Al Gore’s Energy Use Surges By 10 Per Cent
AL Gore, leader of the Al Goreans, has modified his home. Now: “Energy Guzzled by Al Gore’s Home in Past Year Could Power 232 U.S. Homes for a Month”:
In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month…
In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President’s home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.
An Inconvenient Truth…

It is ‘an inconvenient truth’ that if he lived in a tent and ate raw vegetables grown closeby he would really demonstrate his green credentials
But that is not a good reason to bash renewable technologies with bad science.
The Tennessee Centre for Policy Research claim to be a libertarian research group but have been accused of having connections with rightwing groups funded by ExxonMobil, although their president Drew Johnson has denied the oil industry link.

what exactly is he doing in that house to use all that energy…? and how many people has he got in there…?

2 I see it is not as yet clear he has improved his energy efficiency over the past year. There is no comparable statistics
Is it biased reporting by TCPR ?
TPCR could compare Al Gore’s home with the ‘average’ household (they did)
TPCR could compare Al Gore’s home with an 8 bathroomed household (they did not)
TPCR could compare Al Gore’s home before and after environmental systems were installed, but they took June 2007 as the assumed date after which the systems were installed when Nov 2007 is the appropriate date.
‘Al Gore’s electricity bill goes through the (insulated) roof By Tom Leonard in New York Last Updated: 8:22PM BST 18/06/2008
A spokesman for Mr Gore disputed the claims, saying his total utility bills had gone down by 40 per cent since the “green” refit, much of that down to the new heating system.
Explaining the electricity consumption, she said the three-year renovation of the house wasn’t finished until November so it was too early to draw a before-and-after comparison.
She also stressed that the Gores participate in a local “green power switch” programme which allows them to buy electricity from renewable resources such as wind power and methane gas. ‘

Is it ‘Emission Impossible’ (ref: Guardian) to reduce those carbons?
But hey that’s an improvement on March 1 2007 Thursday when Gore was attacked by Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research for using 20 times as much energy at his Volunteer State house in Nashville as the average household nationwide.
A gain is a gain and if he can halve it again and again for 5 years maybe it will prove Emission Possible!
Whatever, in the meantime his renewal energy use may be good for US industry? Too much renewable energy saving (if not exported to the grid) might Gore the young renewable industry;)

‘The Tennessee Center for Policy Research is an independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan research organization committed to achieving a freer, more prosperous Tennessee through the ideas of liberty.’
Gosh, what a shame; for one hopeful moment I thought they might be actually doing something…
