Madeleine McCann: Relocated To The Royal Court
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE TIMES: Relocated at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs, London SW1
Yesterday, the Telegraph’s Charles Spencer reviewed the play Relocated and thought of Madeleine McCann, the Soham murders and Josef Fritzl. He left out Shannon Matthews. Can the Times’ Sam Marlow do better at Tabloid Bingo!?
Anthony Neilson’s new play, written during the rehearsal period and finished just days before its opening, is claustrophobic and clotted with menace. It’s performed, in the author’s horribly compelling production, behind a black gauze, which turns from opaque to transparent with lighting changes.
It’s as though we can see through walls, glimpsing the terrors that can occur inside seemingly commonplace homes. It’s a nightmarish vision that calls to mind not just the recent Josef Fritzl case, but also Fred West, the Soham murders and the abductions of Madeleine McCann and Shannon Matthews.
And a Fred West - Bingo!
DAILY RECORD: “Mccanns Alert Plea”
MADELEINE McCann’s parents will visit Strasbourg today to drum up support for a Europe-wide child abduction alert system. Gerry and Kate McCann, from Rothley in Leicestershire, still have to persuade 182 MEPs to sign up before July 20.Spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “Kate and Gerry are confident this can be achieved but they accept there’s a lot to be done.”
THE HERALD: McCanns lobby MEPs to win support for child abduction alert system
The couple visited Brussels in April to launch their campaign and have gained the signatures of 211 MEPs so far. They hope their presence at the other European Parliament building will help them reach the 393 mark.

so this is the same prosecutor that allowed the investigation to be extended? Why would he do that if he felt there was nothing to investigate?

so basically, mr and mrs brown, say for example, were called as witnesses, they themselves would gain access to the files?
————————————————
The difficulty is that this apparently involves new legislation, so Heaven knows what the Portuguese courts will make of it.
But the very obvious point is that the McCanns maintain that Madeleine was abducted, and if that is true then anyone present in PDL at the time Madeleine disappeared, whenever that was, is a potential suspect as an abductor. That of course includes the Tapas 7, 4 of whom have apparently refused to return to Portugual for a reconstruction.
It’s difficult to see how one could legally justify allowing the people who have been named as arguidos, with the attendant legal protection given by that status, to see all the witness statements but refuse to allow those witnesses to see other witness statements.
That would make the position of, say, the Tapas members who refused to return to Portugual somewhat difficult.
Of course, if interested parties are only allowed to see the files by applying in person that would be very intriguing…

What you fail to grasp is that the proseutor disagrees with your assessment, and it is his opinion that counts in this case at any rate.

The only documents worth reading besides Dianne Webster’s will be the Eddie and Keela file.
None of them have chopped and changed or retracted anything.
There will be a few cracks shortly, due to murmerings about a certain couple of other Clan members having the finger pointed at them.
I suppose it’s the time when you find out the strength of your friendships and lodges and gangs and clans and ……………..

I don’t fail to grasp anything Gandy. The McCanns made a concious decision to leave their children alone night after night. That IMO constitutes neglect. If it wasn’t for the McCanns political backing they would have been charged long ago IMO of course.
June 17th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
It would appear you have been shagged senseless, nothing new there then !

Jo!!!
I did not like Cheryl’s criticism of you and I don’t think that you should tell her how many of the Portuguese police you have worked with or slept with.
Jo - you make some of the most poignant points on Anorak and a blind man on a galloping horse with an arm tied behind his back and his knackers on fire would make more acute observations than Cheyl.
In my peronal and honourable judgement.
Jo - I think you use your sixth sense in a way that Gandolph would love to learn how to. Not to mention Rasputin the Rant Machine who can’t shag his Russian queen.

this will be the poisoned chalice for the mccs imo. they get to see the evidence that they have longed for, but so do we? thus their reputations are sullied further
———————————————-
Poisoned chalice is definitely the mot juste in the McCanns’ case.
It does seem to me that the Team McCann game plan to date has been to pin something, anything, on someone, anyone, who is not a McCann.
I suspect that Clarrie’s delightful vision of thousands of sightings of creepy looking people will be somewhat hampered by the willingness of thousands of creepy looking people to not only demand access to the files as potential suspects entitled to defend themselves, but also as potential litigants wanting to defend themselves, ditto, in the libel courts, or even in the court of public opinion.
That would be a rather expensive gameplan; governments can channel almost unlimited funds in pursuit of their aims but even billionaires may jib at those sort of bills…

I was of the understanding that that particular decision was a political one at the time, interference from gordon brown etc, international relations and all that. Oh if only this case was simple, with ordinary down to earth folk!

i think the problem for the pj is proving they intended to neglect their children, which is why they are making a big song and dance about distance from the tapas, regular checks, and now campaigning for the amber alert, all a distraction from the nasty selfish pigs that they really are, imo! to be honest, when it was revealed that maddie cried the night before the 3rd and the mccs went out again the following night, that, imo, is intention to neglect!!!
June 17th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
Is there some part of ..the prosecutor refused to have KM arrested for abandonment/neglect that you fail to grasp.

So the evidence is to be released, then we will see that the PJ never had anything to arrest the McCanns for, they are hardly going to release evidence showing that they should have arrested them.
—————————————-
Surely the point is that we have no idea whether or not the files are going to be opened or not.
24 Horas is not exactly the official press office of the Portuguese Attorney General…

The McCanns should have been arrested and charged with neglect. There is no disputing that. It is a well known fact that they left their three babies alone, in an unlocked apartment in a foreign country. M is gone because of their actions no one elses.

If the files are to become accessable to the mccs and the secrecy surrounding the case lifted, surely the press can have some fun?

Subject to those warm and wonderful people, libel lawyers, I would imagine the media will have lots of fun.
From the McCanns’ perspective this may turn out to be not fun…

Lets wait for an official announcement and even better a court ruling
___________
Jo, your comments on here and ‘predictions’ you have been making for some time are a little disturbing in a way. To be direct - are these your ‘fantasies,’ which you must fantasize about constantly, to be forever touting what will happen to the McCanns or is there a ‘rat in the woodpile’ over in Portugal leaking you inside information and you are their ‘mouth piece’ spreading it , thus possibly breaking the Secrecy Laws imposed on this case?
This line : “R.Murat and Amaral are delighted “soon, very soon…..”” you put in quotes “soon, very soon…” who are you quoting?
