Madeleine McCann: But It Is Art
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
SHOWBIZ IRELAND: “Madeleine McCann Graffiti Child Star…”
It’s one year on since missing child Madeleine McCann was snatched from a holiday apartment in Portugal. Since then, there has hardly been a day that she hasn’t been in a newspaper or on the TV. Such has been the worldwide circulation of her photograph that her image has reached iconic status, tragically for all the wrong reasons…
Oh?
As we headed from one gig to another in South Dublin at the weekend, we happened by some plywood hoarding covered in graffiti, and one striking image immediately stood out… It was the spray-painted face of missing child Madeleine McCann with the words: “CHILD STAR” stencilled [sic] above it in black…
What to do?
Initially repulsed, at first we thought it unnecessary and in very bad taste considering the nature and sensitivity of the case. Then again, isn’t all graffiti unnecessary and tasteless? But there are some graffiti artists out there like Banksy who use the urban medium as canvas to express their Art and ultimately make their statements.
Yeah, f*ck it. It’s probably art, and if you ignore it you risk looking like an ingrate.
Looking at this graffiti again, it could be interpreted that the ‘Artist’ in this case is making a controversial statement about the nature of the media and using the face of Maddie to illustrate just how rapidly fame and stardom can be achieved. Even if, as in Madeleine’s case, it’s completely for the wrong reasons… Wouldn’t we all prefer if she’d remained totally anonymous but remained in the protective arms of her family?
Course we would. Then the media could write about something else, like dolphins, flowers and EastEnders like in the good old days.
…Her familiar face has now reached millions of households worldwide, due to the media, and become almost Warholian in iconic status. This IS a good thing irregardless of taste. All it takes is one person to recognise her somewhere in the world and she could be home tomorrow…
Get spraying…

As an Artist myself we often have an urge (as many artists have through history) to pick up on news events and portray them as they mean to us.
However - there is a boundary in Art that most respectable artists do not cross.
That is portraying an image that will do nothing other than upset or sicken people.
The official posters of Maddie themselves are portraying a message through Art that sickened and upset people yet it did have a message that needed to be told at the time.
This image of Maddie does nothing other than further the ego of the artist in a desperate bid to attain fame upon someone elses unhappiness .
This is why I am also against the cutting in half of a cow - it serves only to boost the Artists ego in a desperate attempt for fame - and has no message at all other than sickening and upsetting people.
Note how shock tactics like these are only done by talentless artists and never by talented Artists who have the ability to portray realistic images in perspective with real meaning.
Anyone can cut a cow in half or stencil spray a picture of a dead child on a wall - but how many of us can share the pure emotion of joy, happiness and love in their Art????

These people have done the medical profession a diservice. They have done for GP’s what Harold Shipman did for Hyde.
They will not cooperate with the PJ for one reason only- [ gross libel removed - dr].
If a working class woman left her kid, and it mysteriously disappeared, she would be in jail.
It is my belief that Maddie’s death was due to homicide. This silly Tapas pact is a smokescreen over the truth.
Both parents should be investigated, [ both parents are being investigated - dr

The “gentlemen”s word (of honour) was made by the FO,not anyone else. This is why the mccanns could go back to the uk.
So,far politicians should not have had access to anything in regard of rogatory letters and further proceedings, including ,their return to portugal if asked to and by the PJ.
None of any of the terms of this agreement has been kept.
The FO has laughed at the PJ constinously and I do not see any move forward from the uk to help out the PJ.Do you?
I dont see any further than that. And I certainly do not try to find excuses to any of FO members and/or political figures involved.
The lawyers must make sure the law is applied but whatever is in the hands of the FO, they cant “touch”.
The damage has been done by the FO

If you would like us to see your important messgae on a youtube, we expect you to post it. There are several thousand youtubes made daily, we seriously don’t have time nor interest to search through.
If on the other hand you can’t be bothered, could you tell us why we should?

what i dont understand is if they have been told that what they did was “in the bounds of responsible parenting” presumably by their very expensive lawyers, what on earth are the so scared of going back for? I do feel that the reason they highlight neglect, is that the other “items” on the pj list are so much more undesirable
————————————
Well, depending on what the instructions were to those lawyers, an awful lot of other lawyers may disagree…
But realistically, push comes to shove, the other Tapas members may be only too aware that the ’someone abducting Madeleine’ scenario almost inevitably puts them in the frame as the potential abductors.
I personally would not care to rely on the McCanns’ sense of honour or decency; would you?

Admittedly I am a bear of very little brain at the moment, but I have this deep conviction that someone has told them to shut up.
Lawyers, probably.
It really was not sensible for Clarrie to tell the media that the 4 refuseniks were not going because they were afraid they would be charged, but he did it anyway, hence the Sun’s:
‘The McCanns’ spokesman insisted that the couples were concerned about “the reason behind the reconstruction”.
back on the 30th May.
Since the reason behind the reconstruction was to to try and find out what happened to Madeleine, it presumably has dawned on them that not all employers may favour this apparent flagrant disregard for the processes of justice, nor on a personal level be comfortable with the apparent absence of any concern for Madeleine herself…

A-ha-ha, a-ha-ha, Gloria, how’s it gonna go down?
Will you meet him on the main line, or will you catch him on the rebound?
Will you marry for the money, take a lover in the afternoon?
Feel your innocence slipping away, don’t believe it’s comin’ back soon

She’ll be gone if this post gets released,
You’ll be spared the full wrath of the beast;
She’ll have waddled back home
Having posted her pome
And before her best bloomers get creased.
Ah, Gloria, Gloria!! We hardly knew ye…
Gloria, you’re always on the run now
Running after somebody, you gotta get him somehow
I think you’ve got to slow down before you start to blow it
I think you’re headed for a breakdown, so be careful not to show it
You really don’t remember, was it something that he said?
Are the voices in your head calling, Gloria?
Gloria, don’t you think you’re fallin’?
If everybody wants you, why isn’t anybody callin’?
You don’t have to answer
Leave them hangin’ on the line, oh-oh-oh, calling Gloria
Gloria (Gloria), I think they got your number (Gloria)
I think they got the alias (Gloria) that you’ve been living under (Gloria)
But you really don’t remember, was it something that they said?
Are the voices in your head calling, Gloria?

Jo, sounds like our Foreign Office, I think its likely they shall keep their word, in either scenario the McCanns have done nothing wrong then they have nothing to fear, or if they are guilty of a crime towards their child , then they have to face the due process of the law
***********
In either scenario, then the Foreign Of is certainely NOT doing its job very well nor does it keep its “gentlemen”s words”.
They do not meet with own their word to establish the truth for a child.
Bad news
———————
On the other hand, I don’t want a Foreign Office suffused with a glow of righteousness messing around in things it doesn’t understand; the debacle over the non-existent gassing in caravans suggests that the number of things the FO doesn’t understand is really quite high.
And the FO has no power to enter into any agreement about returning or not returning an individual to another country; that privilege is reserved to our Courts.
I would trust our Courts a great deal further than I would trust a politician, and a good deal further than I would trust someone from the FO…

Jo , no one has been charged yet, if a British national has harmed their own child, you will see the truth.
But time and law must take its course. Its been the HOME Office that put up the brick walls remember? not the FO

All conjecture of course, but Mr Wainwright is rumoured to be linked to the T9 and to have hotfooted it out of PDL mid-morning on 4 May 2007 in the company of an eleven-year-old boy, presumed to be a relative of his.

Wainwright, not Winyard … right? Winyard has 3 sons. Only mentioning
