MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
SAY the McCanns: “We strongly support and encourage this new initiative to use Facebook to increase awareness of missing children.”
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you will know that children go missing.
Although not if you’re watching the TV news of reading the newspapers because Madeleine McCann is no longer in the mass media.
But the campaign has not been in vain. She is on a press release.
And the better news is that no children have gone missing in the past few weeks. We look through the mainstream press every day. It’s a fact. But what of life on the internet?
The statement goes on: “Using the power of social media in this way will undoubtedly capture the attention - and hopefully the help - of a younger population who are a hugely valuable and resourceful group.
“We would urge the millions of Facebook users around the world to keep looking and to do what they can to help bring these children home.”
Missing People has set up a widget for Facebook users to download, which will mean information on current appeals will be displayed on their homepage.
Says missing People Chief Executive Paul Tuohy: “If every Facebook user downloaded our BT-powered application, millions of people internationally could see an appeal that could help us to reunite a family.”
Because BT cares…

If the bumbling PJ had any hard evidence that the McCanns were involved in anything at all to do with the disappearance of their daughter then the PJ would have them back to Portugal and arrested.
Instead we have the PJ ‘asking’ for the McCanns to return to recreate the events of that night so the sardine munchers can (for the first time) get to grips with what actually happened leading up to Madeleine disappearing. imo naturalmente

You know chenier I have always wondered that as well, why don’t the Portuguese issue or request an arrest warrant for the McCanns.
—————————————————–
Because they are still investigating.
I appreciate that the McCanns may have some difficulty in grasping the concept of evidence based investigations, but the judiciary don’t. And forensics take time, though it would be nice if the FSS could improve on the 14 months they took in Huntley’s case.

they got so used to non investigating ‘journalists’. that the PJ investigating them bit them in the bum. They canot understand it at all.
they just demand to see what the Pj have in their files. they do not understand that everything cannot just be back-fitted to suit their version(s_) of things.

Having spent some time looking back at the very early days I have finally answered, at least to my own satisfaction, the riddle of why Teflon Tony was so happy to provide the Mccanns with spin merchants and as much media hype as he could manage; it was a perfect way of burying the Browne scandal under a deluge of sickly sweet sentimental publicity.
If the McCanns looked like manna from heaven to him then equally Teflon Tony looked like manna from the heavens to the McCanns.
And now they don’t have anyone with political power to protect them from nasty questions…

I think its more a case of all that evidence the Pj have got locked up that they are too embarrased for the McCanns to see………
Anyway, even if it is locked up, chances are the PJ have lost the key anyway…….

Mod Adm.
a witness who refuses to show up can not be declared arguido only because he did not show up.
He may pay money for his refusing or the police can pick him up to show up at the police station.(Portugal)
A person who is suspect to cooperate with a criminal can be involved in a crime and on this case he could also be official suspect.

Yes, the president decided that while Rome was burning it would be a good thing if he issued a statement explaining the precise definition of xenophobia, and discussing whether the current problems were actually that.
All really helpful stuff to those being burnt alive and having their homes and businesses destroyed.
The guy has become a complete lame duck, but you really have to wonder whether the violence isn’t being instigated to drive for an early departure for him?
I suspect that there is a race on between the possible future president getting hauled up on corruption charges before he gets into power and squashes it all.

I was thinking more along the lines of the PJ have to make the case, Caplan need do nothing until he feels he needs to, which may be never.

But that doesn’t explain Caplan’s failure to whoosh-clunk his clients through the ECHR, since his application would be purely on the principle of whether arguido status is a breach of human rights.
Admittedly, they can’t go to the ECHR until they have pursued the legal process through all the available remedies, but since you claim for unspecified reasons that this doesn’t apply to people like the McCanns that still leaves the question of why wonderboy hasn’t sprung them from durance vile…

The individual who posted under the name Gandolf had some interesting points to make and added to the debate on the site. However, he was grossly abusive to a moderator and that behaviour will not be tolerated. The option is open for him to apologise to the Moderator concerned (we understand that sometimes tempers get frayed and things are said which are later regretted) and the situation will be reviewed.
He could, of course, attempt to fool the Moderators and post under a new identitiy, using a different email address and IP No. However, it is not so easy to disguise one’s style of writing, grammatical construction of sentences , expression used, etc. In such circumstances, we will generally give the poster the benefit of the doubt but keep a wary eye on their posts.
