IGS, Duncan’s the PC Pic WhizzKid around here.
If you’ve got the photos, let him know when you get back, and I’m sure he’ll be able to tell you how to do it, so we can all see the pics. (I’m sure June would love to see the rescued kitties as well - there’s quite a few of us here who are absolutely devoted to animals and just love stories like this)

Sorry, I meant “Glory to the largely endowed”

You could raise a fund to buy a few extra large items of underwear, and have little hippopotamus embroidered on them, with a motto, such as “Let us protect wild life”, or “Big is beautiful”, or “Gory to the largely endowed”.

I’ll see if my friends son can take some photos ,( i left my camera up in Cadiz to be upgraded on work i’m having done on my old finca there)- is there a photo site here?
I’ll give him a ring after i brave the elements outside - the place is flooded! Badly needed so no harm. The land is parched. Reservoirs running dry.
No more news on the Mcc’s or the stabbings in Surrey.
Till later…..x

Are you sure Gloria is away for 2 weeks?
It’s half term this week & she has kids……..

Aw IGS, it’s a pity you can’t take a pic of them so we can see. It’s just so heartwarming to hear stories like this where the animals are rescued, and don’t die like the evil &^^$$&* who threw them away intended them to do!

Almost everybody here that have pets are from rescue centres - or found tied up or abandoned on roads or the forest. My last cat was one of a pair left in a box outside the vets, one kitty died and my other one was run over. My present moggy was left at the roundabout and followed me home, complete with bell and chip, the owners were traced back to England! I do a bit voluntary work for rescued doggies and sometime heartbreaking. I love doggies but can’t have one because i go away quite a bit. (Update: friends little girl has brought kitty food and they are well happy - surrogate mum is well chuffed snuggled up to them).
So nice

I like your poem.
If it helps, “hippopotamus” is made with two Greek words: “horse”(hippos) and “river”(potamos). Do you think “river-horse” sounds better than “sea-cow”?

On the other hand, one of my dog circle friends saw a dog loose on the M25 at the Dartford Crossing ( a very very dangerous place) she stopped and went after it, a car hit her, she was on crutches for months after ,broke both legs and pelvis, but the dog was rescued, and it all ended well. So there are decent people around

I’m always suspicious if I see a bag on the roadway, a friend was driving along and saw one move, he stopped, and there were 4 puppies in it….
May 31st, 2008 at 10:21 am
Aw IGS you have me bawling here
Thank goodness you found them, and you are a wonderful person to have taken them home - there’s a lot of people that would have just left them there to die. Well done on you
Wish I could get my grubby paws onto people who throw animals away like this

Also sad
… went for an Indian last night; when i went to the car park i heard some kittens crying, i searched everywhere - and found them in a bag in the bushes. 3 little dotes, tiny.
They look like Russian blue. Got them home, gave them some milk and my own cat was licking them and picking them up. They all in the shed cosy, fed and warm.
How can folk do this? Why not take them to the vet or animal shelter?
Friends are going to take them - they have a farmhouse here

If “sausages” is in his vocabulary, then maybe we can come to some arrangement.
Dame Esther of Rantzen is offering to foot the bill.

My little terrier Harry is very good at convincing people, he has quite a vocabulary too, he can fib when necessary, and he doesn’t wear pink, and he doesn’t getup your nose or irritate like real PR people
May 31st, 2008 at 10:01 am
I think I may need some PR advice, does anyone know of one coming to the end of their tenure?

What about arabesque, nymph and pirouette.

My darling friends who decide when I sleep or not - especially when they’re off on a bike rally, and they do very little sleeping and loads of drinking - they find it highly amusing to SMS me every 10 minutes from about 12 pm onwards - but then again, they’re NOT normal, so I suppose this doesn’t count

Saul,
You call that bloody hippo poem grovelling? I have to go and google every second word if I want to even try and understand the FIRST verse! Poor shot
