As one of the worlds most brutal dictators I am sure he wakes up every day and thanks God that Zimbabwe has no oil deposits. There is nothing like the smell of oil in the morning to inspire in the west the desire to “liberate” populations. Sleep well in your bed tonight Mr Mugabe. American rangers will not be parachuting in any time soon, unless you discover oil that is.

I’m not sure that the violence will stop.

Now there is no election run-off, the world’s press will lose interest and Mugabe can exact his revenge for having been placed in this position in the first place.

I totally agree with Cecilia and the MDC decision… Mugabe has annouced several times recently that ” the Gun is mightier than the ‘X’..” thousands of MDC supporters have been disenfranchised through torture and destruction of their homes and many have been killed … this would have been a totally unfair election and many more would have been attacked and possibly lost their lives … Hopefully the violence will abate now … but one wonders what the next step will be….

The election is completely rigged. To go through with it would continue the farce that it was democracy, and allow Mugabe to present himself to his country, to the rest of Africa as a democratically elected leader.

I think your sporting metaphor sort of misses the point. Its not a game.
