Madeleine McCann: Bobby Hands, Cannes And A Hunger For Publicity
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
As Leslie Felperin, the excellent reviewer for Variety magazine remarked to me: the newspaper-reading public can’t be persuaded to react in the same way: they care about Madeleine McCann in a serious mood, or in a non-serious mood, they care about Sir Alan Sugar or Simon Cowell. The idea of actually caring about a violent arthouse film investigating the life of Bobby Sands is a very tall order indeed.

Come to think about that, it was written in the papers, but we’ve seen plenty of examples that they’ve got it wrong. So we can’t be sure he’s written it I think.

From the Daily Mail 29th Oct.
“Mr McCann is returning to work with the approval of the General Medical Council which regulates the medical profession.”
Same article has lots of comments. I’ll find one or two relevant ones.

I don’t really think it matters much who refused as it seems, to me, a set up since they knew that they all had to return for it to go ahead. Pick any….? Doesn’t matter as the goal has been achieved?
For now?
I think the PJ should call their bluff & request them to return anyway.
That would put the cat amongst the pigeons? True colours?

Ikea does it all. Gorm. Not really beautiful, but it’s in the cellar, so who cares?
Afraid though when unpacking the bottles from the boxes many won’t make it to the rack.

You’re not the only one…
And I’m sure it interests the PJ too [though, of course, they know] as it may give some indications as to … WHO [and maybe why, how and when?]

‘Gerry”s salary at Glenfields was £75,000 plus his private work, so he would hardly work for much less and the Research assistant would not have been a Junior for that
kind of Salary.’
i cant’ comment as i don’t know what band or qualifications the research assistant would have to have, perhaps a medical research assistant would come in a higher band than an ordinary research assistant/graduate, i don’t know.
‘ I definitely posted the application form on here because I pointed out
a clause saying the Applicant should not have been accused of any crime (not the exact words)!! If you can find Gerry”s blog or something, you might find it there.’
i haven’;t read it here, but i do take time out, do not follow it slavishly. re the crime thing that’s normal for people who may come in contact with vulnerable people.
‘I distinctly remember reading he had been working every evening and weekend and
he only knew he had won while they were on holiday.’
yes, i read that too on the mccann files which has a copy of the times article written by david smith. why would gerry advertise for his research assistant privately on his blog i don’t understand, you say i should look there ?

I agree, there’s not much official information. And we can’t be sure if Clarrie’s telling the truth. I agree on first sight it doesn’t look wise to refuse to participate in the reconstruction. On the other hand… WHY and WHOm did refuse? That’s what I’d like to know.

There is no such thing as a100% DNA match, and the results are never described as percentages.

That’s funny. Yes you mentioned before [last week?] that in the UK the investigation is less secretive, and when charges are brought the prosecutor doesn’t inform the defence lawyer beforehand of the evidence but presents things at trial. I recall I asked you something about that.
In my country the police has to ask permission [of a judge] before requesting the provider to submit the records. That’s why the government is forcing them [the providers] to store a lot of information about their clients for a certain period.
In this case it’s not about presenting the cell phone records, it’s about wether the providers should give the police CD’s/DVD’s of the calls/sms/mms. AND it’s [I think] about whether if they’ve got it already it’s not obtained in an illegal way.
Portuguese law, the police/pj should have known how to obtain information in a legal way.

Reluctant they certainly are - THEY ARE NOT GOING BACK - the Sky news report has confirmed that they have ALL refused to go back to Portugal including the Mcs.

Also just seen your reply. I’ll try to find the quotes. Didn’t want to put in too much, that’s all.
The quote about going back to work came from a different report. Will look again now!

My kids had the stupid new fangled system in the 80’s. The kids had to learn words every day, just looking & memorising them. No alphabet at all! How on earth were they supposed to read a book/phrase properly when they came across a word that they hadn’t learnt?
Stupid!
Now I think the schools have gone back to the tried & tested ways of centuries gone by. Thank God.
In my book if it aint bust don’t fix it!

So the lot - all Tapas lot of them - have decided not to go back to Portugal . That says it all as far as I am concerned. I hope they throw the book at the lot of them for child neglect.
