King Barack Obama Is The Tabloid Dream
“HE HAS a dream,” says the Sun’s front-page headline, words illustrated by a picture of Democratic Party nominee Barack Obama, mouth agape and right hand raised to the heavens.
News is that a man called Barack Obama has been chosen to contest the leadership of a foreign country, namely the United States of America.
The Sun sees this as big news, bigger than the Express’s front-page news of “PETROL STRIKE CHAOS”, the Star’s screamer that “BIG BRO: WE WILL SCREEN LIVE SEX” and the Mirror’s news of Gazza 2008. It’s that big.
The details are that over in the US, racism – Obama is of mixed race – has given way to misogyny – Hillary Clinton is defeated. Now the fight is between Obama and the aged John McCain, and we will see if racism can be undone by ageism. The race to the White House is the ultimate equal opportunities reality TV show.
Were he alive, Sammy Davis Junior, that one-eyed, black Jew, could have stood as an independent. Although, does he need to be alive? Can a dead man be elected president of the US, or his ghost?
Back to that Sun front-page headline, and it’s picture of assassinated human rights activist Martin Luther King, who in August 1963 declared on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial: “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal’.”
The Sun sees parallels between one black man who wanted us to look beyond race and religion and another half-black man. The Sun hears the clarion call.
Do you?
Note: If the Sun can link Barack ‘Yes We Can’ Obama with Martin Luther King, why can’t it see the more obvious link between the great mixed-race hope and Bob The Builder?

I think I agree. He has actually done things. As far as I can see Clinton has merely been someone’s wife, loyal though she undoubtedly was. Can we p0int at anything she actually did.

I just think Barack is the beter person for this Job. The Americans have come so far to understand that colour or race or sex is no longer important today, but putting heads together to achieve one goal is and has always being the optimal strenght to sucessfully reaching any where. I pray God will help the Americans make the right decision, so far they are on the right way. God Bless America.

Against that, if he is elected, and calls himself black, and everyone else refers to him as black, then perhaps we shall see an end to the mantra of ‘victim status’ trotted out by black people who always want to blame someone else for their lack of success.
We shall at least have a quick one line response.

is the news correct, only heard tail end, that Hillary has decided against being vie-president. If correct, good for her. Obama can now hopefully get someone suitable.

But they do keep saying he is black, rather than of mixed race.
He lived with his mother for most of his erly life. Her name was Ann Dunham, descended from British pre-revolution settlers, with an Irish ancestor thrown in as well. I do not think the tabloids should forget that.
Not that any of it should matter anyway. They ought too be electing the best person for the job.
M and A
They showed family fotos last night on the news, his mother is white and his late father emigrated to the US, but is buried back in Africa.
BUT whoever is voted in has to be right for the job, seriously, I think first black and first woman pres candidate shouldn’t have appeared together in one party, the other side might win it by default as people hesitate over their reasons for voting
