Madeleine McCann: Bobby Hands, Cannes And A Hunger For Publicity
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
As Leslie Felperin, the excellent reviewer for Variety magazine remarked to me: the newspaper-reading public can’t be persuaded to react in the same way: they care about Madeleine McCann in a serious mood, or in a non-serious mood, they care about Sir Alan Sugar or Simon Cowell. The idea of actually caring about a violent arthouse film investigating the life of Bobby Sands is a very tall order indeed.

It wasn’t the abductor who was lying in the road,
It was Tanner who was lying, - in the road.

Val - there could be a loop hole in the law - maybe, and I dont know, but maybe the “arguidos” status can only be implimented actually in Portugal. We do not have the same “suspect” status in the UK - we bang em up for questioning, hold em until they either confess or the police think that they have a case - and only then are they let go. Maybe they all knew this and that is why the police had to come to the UK and they did not go back to Portugal. Who knows! it is all sooooooo very complicated.

Perhaps the recon was suggested knowing some would not attend!!! I would imagine
the Tapas 7 own Lawyers would notify the PJ of their Clients decision, which I am sure
they have done by now. Maybe the ones that refuse are more important to the PJ.
In any case, CM has no right to speak for them all, he is employed for the McCanns
only, and should butt our IMO

I took Rasputin’s reference to “arguidohell” to mean the site we are not allowed to mention, and there is a thread on there by someone called The Pink Panther regarding that article.
There could be some truth in it, in that there was a long gap before Eddie and Keela arrived, some rumours have it the flat was re-let in the interim which would be pretty mind boggling if true.

How could you tell if a door is locked or not by looking at it from a distance? You couldnt could you?
My point is that observations may have been made from an apartment opposite/adjacent/across the firkin road or whatever you want to call it. And by keeping check on the evening routine of the McCanns they would have had the opportunity to check the patio doors themselves and thus make their snatch when they did.
May 27th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
The BBC do seem to do this without any real reason - maybe to free up space when the photos are a few days old - I wouldn t think it significant other than maybe the McCs requested its removal because it was not particularly flattering

“”"Kate McCann believes that if she weighed more and had bigger breasts that the public would be more sympathetic to her. Madeleine’s grandmother, Susan Healy, apparently explained that, “Kate said last night ‘If I weighed another two stone, had a bigger bosom and looked more maternal, people would be more sympathetic.” In her interview with the Liverpool Post, Healy defended Kate’s weight by saying, “Kate has always had that kind of build and has never carried any weight. But she does look very traumatised”"”" (daily mail, oct 16th)
======
see, if you put 2 stone on and have a boob job, you’ll get more sympathy

All the speculation that the Tapas 7 were deliberately refusing to go to the recon, as
quoted by CM was to protect the McCanns is rubbish, they too could be made
arguidos as you say.
A couple of things puzzle me, why have the PJ waited so long to ask for a recon, and
when the Tapas 7 were questioned in Leicester, why were”t they made arguidos then?
This would have meant that they all would have had to attend, so maybe the PJ slipped
up there.

I’m most certainly not going to discuss her opinion on your post[s] or the other way around. Do you have that expression too like “when two dogs fight, don’t come near or in between”?
But I do think you’re not trying to find excuses for them, in case they did it, although you also pointed out [if I’m not mistaken] that a cover up of an accident is not the most hideous crime in the world.
What I was referring to was her stand on the McCanns, whether she thinks they are guilty of something more serious then irresponsible/neglectful behaviour [which by itself is serious enough in this case].
——————————————————-
I’ve been trying to think of the English parallel with 2 dogs fighting without success, but I entirely take your point
And you are perfectly correct; I do not regard covering up an accidental death as the most hideous crime in the world. Senator Edward Kennedy attempted to do it, failed, lost his chance at the Presidency and then went on to make a contribution to the life of his country…

You seem to be missing the point…………. but then that is understandable. Why would you need to see the patio doors?

Nope Garthy, you seem to be missing MY point (but then that’s also understandable in your haste to walk the kitty). You were the one that claimed as follows :

We do know that the patio doors were unlocked. This may well have been apparent to the abductor/s had they observed the apartment from the ones opposite ……….

Yes, I think the McCanns must be very worried now, but to my mind they have brought this on themselves, hampering the investigation, using their own Detective
agency etc, all the so called sightings the PJ have had to follow up.
I just hope the Portugese Prosecutor doesn”t decide there is no case to answer!!!!!!
May 27th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
tapas,
if it still the same, it is canapés, not a big meal, little sandwiches, toasts, etc.
Not really a restaurant. That’s why they call it bar.

I can just remember thinking that she looked a bit fuller around the middle - I would think - but cant remember - that Gerry would have his firmly tucked into his trousers!! Whoops, well you know what I mean
May 27th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
Well the bottom line is that the majority of the Tapas lot were guilty of leaving their kids unattended - one of them actually said that their child was sick - and still they left them - after half an hour and a “change of sicky bedsheet” So with all the speculation and insistance that the Mcs could be arrested for neglect - then a trip back to Portugal could result in all 7 of them in the clink
M and A
One of the parents did stay with a sick child for a while, this is what made me think of MM choking, there could have been a bug among the children, and more than one vomitting, and it struck me as strange that doctors wouldn’t be concerned…

can you remember if the wind was doing the same to Gerry’s shirt?

I think the whole point of the recon is to establish the timelines, so if Murat was indoors, how could he have been seen by 3 of the Tapas 7? I think the PJ have a
problem with anyone seeing Madeleine for a six hour period on 3rd May, so this
will be part of the recon as well. Murat translating on 4th has no relevance.
Somehow, I don”t think the recon will take place now, not necessarily out of loyalty,
but because the Tapas 7 have a lot to answer for and are afraid THEY will be made
arguidos too.

Sadly….very true.
May 27th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
Mara - it was the pair walking along hand in hand - full length photo - they both had white shirts on. It was not a particularly significant photo as far as the situation, but the angle was slightly sideways - maybe it was the wind or hot air blowing up the shirt giving the impression of some weight gain

I did try to post the link to the full article….but it …just “disappeared” into
the freezing wasteland of Anorakia.
I could report it…but I am hesitant about being melodramatic and insisting
that it was Abducted/Kidnapped….after all…it might have just got lost.

Garth has a tendency - as do the McCanns to change their minds. One minute - going - next minute back, off because the “heat” is getting to you then back because someone threw you a bucket of ice. The similarities are incredible
