Find Madeleine McCann On Facebook
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
SAY the McCanns: “We strongly support and encourage this new initiative to use Facebook to increase awareness of missing children.”
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you will know that children go missing.
Although not if you’re watching the TV news of reading the newspapers because Madeleine McCann is no longer in the mass media.
But the campaign has not been in vain. She is on a press release.
And the better news is that no children have gone missing in the past few weeks. We look through the mainstream press every day. It’s a fact. But what of life on the internet?
The statement goes on: “Using the power of social media in this way will undoubtedly capture the attention - and hopefully the help - of a younger population who are a hugely valuable and resourceful group.
“We would urge the millions of Facebook users around the world to keep looking and to do what they can to help bring these children home.”
Missing People has set up a widget for Facebook users to download, which will mean information on current appeals will be displayed on their homepage.
Says missing People Chief Executive Paul Tuohy: “If every Facebook user downloaded our BT-powered application, millions of people internationally could see an appeal that could help us to reunite a family.”
Because BT cares…

Merry Sans Frontieres , today, with the help of an RAF Hercules transport plane , dropped an emergency supply of corkscrews and Wine Flutes into an undisclosed area of Tuscany.

Actually, now I come to think of it, most of the proper entrants can’t sing either.

Ooh Ethel-all getting a bit deep for me-beginning to think I’m more of a Pac-a -mac than an anorak.
A banana is yellow-of that I am sure.
I still believe that Maria speaks what she feels-and that is OK by me-as long as it is not libellous-I do not, however, understand why there is a need for aggression-she is not, and could not, and would not want to tell any other poster what to think on what is such a highly emotive subject.

Each and every day it seems, Anorak finds some spurious excuse to include a magic word like ‘Madeleine’ or ‘McCann’ in an article header. Then without fail, they’re off again gnawing at a bone which has been done over so many times it must have greater regenerative powers than the magic pudding.
It’s like certain tabloids using another magic word - Diana - well and truly past it’s use-by-date, but which they still find useful for providing essential lubrication - sadly.
hi real stig, i have to agree somewhat sadly, but then i think perhaps it’s no more ’sadder’ than other activities pursued by the interested as observed by the uninterested ?

We have actually cut down on the number of threads, despite strong protests from posters. In fact we should be more than happy to pull the remains of the story and end it.
You are not privy to our meetings/discusssions, but perhaps you would email the Editor and tell him your thoughts….then duck when you find exactly what we think

Yes I made a comment about some harsh anti-McCann content in Maria’s posts eg her mention of relief at the prospect of the McCann’s being found guilty, and opinion, that she would regard them as evil if they were found guilty of some of the possible charges against them. My concern was to distance my comments from hers.
I am aware that she regards herself/is regarded as pro-McCann. She appears to act as self-appointed protector/spokesperson as well as the imaginary crowd that may bay for their blood if they are found guilty of serious crimes - a schizophrenic stance at times making assumptions about what other posters think. Yet I cannot think of any poster that represents that imaginary crowd’s view that she argues with.
imo there could be a problem in posters assuming that they are spokespeople for Team McCann if their comments may incite hatred or make potentially libellous comments about the McCanns who they claim to support.

1078-I said that I think Maria has Madeleine’s best interest at heart-yes agreed. i do not have to justify it -I believe it. I did not say you have to agree-or if so, can you tell me where?
I just don’t think ’sanctimonious humbug’ is a substantial answer-Why are you so aggressive to maria-or me, or others for that matter-which bit don’t you understand?

You said that you thought that Maria ‘has Madeleine’s best interests at heart.’
You gave no explanation whatsoever for that statement; you simply ask me to accept what you think.
I replied that I thought it was sanctimonious humbug.
And now you complain that I haven’t explained why I think its sanctimonious humbug.
It does seem that you are working on dual standards here…

No you are right or write…. correct I will opt for. It is all about M and justice and giving her a voice.
May 26th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
I still think she might have just wandered off and the Mccanns know that if they left her open to that-it would be negligence-perhaps they don’t know what happened to her-but, professionally it would not be good for them to have left her in a position where she was vulnerable and could come to harm by herself-if a third party was involved then someone elses wickedness has determined her fate and they get the sympathy vote-all IMO-and probably wrong.
