Daily Wail: Anarchy In The UK And 2p Bangers
DAILY WAIL – headline news from the paper of doom
“NINE MEALS FROM ANARCHY” – That’s the phrase used to describe how looting and riots over food would grip Britain if our oil supplies were suddenly stopped. Apocalyptic nonsense? Or a chilling insight into a country that produces hardly any of its own food – or energy?”
It’s Rosie Boycott’s “Sunday Essay”.
A few pages on…
“BATTLE OF THE BANGERS”
Bang! Bang! War?
“This week Asda launched its 2p sausage – Britain’s cheapest. So what does it taste like and how does it measure up to more expensive rivals? A chef, a health expert and a young banger addict put them to the test.”
Don’t panic! Don’t riot. It’s not a gun. There are other ways to die – it’s a 2p sausage…

Burn the sausages to keep the house warm : assuming packs of 8s, thats approx ………..3000 Britiish Thermal Sausage Units output per pack @ 16p. Energy crisis solved by Asda.

Looting and rioting over food? Well, I can remember many years ago there was a shortage of certain foods(sugar etc) and shoppers went a little crazy. There was also a craze for the toy(Cabbage patch dolls at one Christmas) and some”adults” were a doing anything(and behaving stupid) to get their hands on them.
In a major crisis the UK might be somewhat vunerable regarding food if that crisis did last for a long time.
There are plenty of folk who believe in food storage in their lives , and, having extra basic foods stashed away for an emergency.

i found myself buying four jars of mayonnaise today, just to stock up. strangely, the vegetable oil price increase hasn’t hit the mayonnaise price yet. so you can get 2p bangers and cheap mayo but can’t afford to fry the chips it seems.
