Find Madeleine McCann On Facebook
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
SAY the McCanns: “We strongly support and encourage this new initiative to use Facebook to increase awareness of missing children.”
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you will know that children go missing.
Although not if you’re watching the TV news of reading the newspapers because Madeleine McCann is no longer in the mass media.
But the campaign has not been in vain. She is on a press release.
And the better news is that no children have gone missing in the past few weeks. We look through the mainstream press every day. It’s a fact. But what of life on the internet?
The statement goes on: “Using the power of social media in this way will undoubtedly capture the attention - and hopefully the help - of a younger population who are a hugely valuable and resourceful group.
“We would urge the millions of Facebook users around the world to keep looking and to do what they can to help bring these children home.”
Missing People has set up a widget for Facebook users to download, which will mean information on current appeals will be displayed on their homepage.
Says missing People Chief Executive Paul Tuohy: “If every Facebook user downloaded our BT-powered application, millions of people internationally could see an appeal that could help us to reunite a family.”
Because BT cares…

Thanks, Val, for the CNN article.
You always provide us with interesting stuff to read.

By the way, I’m a Brazilian.

I think only three of them actually went back. Was it Payne, O’B and Rachel Oldfield?
Of course, the Mcs themselves stayed for months. Murat was there all the time.
So were the most of the MW staff, one assumes.
Of course, the other friends could only be made arguidos now under the new law……which requires evidence before someone can be accorded that status. (Good to see the Portuguese amending their laws in line with greater democracy, respect for human rights etc. Several of their lawyers have been pressing for this for some time. And NO! I am not saying that everything in the English judicial garden is rosy.) The requirement for evidence might just present a difficulty. Don’t know. Evidence wasn’t a requirement when Murat and both Mcs were made arguidos. A hunch would do, it seems, IMO, based on what their Portuguese lawyer and others, have said. Only my opinion. Don’t know if that was relevant or not but questions were raised as to whether or not the Mcs could even have been made arguidos under the new law.

The way in which certain posters profess blissful ignorance and faux naivity is fascinating; anyone who had bothered to read this thread would know perfectly well that we have discussed, at considerable length, the questions raised in this post.
And yet the poster, without citing any evidence at all, repeats the claims which have just been debated at length, and dismissed on the grounds that there is no grounds to support them.
So come on Maria; break the habits of a posting lifetime and provide some evidence…

I daresay…when the Judge…upon reviewing the case…and Authorising
the extension(s) of the Arguidoships…would be very aware of his Legal
Rights in the matter.

Val… CNN is available here. I watch it most days both on TV and online as I’m sure many others do.

Mods and Admin
I don”t know how the items got in the post, I thought I was only posting the CNN
article!!!!!!Can you delete the rest and just show the CNN one, which since it is an
American News channel would not have been shown here.
M and A
Its ok as it is done, got distracted between the links and editing it again , and I can get CNN too. Sometimes when you paste and copy it covers the entire item not just a little bit

I didn’t challenge the strategic acumen of the T9 in refusing to attend the reconstruction…
I just commented on the fact that IMO a meaningful outcome of this case will be dependent on the reconstruction. Unfortunately.

Meeting the McCanns
Posted: 1646 GMT
LONDON, England – “Five minutes,” says a clipboard-carrying assistant, sticking a head around the door, before adding tellingly: “A showbiz five minutes.”
The McCanns have launched a 48-hour media blitz in a fresh bid for information about their missing daughter.
Waiting to interview the McCanns these days is to bear witness to a well-drilled media circus: a luxury suite in a London hotel; trays of croissants, pastries and jugs of coffee; a revolving cast of journalists asking variations of the same questions.
“The doctors will see you now,” the same assistant quips as three more reporters shuffle through. It is a setting and a schedule tailored to the whims of film stars or musicians, in town to promote a summer blockbuster or a brand new album.
Of course Kate and Gerry McCann - both medical doctors — have nothing to sell. They are here to raise awareness about the ongoing campaign to find their missing daughter, Madeleine, who vanished without trace from a Portuguese beach resort during a family holiday a year ago this Saturday.
The McCanns have been criticized in some quarters for using the media to raise awareness about Madeleine’s disappearance, notably since they were named by Portuguese police as formal suspects, or “arguidos” in the case.
That criticism has clearly hurt. They are defensive about their use of the media, arguing that for 99 percent of the time they try to lead a normal family life, focusing their energies on their young twins, Madeleine’s younger brother and sister.
This 48-hour blitz has been carefully planned, they say, to capitalize on the inevitable coverage that the anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance would have generated. Kate admits that her daughter has become iconic of the plight of missing children over the past 12 months.
Twelve months since they first stepped in front of the full glare of the world’s media, the McCanns appear relaxed and comfortable in front of a camera. Articulate and composed, the couple naturally pick up each other’s sentences and thoughts. They have sacrificed “normal life” in the belief that their daughter is still out there, waiting to be found.
“This is not about Kate and Gerry McCann,” Kate says. “This is about Madeleine.”
If the emotions of the case are still raw, it is hard to tell.

Specially as the recon will probably prove nothing-apart from no-one got timelines exactly right.
Just going to run for cover.

But…everyone is supportive to them all….an employer who transgressed
that status would be seen to be a very nasty employer indeed…..and in the
full glare of publicity too.
Nope….employment issues don’t register…when attemoting to know what
may have happened to a three year old child.

P Green….and/or any of the other Millionaire “supporter’s” should soon
see to it….for the sake of Madeleine, of course…that a flight…to and from
…with all costs covered….work absence sorted….would ensure that the least
time possible away from their various “responsibilities” is guaranteed.
After all…..they all want to know what may have happened to Madeleine.
Don’t they ?

Regrettably, the answer appears to be no.
However we can look forward to Team McCann’s ongoing tissue of prevarication and obfuscation being brought to us on a regular basis…

of being involved in MM’s “disappearance”.

Salomon ES
If pressing charges only depends on a re-construction, it means the evidence isn’t strong enough, anyway, IMO.
It certainly is necessary for the police to complete their investigation and understand why the witnesses’statements don’t fit. The re-construction would help. But understanding where the problem lies doesn’t mean being able to press charges.
I think that when the files are open, it will probably appear that the abduction theory doesn’t hold much, and that the friends and family of the missing girl know more than they say. But also that the PJ don’t have the means to say what happened exactly neither to incriminate anyone.
I also think that at during re-construction, it could happen that none of the witnesses change their statement. It would then only bring point out the contradictions -if any. The witnesses’ refusal to attend will just show how reluctant they are to help solve the case. But apparently, it is a a small inconvenient for them, compared to what could happened if they did help - Unless we believe them when they are afraid it might upset the mother, and it is difficult to get a leave from their jobs, and a re-construction might not be useful.
