Madeleine McCann: Blame It On Portugal And Announcing A Holiday
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann’s family to go on holiday a year after disappearance”
Somewhere nice?
Says the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “It will be incredibly painful to contemplate going away without Madeleine but this is the reality they are faced with.
“Nothing has been booked yet, but one thing’s certain – they won’t be going to Portugal.”
Obviously. Well, who would?
DAILY MIRROR:
Says a friend of the McCanns: “Everyone needs a holiday – Kate and Gerry included.
“It’s now 14 months since Madeleine was taken. Behind the scenes, there remains a lot of action to try and find her, but for Kate and Gerry life has returned as close to normality as they’re likely to get.
“After all they’ve been through, they want to give the twins a decent break to try and enjoy time as a family.”
How long until the McCanns’ destination of choice is billed as the world’s safest?

Carmen, you kindly wrote back and I understand your views, by the way, but don’t agree because I also have mine.
*********************************
I don’t consider ‘responding’ to a poster to be an act of kindness, but I suppose since you have not had the either the grace nor the wit to apologise to me for the things you said of me, nor your erroneous accusations, it could be described as ‘charitable’ at best
I see your point, but I can honestly say I don’t think the twins will have much memory of that. Yes, they should have been told their sister is missing but I doubt all the nitty gritty of what went on. More like she wandered off or however they explained her disappearance to them. I doubt if they are reading them the news, blog sites, etc. for them to know what is taking place now re speculations, etc.
*********************************
According to the parents, the twins do have many memories. They are – or at least one of them is – capable of remembering that they were crying in a foreign hotel room, perhaps disturbed by a paedophile hiding in the room, and understanding that their tears were in vain. I also doubt that they are aware of the speculation, at their parents’ request, of what might have happened to Madeleine, but then that wasn’t the issue being discussed at the time of your posting.

No, I don’t think it is cruel at all, those children can’t be ‘locked’ in that house 24/7 even that is not healthy emotionally nor physically - they need to be children, Carmen, that plain and simple. They have to live a normal life now more than ever as children to go and enjoy themselves. You say strange environment that they associate with their sister missing - we don’t know where they are taking the children - putting myself into their place I’d have them off to Disney World somewhere to laugh and have fun as all children do there.
***********************************
Nobody has suggested that the children be ‘locked’ in a house 24/7, least of all their parents for the 30 minute intervals between their alleged ‘checks’, mores the pity. I don’t understand why you are suggesting this as an alternative to their allegedly needing a ‘break’? Any environment other than their home is ‘strange’ to children at that age. Why Disneyworld – why not a day trip to Alton Towers, only just down the road from their home?
_____________________________________________________________________Once again, we have no idea where they are taking those children to, Carmen so…are you saying those children should be deprived forever of fun on a sandy beach and playing in the waves at a beach somewhere?
**********************************
Absolutely not, it would not be my style to make such an emotive statement using words such as ‘deprived forever’. I was saying that any occasion which resulted in them not sleeping soundly in their own beds should be avoided. One can play on a sandy beach in England within three hours drive of any address, particularly Rothely Towers.
_____________________________________________________________________
If their sister had been killed in a car crash, Carmen, then when they are older it would not hurt to show them a crashed car and explain for them to understand whatever reason she was killed in it.
**************************************
Nobody was discussing ‘when they are older’, the family spokesman, who I note, can’t even get their ages right, was discussing an imminent break now; my comments were in relation to that published comment.

Okay, think I have it figured out. No need to announce a family holiday unless one is pimping for the cameras.
Charges are coming, the pr people think the magic bullet is going to be some staged family photos of Madeleine McCann’s parents looking like caring parents. It’s gonna be “See Kate and Jerry playing with the kiddies… How could anyone even think of putting an end to such perfectly staged acting?”
More british silliness, except for the Madeleine being gone part…
June 4th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
There is a slight problem: Madeleine DISAPPEARED and the people called her “parents” are prime official suspects in her disappearance…..trauma,lies and ignominies, the twins have. For the rest of their lives .A FLIMSY holidays with their “loving” parents will not change this monstrous fact. They will be deprived of the truth, thats what they will lack of in their lives: the truth.

Carmen, you kindly wrote back and I understand your views, by the way, but don’t agree because I also have mine.
“The twins were two when they last went on holiday. The only experience they have of airplanes, beaches, all the paraphernalia of a foreign holiday would be of the last time they did that - and consequently the last time they saw their sister. We are told that the twins are aware that their sister is missing, they ask for her, they search for her - ipso, they will associate strange hotel rooms, unfamiliar surroundings, with their sister going missing.

Can you ever take a break from your feelings of guilt? I suppose you have to have feelings in the first place!
June 4th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
They were supposed to be going to Donegal at Easter but it didn’t happen I think. Personally I don’t begrudge them a break but why is it in the news?
I think it would do them a lot of good to take the break in Portugal.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
Carmen - You are absolutely right - The thought of taking a holiday anyway whilst still supects, quite honestly beggars belief. I really do think that this frail attempt to grab the headlines again with “something McCann” has revealed, yet again, how detached this arogant pair are from the situation. If they had anounced “That they were going to leave the twins with caring relatives and spend a week LOOKING for Madeleine - ie spending their “holiday” or time off work actually, physically LOOKING for their daughter - then maybe they would have gained just a tad credibility. But as it stands, its “Here’s a poster, keep giving us money, YOU keep on looking - and we will get our lives back to normal, much the richer thanks to the generosity of the suckers who were taken in by their “ludicrous” pleadings. Sod everybody else, let somebody else look for our kid, we deserve a break - especially after our 6 months in P de L sitting on the beach - going to the zoo - taking private jet side trips to wherever took our fancy” What a lot of ………s they all are.

The twins must be quaking in their boots at that bit of news………’ooh er, whose next Mum’.
How cruel to take them on holiday again.
________________
Why is it cruel to take them on a holiday, Carmen? One knows when a child dies or is killed, the family life has to go on as normal for the sake of the remaining children. Part of being a parent - you keep your sorrow/ feelings inside best you can and keep a normal household going for the sake of the remaining children. Or maybe my parents were abnormal in that respect putting us first when our sibling was killed and keeping our life as normal as possible.
I doubt highly the twins are quaking inside - why should they? No doubt in my mind they have gone out of their way to shield them from the preying eyes of nasty people or overhearing any nasties or news over what is going on. That time will come when they are school age and they’ll hear all the nasties and meanness from other children whose parents have gossiped, judged and condemned and they’ve learn to act just as they do and repeat what they hear and pass it on in school and will torment the twins to no end. Nothing worse than a nasty mean spoiled child who has no feelings or regards for other children’s feelings - a rather learned habit from their home!

I wonder if they will have to get permission to go wherever they intend to go from the pj? after all, I seem to remember that they were allowed back to the Uk on the understanding that they would return to Portugal whenever - at the request of the pj - which countries does not have extradition agreements with UK and Portugal - just a throught - anyway, back to the ironing board!!
June 4th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
When they’re on their hols, for those of you who munch down food before 10 in the morning, I would suggest you don’t read the papers! Mouthful of brekkie and WHAM - a beautiful pic of the happy family building sandcastles - could lead to quite a mess!

They just want to get some other headline grabbing situation - to take the heat off last week’s lot about being done for neglect. They will probably bugger off to some fabulously expensive place (courtesy of the “fund”) because it has been decided that a holiday comes under the banner of “supporting the family” - as did payment of the mortgage. I just hope Kate can muster up a new cardie - that floppy edged well washed thing she regularly has draped around her - well, makes you wonder? Maybe, like cuddle cat, it still has the “smell” of her daughter and she cant bear to leave it off - to be analysed - whoops sorry, I meant to be chucked in the rag bag.

They are insane!
Let the twins go with a ‘normal’ family member to the seaside.
June 4th, 2008 at 11:50 am
There is something illogical in excusing themselves from the reconstruction on the grounds that it would be too traumatic, and then loading up the bucket and spades, getting on a plane, and recreating the most traumatic experience of the twin’s young life for them - will the twins ever risk going to sleep on this holiday?
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
makes me wonder if they feel safe with mummy and daddy around, or not…

Hello,
So Clarrie has said that the McCanns are about to book their first holiday - since Portugal - but the location will remain a secret. Maybe they will end up with a 10 year break somewhere hot and sandy. What I would say is that How On God’s Earth will they go on hols and keep it a secret? Maybe they would be pretty anonomous on Bransons private island - maybe that is where they are heading for - private jet included? Who knows??
