A source says: “They were asked informally to return, then asked again in an official letter last week. After some consideration they decided not to go back. They were concerned it would not be televised, and were bemused as to why it was happening so long after Madeleine disappeared.”
And who would play Madeleine? Her? Her? What about “Look Into My Eyes”, a TV talent show search for a Madeleine fronted by Trevor McDonald and GMTV?
Remember Kelsey: “Mummy, I could play Madeleine. I look just like her’”?

What does Lorraine Kelly think? It was she who said:
How could someone put their infant child forward as a Madeleine lookalike with the idea of making money? The child obviously has to be around the same age as Madeleine.
Is a Madeleine needed? After all, she is missing…
Unless it was to specifically aid the campaign, how could they all live with themselves for making money out of the tragic disappearance of a little girl?
It makes you recoil to think a lookalike agency would have a Madeleine on their books alongside someone who looks like Jack Nicholson or Paris Hilton.
Disgusting! To think that Maddy should be with the likes of Jack the lads or Hilton makes our flesh turn cold. It’s nothing less than sick.
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine reconstruction scrapped after ’suspicious’ McCanns refuse to return to Portugal to take part”
The Mail has the details: The McCanns are “both doctors.”
Says a Source: “They also question why it was not to be televised and why police just want the nine and not other holidaymakers and staff to take part.”
GLASGOW DAILY RECORD: Says Clarence Mitchell:
“The friends had a number of serious questions about the value of the reconstruction and what it would do to help find Madeleine. After some discussion, they have informed the Portuguese authorities they do not intend to go back.
“Gerry and Kate have not refused to go back. They were aware of their friends’ view and they are now not needed for the reconstruction. There were a number of serious questions. For instance, why did they want to hold a reconstruction more than a year after the event?
“Why was the reconstruction not to be televised? That would have generated new leads and information but if it is not televised, how on earth is that going to help find Madeleine? Why did they only want the nine people back? Why didn’t they ask all the other holidaymakers back?
“Frankly, the police and the authorities in Portugal did not answer the simple question: what will this do to help find Madeleine?”
Do the police have to televise their police work to make it valid?

Change of Company Name

The Logo is also changed and should now read
“LOOK for Madeleine - but not very hard”

Have time to play tennis on the exact same courts where her dad did the day after she disappeared.
“Have time to ponder whether she died or was abducted” right there in the centre of it all.
Very Very morbid place to take a holiday.

I think it depends on how much history you are used to.
When I go to church I make a vague effort to avoid treading on Milton, when I visit Barts I ignore the many thousands of people tortured to death outside, and when I sit in the garden I don’t bother about the fact that it used to be a plague pit.

Can anyone here see Robert Murat risking his freedom by upsetting the PJ by posting openly on an internet forum and breaking the secrecy laws? Not a chance. He lives in Portugal for heavens sake.
Last time 3a’s tried that ploy it was along the lines of… someone boasted they had gone to PDL and spoken to Robert Murat and asked him to post his opinions of the McCanns etc. He agreed (yeah right) to post at 6pm.
then it went pear shaped…. (yawn) the poster was allegedly a little attention seeking fibber.

Flights included = better deal.
However if you assume that £100 (ish) is the flight then that leaves £285 for the apartment (& whatever food involved)….per person. Even if only 2 people go then it’s £ 570.(for the apartment) Or 4 people = £1140.
I bet the apartment owner would only see around £150 ish of that!

Dee… well I’d go back again. Friends have a villa there and they have just returned after four months and all is calm and normal. They were there for the aniversary service.

Perhaps we didn’t see the same thread; it consisted of one post allegedly from Murat explaining that he couldn’t post because of the secrecy laws, and then some posts of reverent appreciation, followed by the thread being locked.
And then threats of mass expulsions, abusive language flying in all directions, admin trying simultaneously to be lovable and in charge, failing totally on both counts; all in all, a lot of fun!

‘Yeah maybe some people could relax, but myself? no way, all i would think of is the pics of maddie sitting by the pool, or the tapas bar over and over again, the whole resort has been pictured in every paper all over the world for all the wrong reasons, there will be a hell of a lot of people out there that felt the same, especially when there are so many other places to go to.

possibly yes, i’ve just been making making myself more miserable (it’s raining here as well) by reading the skynews, especially this bit;
“They felt that there would only be a good reason to hold such a reconstruction if it was used as a widely televised appeal for help and information.”
maddie’s disappearance has been plastered in every paper for a whole year and they would only have agreed to one if it generated more free media ? it simply doesn’t make sense.

Er, there did seem to be considerable doubt as to an alleged post from an alleged person, who may have been an arguido, but may not have been, about a month ago; it looked as if anyone who questioned the veracity of this event, or non-event, was headed for exile.
