Your gut feeling could be right [or wrong] some things do look strange.
I do hope someone gets charged and if not, someone will spitt through the files to tell us the truth. Not someone with ties to the McCanns or the PJ [like Amaral, I don't trust his book, he has an interest in the case] but by someone who’s independant.

Yep, I see your point too [as well as Fair's].
I also think it would have been best if they cooperated with the [new] investigator. Though it looks like the friends refused to go, isn’t it? And we still don’t know [for sure] which friends.

On the other hand, I also can understand [assuming they are innocent] that people who feel hurt and angry because
- it looks to them like nothing is done to find their daughter;
- the new investigator didn’t even ever speak to them [looks like he doesn't think that's necessary, think off the recent interviews, only with the friends];
- they’re suspected;
OR because they listen to the advise of their lawyers,
wouldn’t risk going to Portugal. Gerry’s job [he's earning the money now] and the twins
could become endangered if they got locked up in a cell for months and got released in the end without charges or a conviction.

i can see your point, but its their suspicious behaviour, they are now hampering the investigation, when they could bring it to a close by complying with the pj and ending all this “speculation”

I’m sorry, I’m still not convinced they had anything to do with her disappearance.
If the pj has [enough] evidence or circumstantial evidence/clues, I think they would issue an arrest warrant and the prosecutor would bring charges.
In fact I think the investigation was muddled in the [early] beginning, Amaral tried to bluff them into a confession, which approach failed, and the present investigator [Rebelo] was called in too late to correct the early mistakes. They should have investigated [and ruled out perhaps] for instance the parents from the start. Asking for instance for phone records mid September doesn’t look like professional conduct from the start imo. Very sad.

Sorry my post 603 was in reply to M&A on Scarlett’s post 509. It was refering to illegalities. Hopefully they will reply to it.
