Find Madeleine McCann On Facebook
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
SAY the McCanns: “We strongly support and encourage this new initiative to use Facebook to increase awareness of missing children.”
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you will know that children go missing.
Although not if you’re watching the TV news of reading the newspapers because Madeleine McCann is no longer in the mass media.
But the campaign has not been in vain. She is on a press release.
And the better news is that no children have gone missing in the past few weeks. We look through the mainstream press every day. It’s a fact. But what of life on the internet?
The statement goes on: “Using the power of social media in this way will undoubtedly capture the attention - and hopefully the help - of a younger population who are a hugely valuable and resourceful group.
“We would urge the millions of Facebook users around the world to keep looking and to do what they can to help bring these children home.”
Missing People has set up a widget for Facebook users to download, which will mean information on current appeals will be displayed on their homepage.
Says missing People Chief Executive Paul Tuohy: “If every Facebook user downloaded our BT-powered application, millions of people internationally could see an appeal that could help us to reunite a family.”
Because BT cares…

The Commission may only deal with the matter after all domestic remedies have been exhausted, according to the generally recognized rules of international law, and within a period of six months from the date on which the final decision was taken.
Thank you for your kind words Chenier, it is a matter of legal opinion as to whither arguido status is legal under European Law, I am sure Mr Caplan certainly knows the answer to his and his clients satisfaction, tosh ?

Hi.
Well, the Mcs asked for a reconstruction months ago. Even if it had been done for TV, the police would have been closely involved.
I think her sighting was doubted by some from the start. That’s one reason why she did the Panorama programme, or so she said.
I know what you mean about going nuts trying to figure it all out!!

Wasn”t it the McCanns who said it was inconvenient, not sure though, in fact CM
seems to be speaking for all of them which is gross interference, he is NOT employed
by the Tapas 7!!!!!!!! As far as I know, there has been no word from the Tapas 7 on the
matter and CM should butt out.
I would think the Tapas 7 Lawyers would advise them .
Ask Lone Pigeon if he will give you a ride ……LOL

There are disadvantages to being able to multitask; particularly when one is confronted with the delightful naivety which enables loved ones to believe that Wonderwoman will take care of it all.
I therefore suggest that you put the iron down.
Remember, it leaves marks.

Hello yourself and thanks.
I read a couple of weeks ago that the PJ did not expect the recon to take place and in
fact wondered, why so late? If it is just to tie up loose ends I still don”t understand why
the recon couldn”t have been done earlier. the fact that the McCanns retained Caplan
and Co as soon as they returned to the U.K. is significant.
Perhaps the PJ were clever enough to arrange the recon, knowing some would refuse
so a couple more will be made arguidos. Oh, I don”t know, this case is going to go down
in History, all I know is it”s driving me nuts trying to figure it all out.!!!
May 25th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
It’s heading towards 4.26 pm and you are moving mountains in order to get the Smudd menage on the road tomorrow.
………………
Which leaves less than 12 hours until we need to wedge our collective amplitude into the car and yawn and squabble our way to the airport … and I need every second !
Suffice to say that Old Smuddy is only now selecting the things he really wants me to pack, having ambled in a few moments ago.
Chatelaine - I hope you are right about the weather forecast!
wtf - thanks for your good wishes! Won’t it seem blissfully peaceful here without me!

We shall really miss you , find an interent cafe to keep us in touch, but do enjoy your holiday

Who were the people who refused going last May 15th 16th?
May 25th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
Val, if helicopters will fly above the place, it would be nice for us.
I am so curious to find out what is going on.
Maybe there is a way to hide everything.
Witnesses and arguidos walking and running around with an open umbrella.

Hello Val. in simple terms if arguido status infringes European Law, which it almost certainly does, the McCanns could petition the EHCR tomorrow, without having to exhaust the Portuguese legal process.
—————————————————
That’s total tosh.
Individuals are required to exhaust all legal processes in the relevant territories before they can get permission to go to the EHCR, unsurprisingly since otherwise it would be deluged.
‘You must have used all the remedies in the State concerned that might have been able to redress the situation you are complaining about (usually, this will mean an application to the appropriate court, followed by an appeal, where applicable, and even a further appeal to a higher court such as the supreme court or constitutional court, if there is one).’
http://www.echr.coe.int/ECHR/EN/Header/Applicants/Information+for+applicants/Frequently+asked+questions/
And claiming that arguido status infringes European law might be a little more credible if you explained why you believe this to be the case…

The PJ have rented Apartment 5a until July so if a recon doesn”t take place they
have wasted 24,000 Euro, hence the need for secrecy so as not to give the Tapas 9
any excuse. Even if the area is surrounded I forsee Helicopters filming overhead, the
Press from all over Europe will be trying to take photos.. No disrespect but could all
the security in the world stop the Paparazzi taking photos of Princess Diana?
M and A
Diana was never an arguido. Portuguese airspace can ban flights, and arrest nuisance photographers/media? This is possibly criminal, not celebrity/civil

I can’t wait till the moment one of the witnesess will get him/herself in trouble, voluntarily refusing to go back to Algarve.
This will be a great moment.
He/she will attract a huge attention of the police.
Great, great, great!!!!!!

GLORIA, good afternoon
I don’t know where you’re going to be in Toscana, but I think the weather will be fine [unless, of course, you think between 23 and 28ºC is cold ….

170 Val,
Of course the PJ had to tell about the reconstruction. The world got to know if they are cooperating or not with the police.
They will stop blaming the PJ for everything.
Telling around will help Tapas 9 to go to Algarve.
Media around them? Well, I believe that the place will be isolated and the media will not get the chance to film them.
It is not difficult to isolate a small area.
The police are used to it.

Can you condense the Articles into Layman”s terms? TA.
I understood that if you are a witness you are obliged to attend the recon. Gerry moaned that none of the Holidaymakers would be there, but I don”t think that matters.
The main threat would be the Tapas Bar staff who I think would be there and their
statements differ substantially from the Tapas 9. The PJ should never have made known their intention to reconstruct or the date IMO. The Tapas 7 would be right to
refuse on the grounds of PDL swarming with Press and sightseersIMO

sorry for the delay, been catching up with e-mails.
Yes, JT did say that, but it was before the interviews when I suspect her “sighting” was
questioned, and before there was any suggestion of a reconstruction!!!

Isn’t the bedrock of modern justice the fact that ‘you don’t have to say anything’ ?

As I noted a few days ago, we have provisions which force people to give evidence, even if that evidence would incriminate them.
It is, of course, in limited circumstances; the welfare of a child.
Perhaps Portugual should consider introducing similar legislation…

I was going to mention the ”kagool” but decided against it as I thought that would just rub salt into the already exposed wound!
May 25th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
so what would the questions be that they allegedly didn’t answer? the ones that resulted in them being made arguidos?
If they could have answered vaguely what could the questions have been? I can’t even think of any………..
May 25th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
The question is, does arguido status breach European Law.
ARTICLE 25
The Commission may receive petitions addressed to the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe from any person, non- governmental organization or group of individuals claiming to the victim of a violation by one of the High Contracting Parties of the rights set forth in this Convention, provided that the High Contracting Party against which the complaint has been lodged has declared that it recognizes the competence of the Commission to receive such petitions. Those of the High Contracting Parties who t)ve made such a declaration undertake not to hinder in any way the effective exercise of this right.
Such declarations may be made for a specific period.
The declarations shall be deposited with the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe who shall transmit copies thereof to the High Contracting Parties and publish them.
The Commission shall only exercise the powers provided for in this article when at least six High Contracting Parties are bound by declarations made in accordance with the preceding paragraphs.
ARTICLE 26
The Commission may only deal with the matter after all domestic remedies have been exhausted, according to the generally recognized rules of international law, and within a period of six months from the date on which the final decision was taken.

May 25th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
The PJ know the McCanns quite well.
Probably they felt they would not gate any answer, any way.
“I don’t remember”I don’t know”I did do see it” those are answers as well
May 25th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Gloria S
Really wanted to give you good news.
Anyway I find that the forecasts are generally wrong…………..says she walking slowly backwards.
May 25th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
So if witnesses are obliged to answer the questions, what is the punishment for not answering? to be made an arguido whereby you don’t have to answer?
and what constitutes an answer?
Surely ‘I don’t know’ ‘I can’t remember’ ‘it wasn’t me’ ‘nothing’ etc etc are answers?
Isn’t the bedrock of modern justice the fact that ‘you don’t have to say anything’ ?
Any Portugese law specialist out there? I’m really curious as to interpretation..
