posting. for the record M&A mentioned something about you swapping sides and you have to be one thing or another-least that is how I read it. I don’t agree, as no-one knows what really happened anyway-except that the children were left alone and I agree there is a huge chasm between neglect and perverting the course of Justice.
I have mixed feelings about the McCanns but I don’t see myself as pro or anti.
BTW-Peter and Jane-book 3 ball gets stuck up tree and Peter gets ladder-hope I haven’t spoilt the end for you.
Come back soon.

The idea of this site is that people have an opinion, either the McCanns are innocent, or have some knowledge of what happened to Madeleine to a greater or lesser extent. Or the poster is on the fence and undecided, or they plainly do not know what happened. But we do ask people to decide before they post. Maria treats the threads as though its personal diary in saying they are innocent unless they are guilty, then she’ll change her mind - she could be honest then and say she doesn’t know.

Peacekeepers accused of child abuse
ITN - 35 minutes agoA charity has accused aid workers and peacekeepers of sexually abusing children as young as six.
Save the Children has said an international watchdog must be set up urgently to deal with widespread cases of child sex abuse by aid workers and peacekeepers.
It has demanded action after its research found youngsters as young as six were trading sex for food, money, soap and even mobile phones in war zones and disaster areas.
It said all organisations, including itself, had their share of abusers involved in “some of the most despicable abuse against some of the world’s most vulnerable children”.
The scale of abuse was “significant” and victims were being let down by “endemic failures” in responding to the incidences that were official reported, it concluded.
Better reporting mechanisms should be introduced, it said, as well as efforts made to strengthen child protection systems across the globe.
Hundreds of young people from Ivory Coast, Southern Sudan and Haiti were involved in the research behind the conclusions.
Publication of the findings comes amid two massive international aid efforts - for the victims of the Chinese earthquake and the cyclone in Burma.
Save the Children UK chief executive Jasmine Whitbread said: “This research exposes the despicable actions of a small number of perpetrators who are sexually abusing some of the most vulnerable children in the world, the very children they are meant to protect.
She added:”However, all humanitarian and peacekeeping agencies working in emergency situations, including Save the Children UK, must own up to the fact that they are vulnerable to this problem and tackle it head on.”
Liberal Democrat international development spokesman Michael Moore said: “This shocking report has brought light to an issue which many would rather ignore.
“Such cases of abuse are made so much worse by the fact the perpetrators are victimising the most vulnerable children in the world, the very people they are supposed to be helping.
The British Government should champion a global watchdog on this issue and the United Nations must ensure that all peacekeepers and aid workers acting on its behalf are held to the highest moral standards.”
Shadow international development secretary Andrew Mitchell said: “This hard-hitting report from Save the Children makes disturbing reading. Any UN soldier or aid worker found guilty of abuse should be dismissed and held accountable by the full force of the law.”
M and A
Apparently after the tsunami and other major natural tragedies this was said, it was found not to be true. There is a lot of lawlessness round at these times, and children may suffer abuse at the hands of any opportunist, and most victims are very vulnerable.

Maravilha……. soooo the PJ believe Robert Murat, they know he was not there etc (according to his lawyer of course)
so why is still an Arguido? an offical suspect? the same as the McCanns?
I don’t understand.
Well actually I do understand. Murat wasn’t ’seen’ until much much later that night, long after Madeleine has disappeared and the reconstruction time zone.
And it wasn’t just the friends who allegedly saw him, it was also MW staff and holidaymakers.
All in the pay of the McCanns no doubt? Hmmmm.
M and A
In which case the reconstruction shall help , if its a case of mistaken identity?
