Madeleine McCann: Bobby Hands, Cannes And A Hunger For Publicity
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
As Leslie Felperin, the excellent reviewer for Variety magazine remarked to me: the newspaper-reading public can’t be persuaded to react in the same way: they care about Madeleine McCann in a serious mood, or in a non-serious mood, they care about Sir Alan Sugar or Simon Cowell. The idea of actually caring about a violent arthouse film investigating the life of Bobby Sands is a very tall order indeed.

I agree with you, can”t understand why they left it so late. Anyway, the McCanns
wanted a recon like Crimewatch where actors are used and it is televised. The PJ way
is a recon without Cameras and the genuine people involved, not actors. My guess is
it was just to confirm timelines and would only involve the parties involved directly
and OC Staff, with perhaps a few material witnesses like Jes Wilkins and his wife.
Perhaps the 4 who have refused to go have something to hide, would it have hurt so much otherwise to take partout of respect to Madeleine?
By the way, did I see the name Gandolf earlier on?

Hi C&C. Yes, guilty as charged. I bet I’m still messing up the numbers. This post of yours is it on your screen numbered 349 by any chance?
Ah and Amsterdam, depends on what they’ve been doing and where they stayed over there.

If the PJ announced tomorrow that they would (grant their wishes?) televise it, I am 103% sure that excuses would be found in order to not comply…again!
May 27th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
If the PJ do not charge the Drs McCann with child neglect, does that make it OK to leave very small children alone at night (for hours at a time) in an unlocked house while you dine & wine elsewhere?
May 27th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Good evening.
So, the recon won’t happen then. Well there’s a surprise.

Oh, I did read Ferdie’s post!! I just wondered on what you based your comment…….?
But maybe it was just “satire” or crystal-ball gazing or hoping?
I just wondered if there was any substance in it…….
Of course, if GM is charged with child neglect, it may well become a reality.

Doctors often do research…….the top ones all the time……..but still retain contact with patients AND may also have to teach if in a teaching hospital. And the poor things get such a pittance as well………!!!!
I don’t know about GM, mind you.

I’m only a man. I’m not very good at multi-tasking I’m trying to watch the tele, watch Anorak, keep 2 dogs amused, and pretend I’m listening to what Mrs D is saying. I can’t type fast enough to keep up with all these comments that are flying around. Luckily other posters know the stipulation about quoting sources and are quick to jump in and assist the mods.
Thanks, guys !!!

Amazing!
The PJ refused a request by the McCanns for a reconstruction back in the early days of this investigation because it wasnt the way they went about their investigations.
Yet the PJ have now requested them to return for a reconstruction which( and quite rightly so imo) the friends are refusing to do. Of course, if it were televised then they would return because they know the benefit would be in the hope of new witnesses coming forward.
So the PJ have changed their minds regarding a reconstruction but dont want it publicised .
Why not? Afterall, we are reminded by so many on this forum that the PJ want to find out what happend to Madeleine. Do they really? Im not so sure that is the case.
And for a couple to request a reconstruction to be televised (so that the whole world can see how the time lines work as they have s tated) does not sound like parents implicit in her disappearance and a cover up.
I think the PJ should allow the request by the McCanns for it to be publicised here on British television so this case can move forward. Afterall, what have the Pj got to worry about?
I wonder? Not!

Gerry won a research Grant for £600,000 I think from the British Heart Foundation,
he actually was in OC when he heard!!!!! Anyway, I saw an Application form about
3 weeks ago asking for a Research assistant , salary circa £41/£48,ooo to work
with Dr G.McCann, at Glenfields Hospital so he is alright financially for a while and not in contact with Patients.
May 27th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
362-I was wondering the same-does anyone know that he is not working full-time and treating patients or is it speculation. I would be interested to know as I haven’t a clue.

Has the GMC imposed a “patient-free sabbatical” (!!) on GM? I feel I’ve missed stuff here. I thought the man was working perfectly normally but with some leave eg. for the visit to Brussels and the interviews in the anniversary week.
Or do you know that the GMC is going to impose such a sabbatical on him?
Where’s all this info coming from?

his 150k poxy research grant would cover one year of his salary (75k plus ni overheads of 20%) plus a research assistant plus travel plus equipment - and only just
hardy a posh sabbatical
stick to the slush fund would be my advice

Rocinante arrived home this morning looking decidedly the worse for wear. No amount of Polo mints could disguise the distinct smell of cabernet sauvignon.

proper full time consultants do not have time to appear on telly and swan around doing photo opportunities.
they do 60 or 70 hours a week
in the hospital
20 is probably a high estimate
but i suggest you call the hospital and see if they’ve seen him lately
kate hamble’s tits are much more interesting

Because the PJ , for the first time after all the stick they have taken replied and
threatened to sue CM, and I saw a post later saying there had been a “leak” at Hogan
International Offices. Admittedly there were “leaks ” from Amaral and co in the
beginning and that was one reason why Rebelo took charge, but not a whisper since.

Oh OK.
Could easily phone Glenfield Hospital. I might do so.
Very generous with compassionate leave, the NHS!
I think it’s a bit of an assumption that he’s not “allowed ” near patients!
We should be told, but is it quite fair to assume, without a source?
