It’s the Mirror’s “MADELEINE EXCLUSIVE”. The news is – as Anorak reported last night – that the Tapas Seven (surely the Sangria 7? –Ed) will not be returning to Portugal to take part in a reconstruction of the night Madeleine went missing.
A source says: “They were asked informally to return, then asked again in an official letter last week. After some consideration they decided not to go back. They were concerned it would not be televised, and were bemused as to why it was happening so long after Madeleine disappeared.”
And who would play Madeleine? Her? Her? What about “Look Into My Eyes”, a TV talent show search for a Madeleine fronted by Trevor McDonald and GMTV?
Remember Kelsey: “Mummy, I could play Madeleine. I look just like her’”?

What does Lorraine Kelly think? It was she who said:
How could someone put their infant child forward as a Madeleine lookalike with the idea of making money? The child obviously has to be around the same age as Madeleine.
Is a Madeleine needed? After all, she is missing…
Unless it was to specifically aid the campaign, how could they all live with themselves for making money out of the tragic disappearance of a little girl?
It makes you recoil to think a lookalike agency would have a Madeleine on their books alongside someone who looks like Jack Nicholson or Paris Hilton.
Disgusting! To think that Maddy should be with the likes of Jack the lads or Hilton makes our flesh turn cold. It’s nothing less than sick.
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine reconstruction scrapped after ’suspicious’ McCanns refuse to return to Portugal to take part”
The Mail has the details: The McCanns are “both doctors.”
Says a Source: “They also question why it was not to be televised and why police just want the nine and not other holidaymakers and staff to take part.”
GLASGOW DAILY RECORD: Says Clarence Mitchell:
“The friends had a number of serious questions about the value of the reconstruction and what it would do to help find Madeleine. After some discussion, they have informed the Portuguese authorities they do not intend to go back.
“Gerry and Kate have not refused to go back. They were aware of their friends’ view and they are now not needed for the reconstruction. There were a number of serious questions. For instance, why did they want to hold a reconstruction more than a year after the event?
“Why was the reconstruction not to be televised? That would have generated new leads and information but if it is not televised, how on earth is that going to help find Madeleine? Why did they only want the nine people back? Why didn’t they ask all the other holidaymakers back?
“Frankly, the police and the authorities in Portugal did not answer the simple question: what will this do to help find Madeleine?”
Do the police have to televise their police work to make it valid?

The prosecutor Luís Verão, in Évora, did not agree with the position of his colleague who is responsible for the Maddie case, Magalhães e Menezes, concerning the request that the latter made to the judge, to gain access to the McCanns’ mobile phone messages

I saw a photo of Gerry today at his front door receiving two Top Lawyers who
charge about £6-700 per hour. The photo was taken just after they returned from
Portugal………you wouldn”t believe the number of different Lawyers they have sought
advice from and since they can”t use the Fund for Legal fees, what are they going to
do when the Legal Fund runs out!!!!!! It was started with the £100,000 Richard
Branson contributed, maybe another couple of donors, I don”t know. Must be nearly
depleted by now.

THIS has been/is the mccanns problem :to know that the PJ knew.Instead of being intelligent,they have been refusing,denying,raging and ranting….and we can expect more,this time,even clarries minimal support will not help.
The game is over but naturally it will take them some time for them to understand it fully.
The PJ has/is been moving very swiftly and cleverly.All along

Arrogant? a proper pain in the butt imo.
The only reason to want a Crimewatch stuff was to sell it -as you said-to refill the fund and nothing else.Unfortunately for them,the PJ told them to shuffle it where you know: “we will do it in OUR terms,like it or not,come or …dont come”.
A criminal reconstruction in portugal,france,spain etc…has nothing to do with playing the celebs,like they wanted.As you correctly say,faces are not fully shown in a proper re enactement.
I am not worried in the slightest: the PJ will solve the case and justice will be made to Madeleine.
It is on its way

jo - I agree with you - I think that the refusal by the McCann lot has just fueled the pj - at least, the pj now know where they stand and they know that if there is no co-operation at this stage - then they will have to go in all guns blazing and make demands not suggestions

As I understood it, the Judge allowed mobile phone numbers to be used, but not what
was said, merely to show where each person was when the call was made/received.
This could be useful, ie the Barn, the church etc.
Maybe, just maybe, the PJ will go back to the Judge and emphasise how uncooperative
the Tapas 9 have been and the mobile phone evidence will be granted. Could you
imagine the reaction.!!!!!

I tried to find article 138 of the Judicial Code [an official source], haven’t found it yet.
The link posted in post 380 is the Penal Code. Article 138 isn’t mentioned.

I think the McCanns have been very arrogant, expecting the PJ to change their procedures, why should they? If the McCanns want a Crimewatch style recon, let them pay for it and sell it to T.V. Stations in other Countries, didn”t they sell their 2 hour Documentary to an Australian T.V. Station!!!!!!!
Apparently, with the Portugese recon, the faces of the participants are not shown full
face and only a Video recording is made for the Files.

Also the transcript mentions rather a lot of unidentifed phone messages for holiday makers.
‘Telephone number as yet unidentified which during May 2 2007 sent 14 written SMS messages to G.M. and another 4 on the day following M.M.’s disappearance’.

I just had a look at the site - and well, you know how one site leads to a bit of info and an inclination to look further. I read about John Tanner (Rachel Mclean murder) I know that there CANNOT be a connection with another Tanner, but then I reasearched and found that he was originally from New Zealand and since his release has gone back there. I KNOW that there is a N.Z connection (Gerry chasing Kate to there etc) and I know that Tanner J. probably did not have N.Z connections, and probably doesnt have a brother called John - but this internet lark does really jigger about with one’s brain cells.

I think the PJ have been very clever. They knew some of the Tapas 7 would not go to
Portugal, JT and O”B who has been off work for several months. Made it easier for
the McCanns but I”m sure something unexpected will happen.

Ah, you noticed?! Better to have offered it all the same. Not an unexpected response.
Going to be away for a few days (only for work, not hols) so will miss the bangs over the head for a while.
Might have to indulge in a bit of nun-like self-flagellation, if I miss them too much!!
I Googled Tip and Mitten (in between negligence charges, crime reconstructions in Portugal, European child alert systems) and found they were a dog and cat. Can’t wait to read more.
