Robert Mugabe And The Death Of Dadirai Chipiro
ROBERT Mugabe might be less of a problem than his administration and supporters who have grown fat on his watch:
The men who pulled up in three white pickup trucks were looking for Patson Chipiro, head of the Zimbabwean opposition party in Mhondoro district. His wife, Dadirai, told them he was in Harare but would be back later in the day, and the men departed.
An hour later they were back. They grabbed Mrs Chipiro and chopped off one of her hands and both her feet. Then they threw her into her hut, locked the door and threw a petrol bomb through the window.
She died…

I love the way the west has expected President Mbeki to march in to Zim and demand change.
And yet Mugabe is allowed entrance to Europe and is fed by the ruling party. and what deals do they give him to keep him in power.
Because today there is news that the army is renewed in its battle against the opposition.
Did Europe perhaps promise a few more arms supplies.
I can assure you it is not only China supplying weapons there.

c&c - you are right, it is sad, but I think the majority of people are so frustrated that nothing is being done to stop this madman and his murdering henchmen. When you think of how we all went gung-ho into Iraq, on the basis that we were freeing the Iraqi people from a tyrant, the questions are still there about why the same hasn’t been done in order to free Zimbabweans from genocide and starvation…?
I for one am sickened by it and also by the continued persecution of the McCanns.

Sometimes there are just no words.
You can’t blame people for ignoring / avoiding such atrocities, for some people life is difficult enough without having to consider whats going on half a world away.
It doesn’t make us bad people, or even shallow people, just people who are doing their best to get by.
I read a book (an age ago) about Seven attributes of highly effective people. One thing it says is that to be highly effective you have to concentrate on things within your sphere of influence.
How can we influence what is going on in africa at the moment when we and the government are struggling to get it right in our own country?
I’m not trying to excuse the small number of posts, just trying to give a potential explanantion.

Mans inhumanity to man…. sometimes one despairs. Especially as this is just one example of something that is happening every minute of every day in Zimbabwe.
All the energy and anger focused on the couple McCann and only one comment on this. so sad.
