Madeleine McCann: Speculation As Fact, Newspapers Speak With One Voice And OAP Dead
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
The newspapers continue to rely on press releases and Gerry McCann’s blog for their investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
THE SUN: “Maddie police files to open”
KATE and Gerry McCann will soon have access to police files covering the search for missing daughter Maddie
This is presented as a fact.
Says the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “We’ve heard nothing officially, but if it’s true judicial secrecy has been lifted we welcome it.”
So how does the Sun know about the police files?
THE STAR: “MADDIE COPS TO SHOW MCCANNS EVIDENCE”
Gerry and Kate McCann will be given full access to confidential case files, Portugal’s top law officer revealed yesterday.
Portugal’s top legal eagle told them? But how does the Star know?
DAILY MAIL: “MCCANNS TO FINALLY FIND OUT ‘EVIDENCE’ MADELEINE POLICE HAVE AGAINST THEM”
Attorney general Fernando Jose Pinto Monteiro told daily newspaper 24 Horas: “From July, the (Madeleine) case will cease to be covered by judicial secrecy, and will be available to consultation by all parties involved. I do not know which date, but in July the case ceases to be covered by judicial secrecy.”
That’s right – this latest McCann story is rooted in an opinion voiced in a Portuguese newspaper.
Says the Mail: “24 Horas speculated the judicial secrecy will end on July 14 - more than 10 months after the couple were named suspects.”
Speculated? But what of the facts? Well, here they are:
The McCanns, both 40-year-old doctors from Rothley, Leics, were made official suspects last September but have never been arrested or charged and vigorously deny any wrongdoing.
Such are the facts.
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann: evidence against parents to be revealed
Facts:
The McCanns, both 40-year-old doctors from Rothley, Leics, were made official suspects last September but have never been arrested or charged and vigorously deny any wrongdoing.
Is the Telegraph reading the Mail, or vice versa?
THE TIMES: Kate and Gerry McCann to be told why police made them suspects in disappearance of Maddy
The announcement came as Mr and Mrs McCann embarked on a series of meetings with MEPs in Strasbourg in a renewed effort to secure backing for a Europe-wide child abduction alert system.
The couple have until July 24 - the close of the plenary session - to collect the signatures needed to ensure that their proposal, in the form of a written declaration, is sent to the EU President and published.
They have chalked up 225 signatures so far, leaving them another 168 to collect.
Mr McCann said: “This is an important issue and Europe needs to work together. We want to get as many signatures as possible but there’s limited time left.”
DAILY RECORD: “Dolina Cops Find Grave In Woods”
POLICE searching for missing OAP Dolina Maclean yesterday found a shallow grave in woods. The grim discovery was made in a dense pine forest near the village of Dunning in Perthshire.
Forensic experts, including officers who worked on the Madeleine McCann and Moira Jones cases, spent the day combing the area for evidence.

McCanns gain MEP alert support
The parents of Madeleine McCann are on course to win the vital backing of MEPs for a Europe-wide child abduction alert system.
In the 36 hours since the start of their visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, another 72 Euro MPs signed up to their campaign, said the McCanns’ spokesman.
However, in what could be a critically important development, the couple have also been told that the parliament’s president is set to give them more time to secure the support required.
Gerry and Kate McCann need the signatures of 393 members - that is more than half the total number - by July 24 to see a written declaration of the cross-border alert published and sent to the European Commission President.
A signed declaration carries no legal weight but suggests a political will to see such a scheme implemented.
The McCanns launched their drive for the US-style Amber Alert in Brussels in April, but travelled to Strasbourg needing another 182 members’ signatures.
Officials said they had received a modest 15 additional names by the end of their day-long visit.
But the Leicestershire couple’s gruelling series of meetings with leading MEPs throughout the day appears to have paid off with a surge of support.
They needed another 110 MEPs to sign the declaration with the prospect of extra weeks to secure the necessary signatures.
The McCanns’ spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said: “We are keen to get the number by the end of July but we are extremely encouraged by the number of MEPs who have signed it. The hard work will continue until we get the required 110 signatures, but there’s the possibility of the period being extended under European Parliament rules and that’s a major boost.”

Yes, couldn’t get over how good the Mcs looked. When people are down a spruce up helps, but these two have never looked like they needed this. Other parents of abducted kids have been in the news, but there is no question about it, even though they are doing their best to look good, there is an aurora about them that spells grief. Nothing can cover this up. Can sympathize with you over your lovely dog, and am pleased to know it is OK now.

Are we due for a new sighting this next couple of weeks do you think?
I hope that nobody in the Clan has a nervous breakdown in the next few weeks and become too weak to catch a flight to Portugal or anything.
I can’t wait to learn what’s in the original sealed brown envelopes regarding the original statements in original non-prompted words by the people who were there when this originally kicked off.
June 19th, 2008 at 5:41 am
Lyn! If they didn’t look so cool and healthy with it I would feel better.
As a woman I know that if I look smart when I’m down it helps me to get through the day but these two look really well and healthy. Light in their eyes. Fabulous posture - and posturing I may add. Spooky.
When my dog had his spleen out a year last October I had a serious breakdown. I lost a stone in less than a month and I could not bear to leave him for a moment.
Six months later people still referred to that time as my Crisis Period and some think that I still haven’t got over the trauma.
The dog’s like a new puppy though!

Bright Blessings and Love to all today!
May you be protected from the hexes of Knob-heads and would-be Harry Potters who tell us we will have eggs on our faces and things coming at us ten-fold!
I’m sure you will all be OK!
A special Good Morning to WTF and Jo and sorry that my job gets in the way of my sleuthing.
May the Portuguese police proceed with confidence and without hinder.
In the name of God, Jesus Christ Our Lord and Saviour and Common Sense and Logic. Evidence to be revealed some time after 14th to Press by a party opposed to the Clan gang.
But will be soon after.
June 19th, 2008 at 5:24 am
Rasputin! You sound like a heretic.
You are not allowed to hex people in the UK - talking about getting ten-fold this, that and the other. If you wish something like that on somebody it could come back to you one thousand-fold.
Where would that leave you?
Now tidy up your bedroom and open your windows! Don’t forget to bleach around the rim of the toilet - you are so full of sh*t you make a mess - so tidy up and stop pretending you are the All-Seeing Eye!
June 19th, 2008 at 5:12 am
Good Morning Cheryl!
Only having a giggle yesterday. Jo is very sensitive and psychic in actuality and makes pertinent observations to Anorak which is encouraging when I am suffering great anxiety over the machinations of the strangest event since The Big Bang.
As you know, my own children were snacked on by aliens - but there was evidence of their munching my kids.
In M’s case I think that it was an amphibious sardine that came and snatched her for a snack and left a clean smelling extra tidt apartment - or - it was the Tooth Fairies.
A human would not have thought to clean up and remake the bed - and he would have left a tell-tale sign. So let’s rule out that type of abduction for definite. Mine are much more plausible.
I don’t need to ‘grasp’ things myself because I already have a ‘grip’ on the situation.
I think that your text is very well thought out but you are thinking, ‘There but for the Grace of God go I’.
We can’t have that attitude on here coz people will think it’s OK to leave their children alone.
Since the story broke last May I have been leaving my 3yr old chold alone with my younger ones coz it doesn’t seem to be against the law to do so.
It saved me hundreds of pounds in baby-sitters but I paid a higher price - My children were eaten by aliens.

Remember you heard it here first, no charges. Abduction, Val we are aware it is one of several possible crimes, a possibility which many say is impossible, appears the court does not agree. There will be many faces covered in egg, I hope they get what they wished on the McCanns tenfold. Maybe we will never know the answer to this case, but others do and they are in Portugal.

this is unbelievable!!! What about all those people who have genuinely lost children, whose children are ill and dying, but still carry on. the mccs are doing nothing for britain except let the rest of the world think we are heartless child neglecting fools
______________
To be quite blunt, exactly what do you think the rest of the world thinks of the bloggers on the sites who spend their time smearing the McCanns, posting many times ugly nasty speculations and condemnations of them without as of yet just cause? There are many people who know of this case who still have compassion for the parents and not participating in the witch hunt taking place on various and asundry sites. I’ve read letters in the UK papers and not everyone condemns the McCanns; in fact I’ve read letters where the writers chastise the others over there for condemning the McCanns as they have been.
As for the world thinking Britain are ‘heartless child neglecting fools’ because of the Mccanns alledgedly neglecting their children is not a true statement IMO. Frankly, over the months from postings and remarks I’ve read it seems some say that some of the British don’t put their children first and have been known to leave their children alone in hotel rooms while they sit in the pubs below so…let’s don’t put that onus solely on the McCanns.
This ‘holier than thou art attitude’ about the McCanns I’ve read on here leaves me laughing frankly. I see the ‘trash’ talk words that comes out of some posters mouths on here directed about other posters and I shake my head in amazement!
June 19th, 2008 at 2:12 am
Is it normal for bereaved parents to be dressed to the nines and be full of themselves! Still believe IMHO, that Madeleine was not their child and she was too much trouble. Things went wrong..either premeditated or otherwise, and being opportunists and with the help of others covered up and in their cold hearted ways have made as much money as they can - funny it would be if they ended up in jail.

It”s very hard to decipher Katy, but the gist of it is that Beowolf has/had a computer
contract with the PJ and was/is privy to information about the McCann case….is that
about right? He/She would never betray that confidence to any poster on the 3 arguidos site, perhaps fellow Board Members in strict confidence, so we will never know what he knows.IMO

I’m glad you found what ‘hoot’ means - it’s almost onomatopoeic - a word that imitates the sound it is describing (so you don’t have to look that up). It is probably unfashionable since it is linked to fun which is in short supply
