Madeleine McCann: Bobby Hands, Cannes And A Hunger For Publicity
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
As Leslie Felperin, the excellent reviewer for Variety magazine remarked to me: the newspaper-reading public can’t be persuaded to react in the same way: they care about Madeleine McCann in a serious mood, or in a non-serious mood, they care about Sir Alan Sugar or Simon Cowell. The idea of actually caring about a violent arthouse film investigating the life of Bobby Sands is a very tall order indeed.

from the amount of time he’s spent since january appearing on telly and swanning about i find it hard to see how he can be working “full time”
unless full time for him is 20 hours a week
and i wonder just how many patients refused to let him near them
we should be told

Sorry for delay the computer is playing up so I shut down for a while.
To reply to your point, actually Garth it was not the PJ who Kate told about Madeleine
crying. If you remember CM blamed the Pj for leaking the info, but the PJ retaliated
saying it wasn”t them, this item was not even in Kate”s statement and they even threatened to sue CM I think…

Val
How do you know it wasnt in Kates origInal statement to the PJ?

Ah, yes! Or no!!
May 27th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Sorry. That was the Daily Mail
Another report in the same paper said he had gone back to work with the approval of the GMC. I could give the exact quote if anyone wanted it.
The worry was that his mind might be preoccupied and that therefore he would begin with academic work, working with MRI scans etc. and have limited contact with patients before later (January, I think) going back to full-time work.
No charges have been brought so it would, I suppose, be difficult for his employers not to have back at work. But, I’d be interested to have any links, ade.

ade, can you tell me how you know GM is not working with patients? I’d be interested to see any info you have. This is one of many reports from last Dec. Did it not happen? I understood that it did but I may have missed something. Thanks.

Gerry McCann has begun working directly with hospital patients as he prepares to return to full-time hours, it was revealed yesterday.
The consultant cardiologist will resume working full-time in January after completing two months of part-time work at Leicester’s Glenfield Hospital.
Return: Gerry McCann has been working part-time for the last six months, but come Janaury he will return to full-time hours dealing directly with patients
He has already begun discussing MRI scan results with patients and is expected to return to full-time clinical care in the New Year.
The £75,000-a-year consultant initially had ‘limited contact’ with patients and divided his time between assessing MRI scans and research for the British Heart Foundation.
Mr McCann, 39, agreed with hospital bosses that he will respect the wishes of any patient who does not want to be under his care.
McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “Gerry has already begun seeing patients and will go back to work full-time in January.” ‘

Some patients were quoted in the papers as being worried that his mind would be on Madeleine and not on the job. I thought he had gone back to full time work last January???

Portugal has a tough group (with Switzerland, Czechia and Turkey). So better shelve the case before June 15.

i suppose if the oil refinery blockade goes ahead the wretches will have an excuse why they can’t go to the airport.
but they will have to cut down on the number of “creche runs” to dump off the twins too
what fun

I thought at one time CM was no longer acting for the McCanns and had taken up
Public Speaking!!!!! why the McCanns need a PR guy now is beyond me, they were
more than happy to appear on every TV channel they could and can do thier own
talking nowIMO
———————————————————————
I think part of it was the embarrassment of the ‘gloves off’ farce, and part down to the Mccanns not wanting to to look as if they were PR pros.
Judging from the CNN comment you provided they didn’t wholly succeed in their aim.
And Clarrie really should have reminded them not to start making jokes before they were out of sight of cameras…

Hi there, how are you?
So many “regulars not “posting at the moment, they will all come drifting back I suppose when something definite is decided about this case. It was meant to be August
when a decision must be made but there is a rumour it could be July because August
is a bad month because of Holidays. We shall see.

That was the moment when Clarrie announced he was going to take the gloves off, and then developed a severe case of laryngitis when the PJ punched him in the throat, sorry, issued a formal denial, and the professional association made noises about legal action for defamation.
All in all, not his finest hour…

Sorry for delay in replying just catching up.
All the evidence that Madeliene is no longer alive is circumstantial, not that I think
Madeleine is alive, but it is what you can prove beyond reasonable doubt. without a body this is very very difficult, so I think the PJ might settle for Negligence causing
harm which to me is much easier to prove
May 27th, 2008 at 8:25 pm

Sorry for delay, trying to catch up.
Seemingly DW was with the 10th man, who beat a hasty retreat in his plane when
Madeleine was reported missing. If true this could be the reason she doesn”t want a
recon . Possibly she feels there is no need for her to attend since she did not have any
young children to worry about.

Assuming it’s true [and not merely an internet rumour] I’d say I agree!
